If the amplitudes are nt equal, begin rtating the receiving antenna in a clck wise manner until the amplitudes level ut. If this des nt achieve the desired effect, it may be necessary t mve the receiving antenna up r dwn, relative t the DUT antenna. Refer t figure 10. 5.7 Figure 10 LeCry EVM Cmpliance Test Prcedures 16 Rev 1.0 12/6/2007

5.7.18. Once the amplitudes are equal acrss all bands, adjust the vertical reslutin n the scpe such that the packet amplitude extends t ne divisin frm the tp and bttm f the display. This takes maximum advantage f the A/D cnverters within the scillscpe. Hwever, it is very imprtant t insure the signal des nt extend vertically utside the viewing area. 5.7.19. At this acquisitin rate, beacns will appear as very narrw bursts while data packets will appear apprximately five times wider (depending n the data rate and selected paylad size). If yu can nt see beacns and data packets n the same display, it may be necessary t adjust the scillscpe s hrizntal time scale. See figure 8. Only the 96 symbl packets are used fr WiMedia and Certified Wireless USB testing, therefre it is necessary t insure these packets are saved fr prcessing. This can be dne by randmly hitting run until the packet is captured r triggering can be setup t deterministically capture the signal, the latter is the recmmended methd. 5.7 Figure 11 5.7.20. If the test finishes befre the setup is cmplete, rerun the lpback test. It needs t be running the entire time t make sure there is a signal t acquire. 5.7.21. Use the single step feature f the scillscpe t freeze the incming wave n the display. Cntinue t d this until at least ne entire data packet can be seen. At this pint, yu can save the wavefrm in the scillscpe s native frmat (.wfm,.bin,.tfc, etc.). Use the file naming structures lcated in sectin 5.8 t name the wavefrms. These files will need t be stred n the cmputer running the EVM tl. See sectin 6 fr peratin f the EVM Tl sftware. Fr advanced trigger ptins, use the LeCry Technical Brief with the LeCry UWBTracer t enable an external trigger ptin. 5.8. Saving Scpe Wavefrm Data 5.8.1. The file name shuld cntain all pertinent infrmatin abut the acquisitin, including: TFC, data rate, and acquisitin sample rate (in giga-samples per secnd). An identifier fr the device under test is ptinal (The prduct TID number is recmmended, hwever if this is nt available use the prduct mdel number). NOTE: If the unique file name is nt included, all files fr a single device must be saved in a unique flder t avid cnfusing data frm different devices. The syntax is as fllws (case is nt imprtant; any cmbinatin f lwer and upper case is allwed): LeCry EVM Cmpliance Test Prcedures 17 Rev 1.0 12/6/2007

1. PHY1_TFC4_BPS053_GSS20_TID-10000001.txt (text file r csv, tsv file). 2. PHY5_tfc6_Bps480_gss20_SNDeviceName.trc (LeCry frmat). Nte: The file name entered in the Trace Title field with the Save Wavefrm dialg is previusly appended by a tw character surce f the wavefrm and five digits are appended that are autincremented if multiple files are stred using the same Name. Fr example, if C2 is the surce, the first wavefrm stred using the string as shwn in the Trace Title wuld be named with this specific file naming cnventin: 1. C2PHY5_tfc6_Bps480_gss20_TID-10000001_00000.trc 2. C2PHY5_tfc6_Bps480_gss20_SNDeviceName00000.trc. If the DeviceName ends with digits, please add an underscre after it t separate it frm the appended aut-incrementing digits - this is required; the scpe will remve trailing digits frm the Trace Title when creating the file name. The fllwing figure shws the Save Wavefrm menu cnfigured t save binary wavefrms (.trc extensin) using the string abve as the Trace Title. 6. EVM Sftware Operatin 6.1. Operating EVM Sftware 6.1.1. Running the EVM applicatin causes the main windw t appear. This dcument cvers testing in the default mde, fr peratin in the debug mde refer t the EVM Tl sftware manual. (The EVM Tl Sftware is installed with the EVM tl applicatin) 6.1.2. Several tests can be perfrmed including: 6.1.2.1. Burst packet timing (verifies MIFS timing between packets in burst mde), 6.1.2.2. Preamble symbl cunt (there must be either 12 r 24 symbls in the preamble), 6.1.2.3. Preamble crss-crrelatin (crss-crrelatin f symbls must exceed 87%). 6.1.2.4. Pwer Spectral Density (PSD) (pwer spectrum must fit within defined mask). 6.1.2.5. Adjacent Channel Pwer Rati (ACPR) (the rati f pwer in band t pwer ut f band must exceed 20). 6.1.2.6. Frequency ffset (carrier frequencies must be within 20 parts per millin f specificatin). 6.1.2.7. Errr Vectr Magnitude (EVM) (errr magnitude in db must nt exceed limit based n transmit data rate). 6.1 Figure 1 6.1.3.
