As to be expected several clear up hoggs but still some well bred smaller bunches topping at 112, plenty of hoggs from 90 to 105, less hoggs in the three figures which was to be expected. Farming hoggs from 80 to 90 throughout although plainer hoggs trading at slightly lower money. Several medium keeping types forward - these look well sold throughout and all 65 to 78. Longer keeping types from 50 to 60, plainer hoggs trading late 40 s to 55, very little less than 40. Ram hoggs to 100, all strong types 80 to 95. Farming types from 65 to 79.50. Smaller types from 40 to 55. A few ewe hoggs forward topping at 116 for Suffolk x Mules, Texel x Mules topped at 110. Smaller Mules met limited enquiry although with the weather set to improve I am confident that more customers will be present in the coming weeks for the better end of the ewe hoggs. CULL EWES - 1854 Auctioneer - Matthew Nicholls A reduced entry sold to an excellent trade, yes it was less than last week but not a lot and it was certainly better than several men were forecasting after seeing trades yesterday! A large and majority entry of Welsh and Speckle ewes but nevertheless the ewes averaged 72/head up to 131/head. The top 20 prices were all in excess of 116/head. Again those Welsh ewes to 84/ head, rams to 120/head. Eight ewe buyers forward ensuring this blistering trade. Keep the ewes coming, we can handle 2-3,000 ewes week in week out and make them a trade!! If intended to be kept for or sold as breeding stock they will need to be FULL EID tagged as has been the requirement since 1 st January 2010. Historic flock (the sheep born before 1 st January 2010 which have been kept as breeding stock) when these come to be moved/sold either as breeding stock or as cull ewes they will NEED TO BE RE-TAGGED WITH FULL EID (electronic and same manual number). Cull ewe eartags - All cull ewes and rams must have FULL EID TAGS to be sold in Hereford Market. Hereford Market Auctioneers will not be able to accept sheep for sale which are not tagged correctly. Always have taggers and spare tags available in your vehicle. EAR TAGS - EVERY SHEEP IN THE MARKET MUST BE ELECTRONICALLY TAGGED. IF THEY ARE NOT THEY WILL NOT BE SOLD AT HEREFORD Eartags and holding numbers - please note that it is essential that the correct holding numbers are entered onto the licence of sheep coming in to the market and also for those sheep moving out. For those with multiple holding numbers the correct ones must be used not merely the main holding number if it is not relevant 5
