Thank you to Ann Jeddeloh and Laurie Schray for organizing the food and to Rhonda Meath for creating the background for the photos and to Kara for taking the pictures once again. Our next big event is the Annual Awards banquet and annual meeting with election of officers. Your ballot should arrive in late December. This banquet is a celebration for all of us not just those who received new titles this year. The information on reservations is on page 10. We have a lot to be proud of once again and it is time to come together to celebrate everyone s accomplishments. I have noticed the last few months there has been an increase in volunteerism also. That is wonderful to see. One of our newest members, Kathy Balaban, took on the huge task of calling everyone to get together a slate of people to run for office. Think what a daunting task that was for a person who knows very little about the club and only knows a few people. Kudos to Kathy! Cristina McColl took on the 2012 specialty shows. Thank you Cristina! We have a presentation coming up by Dr. Mark LaVallie on Degenerative Myelopathy and what chiropractic can do to help. He has two hours worth of material so we are going to break it up over two evenings, starting at 8:15 on January 13 and January 20. If the times and dates change I will ask Dave to send out a message. We still need mats for our specialty show obedience/rally classes, so if you know of any for sale or rent let the board know. We have had an excellent year, and with the continued help of the membership we will have another great year in 2012. I caved in and decided to run for president again, but I know I will need a lot of help to keep on top of all our projects. If you have an interest, speak to a board member and maybe you can take on that task or assist with it. Just let us know. Since the American Kennel Club launched its AKC Therapy Dog Title program on June 27, over 1,600 dogs have been recognized for their special abilities to improve the well-being of others. Meet the first dogs to receive the AKC Therapy Dog Title. To achieve AKC s Therapy Dog or ThD title a dog must be certified or registered with an AKC-recognized therapy dog organization, perform a minimum of 50 documented visits and be an AKC Dog through either AKC registration, PAL listing or AKC Canine Partners enrollment. Over 50% of membership renewals are still outstanding. We have yet to receive any money from the recent herding event. (See Old Business for more information.) e. Auditing Committee Committee Reports a. Membership There is 1 new member application. b. Shep-O- Gram c. Training Discussion about dogs in harnesses. Lisa Marie Fortier offered some information about the pros and cons of harnesses. It was decided that this shouldn t be a club issue. d. Program Committee e. Herding Trial f. Agility Trial The ribbons have been purchased for 3 $800-900. The budget was $1,000. g. 2012 Specialty A deposit is due Jan 15. The application to hold the Trial also needs to be sent in December. A show secretary and chair still need to be found. It was decided that this will be raised at a later meeting. Old Business There was discussion about the next step to take regarding leadership of the Herding Trial. New Business Regarding the recent herding trial: An attempt has been made to contact the Barb Witte, individual who has the money, but no reply has been received. There was discussion about sending a card to the people whose dog died after being struck by a car on Hwy 5 in front of Animal Inn after training Friday night. It was decided that Chris would get one and it would be signed and put in the mail. The owners were not members, and this had been the dog s first class session, however, we have their address because they wrote out a check earlier that night. It was also decided that their check would be returned to them. After discussion, the Board decided that cards would be sent to owner/members whose dogs had passed away. Likewise, get well cards will be sent to members, if the Board is aware that one should be sent. Holiday Potluck Ann Jeddeloh is coordinating this. Please contact her if you are bringing something for the potluck so she can coordinate what will be there. There will not be a Santa this year. Mats for trials: Verna Kubik reported that the Roy Jones website has advertised some mats for sale, and we are in the

market for some, probably 16-17 rolls.. We have already arranged for a storage space, at no cost to us. The size of the mats advertised is unknown. Verna will investigate this and get back to the Board with her findings. We are wondering if they can bring them when they are at a Minnesota show, so Verna will ask. The issue will be raised at the membership meeting in December after more information is known. There are 4 applications to be sent for 2012: Specialty, with Conformation, Obedience, and Rally. We will ask Jill if she can submit all four applications for us, however, we need the names of the judges before this can be done. Mike Metz will provide the judge s names, so as soon as he has all that information, the applications will be sent. The next Board meeting will be December 9. before the Holiday celebration potluck. The next general membership meeting will be held the same night, after the potluck. Meeting adjourned at 6:53 PM. Vice President Eileen Varhalla c. Secretary Chris Duffy No Report Old Business 2012 Specialty Show The grounds have been reserved. We are in need of a Secretary and Chair!! If no people volunteer, there can be no show. Our only alternative would be to hire someone. We could hire Cindy O Hare, for example, who charges $2.75/dog. A new member expressed an interest. Verna explained the job in detail. There was discussion about ideas of what should be done for these matches and trials. Failure to get volunteers may mean we may have to give them up, if there are no volunteers. Cristina McColl volunteered to be show secretary, and Mike Metz has volunteered to chair the grounds 4 Continued on next page

November Membership minutes continued committee. Roy Jones Shows has a notice on its website that they have a mats for sale. Verna will investigate and report back. 2013 Specialty Mike Metz is gathering a committee to look into the possibility of changing the date of the 2013 show. We would have to be careful of what other shows are either before, or after, the current dates. Verna Kubik made a motion, which was seconded, to defer a vote on the 2013 judges until a vote decides the issue of dates. 2012 Herding A Chair and Secretary are still needed. The previous site is not available for 2012. We need to find an alternative site before March. Four possibilities have been identified. We will need to know what would be on the contract. Verna suggested contacting Pam Magadance to find out. The Holiday Potluck will be held on Friday, December 6 th (followed by a general membership meeting). If you are going to bring something, please contact Ann Jeddeloh, coordinator, to confer about what you are bringing so we can be assured that there is a variety of things.
