It was a fantastic day and although I did not get a chance to speak with everyone on the day you all seemed to have really enjoyed our show. Numbers were up on 2014 and with new members and exhibitors the committee are really encouraged by your commitment to our hobby. Junior members are the life blood of this hobby and we hoped they enjoyed the new experience of taking part along with meeting new friends and gaining valuable knowledge. COLOURED RACING PIGEONS AT THE 2015 INFPA YOUNG BIRD SHOW Text: Albert Hogan, Club Secretary of the Irish Coloured Racing Pigeons Club. Photos: Wes Murphy. On Saturday 5 th September 2015 the INFPA hosted their annual Young Bird Show in which the Irish Coloured Racing Pigeon Club took part. We had a total of 67 entries making us yet again the largest breed class at an INFPA show. This year we decided to hold six colour classes which were broken down into Reduced, Almond, Opal, Self, Check/Bar and AOC. We had two new members participate in the show for the first time, Paddy Phelan and Dwaine Kennedy. Both lads manage to take some cards on the day which was a great achievement considering it was their first time they had shown with the club. Our Judge on the day was Jude Murphy. Jude done a fantastic job on the day and the Irish Coloured racing Pigeon Club would like to thank him for his effort on the day. The following are the results from the six colour classes and also the result from the Junior Class: Wes Murphy had a very successful show taking five of the six colour classes and going on to win Best in Breed for the third show in succession. Wes also went on to win Best in Show with his Reduced Spread coloured racing pigeon out of a total of 316 entries.
This is the first time that a coloured racing pigeon has went on and won Best In Show at an Irish National Fancy Pigeon Association show. It is a great achievement for both Wes and the Irish Coloured racing Pigeon Club to have a coloured racing pigeon win the Best In Show. The club would like to thank all its members who took time to show on the day and for their continued support towards the club. We would also like to thank Kevin Kelly of the INFPA who was show manager on the day who put on a very successful and enjoyable show again.
