What we do! Zoology Foundation's mission is to improve the lives of animals through educational programming and rescue, and by teaching the connectedness between animals and humans. Freedom Service Dogs unleashes the potential of shelter dogs by transforming them into custom-trained, life-changing assistance dogs for people in need. Why we do it? Zoology Foundation chooses animals as the conduit of teaching balance between animals and people, and how we as humans can make their lives complete as living, feeling individuals; and in the end, saving ourselves. After all, all living things matter and deserve to be nurtured. We will better our lives and those of our children through enriching and respecting the lives of all animals, thus lessening the need to rescue our animals friends from a multitude of circumstances. Freedom Service Dogs custom-trains service shelter dogs to perform a multitude of tasks that increase the independence of their human partners, including military veterans, children and adults with disabilities such as autism, post-traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, multiple sclerosis, and spinal cord injuries. For these clients, daily tasks that were once impossible become possible with the help of a highly trained service dog, which is provided to them at no charge. T H E B E N E F I T S Vitamin C+ How can you help? We know that there are a ton of amazing nonprofits out there that do incredible things! We just hope that you will support our journey to improve the lives of humans and animals alike by helping our organizations. As responsible stewards of your sponsorship dollars, Zoology Foundation has partnered with Freedom Service Dogs to make every penny count. We all know how expensive fundraisers can be, so we thought, "Why not work together and fill all the seats at Comedy Works, laugh twice as much and and raise twice as much funds?" Zoology Foundation sent over $70,000 to Hurricane Harvey-related causes in 2017, seriously depleting our rescue fund. Freedom Service Dogs is in need of a new wheelchair-accessible van for transporting both people and dogs. In 2017, Freedom Service Dogs welcomed 198 dogs from shelters and rescue groups into their training program, successfully placed 29 service dogs and professional therapy dogs, and adopted 144 dogs that did not make it as service dogs into loving homes. Vitamin C+ T H E B E N E F I T S About our donors According to a survey conducted by the Colorado Nonprofit Association, of all those who give to Animal-Related Causes, 40% of those donors have higher incomes with 37% making over $100,000 per year. As far as their location, they live in the following metropolitan areas as listed below: Denver 44% / Central 38% / North 31% / South 31% / West 34% Zoology Foundation's donors specifically are families and individuals living in the south metro Denver, Highlands Ranch, Castle Rock, Castle Pines, Parker, Monument, Colorado Springs, Larkspur and Palmer Lake areas, with most being homeowners and pet owners, as well as horse enthusiasts in multiple areas of equestrian competition. We have seen a great increase in millennials becoming involved as not only is this a generation of individuals who are making their voices heard on multiple platforms, but they are changing the way Americans are shopping and spending their money on businesses that support their organizations. Freedom Service Dogs is a Colorado-based nonprofit with supporters across the country who are passionate about the potential of shelter dogs to change the lives of individuals with disabilities.
