Competition and Exhibition of Rare and Minority Breeds NTRODUCTON n 1989 we successfully introduced sheep to the Show as an exhibition. At the following Shows we expanded by holding competitive classes, which have proved very successful. Financial difficulties = no show in 1998 but were back in 1999 until in 2001 & 2007 F & M stopped the show, but we were back with free entry to celebrate our 150 th year in 2008. Secure covered pens, fresh water will be provided along with the Show's veterinary surgeon should they be required. Free entry to the show ground is guaranteed to exhibitors and competitors. Please note that hay & straw will not be provided, so please remember to bring some if required for food or bedding for your animals. n conjunction with the competitive classes we will be holding an exhibition of pigs and sheep. Exhibitors will be most welcome over the two days of the Show. N.B. VERY MPORTANT NOTE The closing date for entries is 22nd August 2018 and must be adhered to. ADMSSON TO SHOWGROUND Admission to the showground is on the condition that any person or persons admitted agree and undertake to hold harmless and absolve the promoters and organisers of the show and every other person taking part in or in connection with the management or conduct of the show from all liability for any injury to person or damage to property howsoever caused. MPORTANT - PLEASE READ: CONDTONS: 1. All exhibitors must be ready for judging by the time specified for the appropriate class. 2. All exhibitors are required to have their animals on display between 09.00 hrs. and 16.00 hrs or to the stewards discretion on the day they attend the show. 3. All animals are the ultimate responsibility of their owner. 4. The Committee reserves the right to vary the schedule if required. 5. Sheep movement forms will be inspected and copies collected on arrival and retrospective forms issued on departure or new online records verified. 6. The practice and regulations of DEFRA outlined in the animal gathering show licence and by Trading Standards Animal Health division must be observed, as in force on the day of the Show for sheep [including dipping regulations] and Bio Security respectively. The show VET may inspect all animals on arrival. 7. All transport must be parked in designated areas and exhibitor s passes must be carried at all times whilst on the Show Ground. Please ensure your vehicle is clean from any caked on animal waste or mud, vehicles may be inspected on entry and may be required to be cleaned down before entry is granted by a Trading Standards officer. Vehicles must remain in the designated parking area for the duration of your visit. Trailers must be cleaned before coming to the show and must not be used for any other animals between dropping animal at show and taking them away. Page 1 8. Disinfectant footbaths and washing facilities will be provided and a changing area will be available. Washing facility will also be available for members of the public. Please ensure all clothing and foot ware worn at the show is free of any excess mud or animal waste. 9. The Bio Security Procedure will be available from the Bio Security officer (James Doran) and his stewards at all times. Additional copies will be placed in the show office and PA caravan. 10. The public will have access to the marquee and judging viewing area. The exhibitors parking area will be closed to public access. 11. The Show Ground is open to exhibitors from 15.00 hrs Friday 24th August 2018 until 6.00pm on Sunday 26h August 2018. 12. All exhibitors must be on hand during judging of their animals. 13. Exhibitor s passes will be despatched prior to the Show. 14. Please follow the controlled entry route on arrival to the livestock area which takes you round the outside of the perimeter fence to a dedicated livestock gate into the livestock parking and loading area. To be judged along normal lines but excludes condition of the animal s teeth. SECTON B: Free entry, no prize money, but rosette will be awarded. WOOL ON THE HOOF, TRO, FAMLY GROUP ETC To be run just for fun depending on interest & time available. PRESENTATON OF CUPS National Westminster Bank Plc., Perpetual Challenge Cup: To be awarded to the exhibitor of the Supreme Champion. Kuwait Petroleum [GB] Limited, Perpetual Challenge Cup: to be awarded to the exhibitor gaining the most competition points, runner up will receive the Linda Rollason Silver Salver. SECTON NOTES & RULES - PLEASE READ: Generous covered pens provided. Pen allocation = 1 x single: = 1 x ewe & 1 or 2 lambs, 2 x ewes or rams, or 1 x pair of lambs. Please ensure you have sufficient handlers available if you are likely to have more than one sheep in any one class, or one sheep or more in two classes at the same time. Each sheep to be entered for one class only in sections A. No more than two sheep of the same breed may be entered into anyone class by the same exhibitor / breeder. An exhibitor however may enter up to two of as many different breeds as they wish in any one class, We regret we are unable to facilitate MV accredited sheep. Prizes for each class: S1 S25: 1st = 12, 2nd = 8, 3rd = 6. Prizes for Champion = 30, Reserve Champion = 15, Exhibitor gaining most points in competition = 30. 2 nd highest points place 15. Rosettes will be awarded in all classes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, and for Section - Champion and Reserve Champion and overall - Champion and Reserve Champion. Champion, most points and 2 nd highest points all win trophies. Championship Class Entry = Champion and Reserve Champion for each Section Championship class from Section A. Points for each class: S1 S25: 1st = 12, 2nd = 8, 3rd = 6, Section Championships, overall Championship and class S25 and classes held just for fun do not carry points. Points gained by each exhibitor in classes S1 S24 for 1 st, 2 nd & 3 rd place will be totalled on straight points total basis this year. A numbered exhibitor card system will continue to be used again this year identifying each exhibitor to the stewards recording the class results. Each exhibitor will be given an individual catalogue number with duplicate corresponding numbered cards issued on the day. All classes may be appropriately split or amalgamated subject to all entry numbers. Judging will be of a professional standard by qualified judges. t will take place in the judging ring at 09.30 hrs. Class times will be advised and called by the stewards using the PA system. Lunch 13.00 hrs - 14.00 hrs, or at the Judges / Section Directors discretion. Judges: Joanne Corrigan & Rita Wise Down & Short Wool, Primitive, Hill, Heath and Park, Shetland. Traditional & Long Wool & fun classes to be allocated before show. Maurice Duce - Wool on hoof. Judging arranged to allow exhibitors with different varieties of sheep breeds to handle entries in each section without over stretching handler requirements. The class sections will be divided and judged individually by our two judges so we can run them concurrently to allow plenty of time for; Section B: Wool On The Hoof, Trio, Family Group etc. The Championship will be a concurred decision.
