Aloha! Assistance Dogs of Hawaii s 11th Annual will be held on Saturday, February 9th 2019 at the. We invite you to be an important part of this very special event and at the same time support a life changing Hawaii-based charitable organization. Event sponsorship is also a great way to advertise and show your community support. Assistance Dogs of Hawaii has been providing Assistance Dogs, free of charge, to people with physical disabilities and other special needs in Hawaii for the past 18 years. In addition to Service Dogs for children and adults with limited mobility, our full-time Hospital Facility Dogs benefit hundreds of patients in Hawaii every day, including Winnie at the Kapi olani Medical Center, Ipo at the Queen s Medical Center and Angel at Straub Medical Center. Our full-time Courthouse Dogs help children who are victims of crime through the difficult legal process and include Clover at the Honolulu Prosecutor s Office and Faith at the Hawaii Prosecutor s Office. Our Community Outreach Programs benefit hundreds of people with special needs in Hawaii each week. These include the Veterans Program for veterans with physical disabilities and PTSD, the Ohana Program for groups like Easter Seals and special education classes, the Therapy Dog Program for residents of hospitals, nursing homes and homeless shelters, and the Workplace Readiness Program for high school students with special needs. Assistance Dogs of Hawaii is also a leader in Medical Scent Detection Research. We have completed groundbreaking research studies with Kapi olani Medical Center, Clinical Labs of Hawaii, and the Rehab Hospital of the Pacific, where dogs were trained to detect early stages of life-threatening infections. Our research has received international recognition and was presented at The Inaugural Conference on Medical Bio-Detection at Cambridge University. Our research results were also published in the Oxford Journals and mentioned in the New England Journal of Medicine. We invite you to partner with us this year as an Event Sponsor. ~ OUR MISSION ~ Assistance Dogs of Hawaii is a 501c(3) charitable organization that provides children and adults with disabilities professionally trained dogs that will increase their independence and enhance the quality of their lives. We are committed to serving people in Hawaii with special needs through our many Community Outreach Programs, and developing the potential dogs have to assist people in need. Assistance Dogs and lifetime follow-up support are provided free of charge. ~ OUR PUPPIES ~ During their one to two years of training, the dogs learn over 90 commands. When they have completed training, they are carefully matched with an applicant. Once a match is made, they attend an intensive Team Training Camp. Graduation is a time of celebration for the graduate teams, puppy raisers, trainers, and supporters. The teams become a part of the ADH ohana and receive life-time follow-up training and assistance.
