National Association of Canine Scent Work ODOR RECOGNITION TESTS Odors: Birch, Clove, and Anise Saturday, December 16, 2017 Oriole Dog Training Club 9 Azar Court Halethorpe, MD 21227 Entry method First Received Entries Open: Saturday October 28, 2017 Entries close Wednesday December 6, 2017 Entries limited to 100. For test to be held 30 or more dogs must be registered by closing, participants will be contacted if threshold has not been met. If the test is not being held, monies will be refunded. Entry Fee and Second Dog Policy $30 entry fee/each odor/each dog. If the handler is running a second dog in the same odor, the second dog s fee is $35.00. We will be accommodating 2 dogs per handler, if the handler is running a second dog in the same odor as another dog there is an additional $5 fee ($35 total entry fee). Bitches in season: MUST wear britches and will run as last dogs of the day Closing Date Wednesday December 6, 2017 Overnight mail entries must have the signature request waived Wait List and Cancelations In the event, the maximum entries of 100 is reached the secretary will maintain a waitlist. Participants will be listed based on their first come entry basis. Participants will be notified of a testing slot when the secretary is informed of cancellations. If you do not want to wait or no longer desire a slot, please inform the Test Secretary at lindobes@verizon.net so the next person on the list can be contacted if a spot should open up. Your payment will be held until your accept a slot.

Check and Refund Policy Checks without sufficient funds may result in non-entry unless bad check fee of $25 fee is paid to hosting agency with entry fee by money order or cashier s check within 1 week of notification. Cancellations made on or before Wednesday December 6, 2017 will be refunded minus a $10 administration fee for each dog entered. No refunds after Wednesday December 6, 2017 Cancellations may be made by e-mailing the Test Secretary Linda Grskovich at lindobes@verizon.net Please be considerate to your fellow sportsmen and contact the Test Secretary as soon as you know you cannot participate, we may have a waitlist for testing The secretary is not responsible for lost e-mails that do not reach her. The secretary will send an email back to the participant confirming the cancellation within 36 business hours. ENTRY FEES shall not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, or excused by the NACSW official or judge. Test Site Hours: 7:45am- 4pm (or whenever finished) Handler Briefing 8:00am** **Due to accommodating 2 dogs per handler, and depending on number of entries there may be separate groups with separate handler briefings. We will advise all entrants of times with your final confirmation if there are separate registration and briefing times. It is required that you are on time for the handler briefing. If you miss the briefing, it will not be repeated. Testing will begin shortly after the briefing. REGISTRATION Check in When you arrive, please leave your dog in the car and proceed to the check in table there will be signs directing you. Hospitality and restrooms are located inside of the building. If all the handlers are registered early, the handler briefing may start earlier than scheduled. You do not need a scorebook to participate in the ORT, but if you want your results recorded in the book, please bring it to registration. It will be collected at the check-in table and returned to you after your (last) run. (Scorebooks are for personal record keeping. If you have lost a scorebook or would like a replacement, you can request a replacement scorebook that will include all your prior NACSW results. Log in to your account at: http://www.nacsw.net and under the "My Account" section, go to "My Dogs" and choose the option to order a replacement scorebook there. The cost is $20.) Let the check-in table know if your dog has special needs so we may help you if possible. When you check in, remind us if you are running more than one dog at this test or if your female is in season. See details listed below regarding multiple dog handlers and females in season TEST SITE INFORMATION The test will be inside in a climate controlled training room with sprint turf. There is no crating space. Dogs must be confined in your car until they are being tested. The parking lot is paved asphalt. There is NO SHADE so please bring shade as needed. Restrooms are inside the facility. Dogs must remain in your car except for when going to/from the test and when relieving themselves.

SPECTATORS NOT PARTICIPATING IN THE TEST ARE ALLOWED AT THE CERTIFYING OFFICIAL S APPROVAL. ORT participants can have a friend or family member (who is not testing at all the same day) come into the testing room with them. PARKING: There is ample parking in the facility parking lot. Please space yourselves accordingly. Use of Treats/Rewards at this Facility This facility has Sprint Turf and certain treats if dropped onto the flooring are hard to retrieve and cause cleaning and environmental concerns, therefore the facility has a policy that certain food/treats may not be used in their arena. Most notably, this includes crumbly hard dog treats, cheese balls or popcorn, cooked chicken, and baby food. It you have been using these rewards, we ask for this one-time event, please reward your dog with soft dry dog treats, meat roll, hot dogs, jerky, freeze dried treats, string cheese, peperoni, or mini marshmallows. Facility Elimination Policy In the event that your dog should eliminate urine or otherwise on the Sprint Turf, the facility will charge the competitor a $5.00 fee for the cleaning of and replacement of the rubber foundation of the Sprint Turf. Please be sure you have your dog eliminate prior to testing on the grass designated areas. RUNNING ORDER: A copy of the running order will sent to the testers prior to the event. There will also be a finalized copy posted the day of the ORT at the testing site. MEMBERSHIP: Please keep in mind that the NACSW membership year runs from August 1 to July 31. The 2017-2018 membership year begins on August 1, 2017. This ORT takes place in the 2017-2018 membership year. Please double check your membership. If it is found you were not a current member of the NACSW your ORT results will be invalid. DOGS PRESENT will not be permitted to roam. Exhibitors are responsible for the behavior of their dogs. The owner of each dog is solely responsible for having it ready when it is to be judged. ALL DOGS MUST BE ON LEASH AT ALL TIMES. Please be courteous and mindful of all other dogs and handlers. FEMALES IN SEASON must run at the end of the day. If your female has come into season, please notify the secretary at least 48 hours before the testing date. Linda Grskovich at lindobes@verizon.net HANDLERS OF MORE THAN ONE DOG The first dog will run at the first run of each odor s test. The location of the odor will then be reset for the second dogs. BASIC DESCRIPTION OF TEST Successful passage of an ORT requires a dog to identify the location of the target odor and the handler to correctly call an alert (or equivalent) within a three-minute time period. The ORT consists of a box drill-type exercise that must include 12 boxes set in a pattern spaced at least 48 apart. The ORT is to be conducted on leash. designed to be a blind test for each handler. Please do not discuss the location of the odor while dogs are being tested.
