He also won his second major in Missouri!!! Potential new club members: None at this time. Cudahy Kennel Club Board Meeting January 17, 2017 The board meeting was called to order at 6:50 pm. Board Members present: Dirk Anderson, Wendy Anderson, Don Adams, Ricky Adams, Mary Beth Hackney, Nancy Freitag, Kay Pedersen, Fran Aring, Pam Brown, Kelly Beres. President s Message: As the Beatles once said, and in the end... My year in the presidency of CKC has been interesting to say the least. Not being a board member previously was a detriment. I realize now that politics is not my strong suit. Iʼm not going to do a blow by blow synopsis of the whole year. But in overview we had a good year in terms of hosting events. CAT continued to be successful. Fast CAT got off the ground and promises to be successful as well. Agility trials went well. The obedience trial in spring was not handled well and cost the club significant money. The conformation show ran smoothly (kudos to Don), however decreasing entries affected the bottom line. We are beginning barn hunts thanks to MaryBeth and Denise and that also should help CKC finances. Nose work is also on the horizon. 2017 should be a good year. It will require the club members to once again put in the time to pull off all the planned activities. Financially we are not ready to go to the bank for the loan to replace the roof. As president I did not get it replaced. I also can take partial credit for not making our training program more robust. Sorry to the club for those inadequacies. As I depart Iʼm most concerned about the contract with GRKC. Iʼm hopeful tonight we can get over the hump and get it done. And we did get it done. We will now have a combined conformation show with Greater Racine Kennel Club. Weʼll also hold a CAT test on the same grounds in Franksville in August. Reflecting on this upcoming year I feel that my role in the club is that of super volunteer. Iʼm a hands on guy. Tell me what needs to be done and Iʼll be there and do 4

it. The drama that Iʼve witnessed this past year made me feel like a referee and at times embarrassed. Remember that this is a club run by volunteers. 5 I believe that things will be better this year. There is cause for excitement. CAT, FCAT, barn hunt, nose work, seminars, hopefully a merged conformation show and most importantly a change in the guard. The building will get a logo and the club will take steps towards expanded community identity, through our marketing efforts. I do believe that our membership policies still need change. I didnʼt get that done this past year. Thanks for putting up with me this year. And letʼs not forget Barb Ryan. I sure havenʼt. To conclude my initial thought... the love you take is equal to the love you make. Respectfully submitted, Dirk Anderson CKC President Dirk Presented the plaque for Barb Ryan to the club. It will be hung in a prominent location in the club. We have a new snow plower. He will charge us $80/plowing. We need dates for Fast CAT. It was suggested that we do three weekends instead for four weekends and do four tests on each of the three weekends. It was also suggested that we use Cudahy Middle School for some of the tests due to the fact of needing less fencing at that location. Schutzhund Rental. Due to training method concerns raised by some board members the following motion was made by Don Adams. We will agree to to rent to the Schutzhund group with two provisions, 1) No shock/electronic collars to be used in the building and 2) the parking lot may not be plowed. Nancy Freitag seconded the motion. The motion passed with one abstention. Our agility tunnels are getting beat up and the question was asked if we can by one gently used tunnel from Jan Guthrie for $250. Wendy Anderson made a motion that we purchase a new tunnel for up to $350 or a used tunnel for up to $250. Don Adams seconded the motion. The motion passed with one abstention. There was discussion regarding the contract between Cudahy Kennel Club and Greater Racine Kennel Club for the cluster conformation shows in August. The discussion revolved around the contract that the CKC board worked on at the special board meeting held on January 3, 2017 and the December 12, 2016 contract that GRKC submitted and signed and the CKC Conformation Chair had modified. Bev Felton made a motion to approve the December 12, 2016 contract signed by GRKC. Nancy Freitag seconded the motion. There were 6 votes in favor, 2 votes opposed and 2 abstentions. The motion passed. The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 pm. 5
