Non-Jumping classes Veteran Handler: Disabled handlers or handlers aged 60 yrs. or older may opt to enter the non-jumping classes as a Veteran Handler and receive additional standard course time. This division is for handlers only. The additional SCT is for qualifying purposes only for those who may need the additional time to negotiation the course due to physical limitations. Veteran Handlers in the non-jumping classes will be scored and placed with their standard division jump height. When entering as a Veteran/Disabled Handler, you must enter all classes and all dogs in this division for the weekend. As of January-2014: Dogs must enter the Veterans Dog Division in all jumping classes after their 9th birthday. After their 12th birthday, dogs must enter the Skilled Category, Veterans Division for jumping classes and Skilled Category for non-jumping classes.
This is a Double Run Trial: Any classes offered twice in a day will run the same course twice with no second walk through. Intro Level courses are shorter in length than Novice courses. Jump heights can be chosen by the handler without regard to the dog s height, with 16 being the maximum jump height allowed. There are no contact/tunnel discriminations and the only class with weaves is Intro Weavers with one set of six. Swap Option: This trial offers a swap option. On Saturday where there is 1 round of Chances and 1 round of Jumpers you have the option to have a round 2 for one of those but you have to give up a jumping class to do it. For example you may choose to run 2 Chances, 1 Jumpers and 1 Regular. Any arrangement of jumping classes is acceptable, but you may only run in 4 of the 6 jumping classes. This is a Containerized Trial: FOOD/TOYS IN POCKET: Food or a small noiseless toy may be carried into the ring in your pocket provided it is contained in a Ziploc bag or small container such as a pill bottle. The container cannot be visible in the ring nor within 10 feet of the ring. You cannot indicate to your dog that you have this item on you i.e. patting your pocket. You are not allowed to remove the container until you are at least 10 feet outside the ring. All food and toys must be contained at the trial and none can be left lying about loose. This policy has been implemented to reduce the possibility of dogs fighting over loose food or toys, diminish dogs dragging their handlers back to their crates (or wherever they left their food), and to lessen the amount of insects that are around loose food. Levels: Dogs may not enter at a level higher than what they have completed previously. A dog that has not competed in NADAC previously MUST enter at the Intro or Novice level. Points Combining: In NADAC competitions, all points combine for titles and awards, regardless of category (Skilled or Proficient) or division (Junior Handler, Veteran Handler, Vet Dog, Standard). Special Awards: Purple Sands Agility offers bars and rosettes for NATCH qualifying runs. PSA also offers special awards for high in trial, most inspiring handler, loudest dog, and other special categories. At the end of each calendar year (June 2018 trial) a special Purple Sands Series award is presented to the overall high point champion. The champion will be determined based on scores from all 3 yearly trials, winner must attend at least 2 of the 3 trials (Dec, April & June). Hospitality: Purple Sands Agility is happy to provide hospitality services for it s volunteers. This includes snacks on Friday, snacks plus a cold cut smorgusboard on Saturday and snacks plus pizza on Sunday. Part of Your Entry Fee Will Be A Charitable Contribution: Purple Sands Agility is a 509(a)(2) tax-exempt charitable organization. In Spring 2019, Purple Sands Agility will notify you of the portion of your entry fee that can be claimed as a charitable donation.
