February 2018 Page 5 Winter Show January 2018 - THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! The Winnegamie Dog Club, Inc. had another successful dog show weekend, even with some interesting challenges. Our entries were down slightly both days, and we had some very cold weather over the weekend, overall everything went smoothly on the inside. With the bad weather in other areas of the country we did have one judge that could not make it to the show at all. Another judge made it to Chicago, but did have to rent a car and drive up to our show and was a couple hours late for her judging. Thanks to: Assistant Show Chair: This was Mary Frisch s very first year as my assistant and she did wonderful, doing all that was asked of her. This is a challenging job and I am sure she will do great at it when she takes over. And Mike Frisch thank you for all the help setting up and cleaning up. We re glad you made it a family affair. LOL Judges Liaison: Pat Erickson this year worked with the judges on when they were arriving and leaving on Monday. It was a challenging year for getting everything straight but in the end it all worked out. Trophies: Renee Hoelzel did a wonderful job at the table again this year for both days. It could get mighty cold sitting there but she stuck it out like the trooper she is. Chief Ring Stewards: Louise Torkelson, with Margie Hohman s help this year had another training session to help get our stewards in the know. The rings were well staffed and the judges commented on how smooth the rings ran. Ring Stewards: Thank you!!! We had many new ones this year and everything seemed to go so smooth and the judges were very pleased with your help. Hope to see many of you back next year!!!! Gate-Tom Wiesler: Tom and his crew did a fantastic job taking in money. This is not an easy job in the middle of January and I am so glad that they were willing to do this job. Of course Nancy Zolkowski did it again!! Ask her how her snow pants survived the weekend!! Tom and his crew are the best!!! Lunch-Judges/workers: Lori Piette and Becky Rieder again did a fabulous job feeding our Judges and workers both days of our shows. Many compliments were received. Thank you for doing this and keeping us all well fed! Grooming Area-Carol Busey: Carol does a great job at helping set up the grooming area and then keeping it in order for both days of our shows. This is a really big job and she does it very well!!!! You help make the show run much smoother with helping the exhibitors finding a needed grooming space. Hard to believe that with more grooming space that the exhibitors could complain more, but this is to be expected. Concession Stand: For those quiet hero s that kept the exhibitors and spectators fed and content, thank you so much. You are one of the important details that make a big difference in a shows success. You work hard at coming up with new ideas to sell and it works great every year. Gene and Mary McEssey, you do a fantastic job!! Thank you so much. First Aid Table: Len and Patty Hoehne were at our first aid table Saturday and Sunday, it is always really appreciated.

WINNEGAMIE DOG CLUB, INC. RULES FOR YARD USAGE One of the benefits of club membership is the use of the yard to run your dogs. Therefore, you must be an APPROVED CLUB MEMBER to enjoy it. To identify you to other club members, you MUST have a yard pass hanging from your vehicle s rear view mirror. This can be obtained from WDC s Yard Pass Chairperson after you are an approved member. If you walk or bicycle to the club, carry the yard pass with you. Club members who see a vehicle without a yard pass are instructed to call the Menasha Police Department. Picking up after your dog(s) is VERY IMPORTANT. As you re doing so, don t hesitate to pick up any that is missed by someone else. Most likely you like how clean the yard is, and it can only be kept that way through a joint effort from all of us. If someone else is using the yard when you arrive, be sure to ASK PERMISSION to bring your dog(s) in. Not every dog wants playmates. If you are using the yard and choose to let your dog(s) play without new playmates, please be aware there is a 15 MINUTE TIME LIMIT from the time the next person arrives. If no one is waiting, feel free to use the yard as long as you like. For the safety of the dogs and people, please do not use LONG LINES on dogs and refrain from using PRONG COLLARS when dogs are playing with each other. If the training center is rented out for a day or weekend, the yard will be closed, since BUILDING RENTAL also INCLUDES the exclusive use of the YARD. Dates will be posted before the event in the newsletter and/or on the bulletin board by the yard. Occasionally the yard is SATURATED WITH WATER, and dogs running and playing will tear up the lawn and could become hurt. During these times (usually in the spring), the yard will be closed. It will be posted on the bulletin board near the entrance and on the website. By adhering to these rules, we can all be assured that the yard will continue to be a place where we can enjoy some active time with our best friends. 2017 WDC YARD PASSES ARE READY!! A 2018 Yard Pass is required to use the Club s front and back fenced yards. The new Yard Passes are Lime Green and Black and they are to be placed in the clear plastic hanging pockets. So, don t throw away the plastic hangers. Take out the old 2017 Yard Pass and place the new Lime Green and Black passes in the hanger.

The plastic hangers are to hang from your rear view mirror. If you bike or walk to the club, carry the hanging pocket pass with you. Family Memberships may have two FREE passes. Single memberships may have one FREE pass. Extra passes are $1.00 each and extra plastic hangers are $2.00 each. If your pass is damaged or stolen, replacement passes can be obtained for $3.00 fee (pass $1.00 and hangers $2.00). If you get a new license plate number, you will need to get a new pass. The passes will change yearly. ALL CLUB MEMBERS MUST HAVE PASSES BY MAY 1. We need your help please help enforce the yard-use policy! Look at the cars for the people using the fenced yards. If someone using the yard doesn t have a yard pass, please courteously ask him or her if they are WDC members. If they are not members, tell them the yards are for MEMBERS ONLY and tell them how they can become WDC members. If someone is abusing the posted rules, give the license plate number and complaint to any board member or Linda Allen. Feedback/concerns/suggestions contact Linda Allen or any board member. To obtain a car pass, complete the application below and bring with you to the membership meeting, where Linda or Michael Allen will be on hand to distribute yard passes.
