FINAL A.H.A. Master Breeder Program Revisions By THE MASTER BREEDER COMMITTEE (HAROLD STRAWNIAK, CHAIRMAN) AHA MASTER BREEDER PROGRAM Objective: The purpose of the A.H.A. Master Breeder Program is to encourage excellence in the breeding of Helmets among its members. It represents a lifetime award designated to help the membership demonstrate their skills and ingenuity in the breeding pen and show room. It is a personal recognition for constructive effort on behalf of improving the breed. Procedure: The Points Director shall have overall responsibility for the administration of the program, subject to appeal of disputes to the Board of Directors. A Points Director shall be elected whose responsibility it shall be to review and certify official points based upon documented records. Maintenance of Records: The District Director shall maintain a file of all officially sanctioned AHA shows in his or her district, and upon doing so shall submit the official standardized AHA show report form to the Bulletin Editor within 30 days after the show for publication. The Points Director will review the show report forms directly from the bulletin, document and credit points to all qualified exhibitors. Also a complete file of show report forms of all sanctioned AHA District, Sectional and National shows shall be maintained by the Points Director for future reference. AHA Master Breeder points reports will be available for publication bi-yearly. Upon accumulation of the required points by a member the Points Director shall submit the name of the Master Breeder nominee to the Secretary-Treasurer for further consideration. Evaluation of Qualifications: Before being considered qualified for this award a nominee must have: A. Been certified by the Points Director as having earned, 1500 points for MFCL Crested or 1000 points for MFCL Plainhead or 500 points for SFCL Crested or 300 points for SFCL Plainhead or 300 points for MFM. B. For Grand Master Breeder Awards, breeders must have earned 1500 points for MFCL Crested, 1000 points for MFCL Plainhead, 500 points for SFCL Crested and 300 points for SFCL Plainhead in each variety respectively C. Served one full term as an AHA officer. D. Received the award of Breeder of the Year at least once. E. For Grand Master Breeder Awards, must have won the annual National Show at least once in each variety respectively, since the origin of the A.H.A. (1958) under the conditions set forth in Rules #1 - #7 below. Page 2

F. Won the Annual National Show at least once since the origin of the AHA (1958) under the conditions set forth in Rules #1 - #7 below. Bird must have been bred by exhibitor. G. Been a member in good standing of the AHA no less than ten consecutive years. Be of good character and reputation in the fancy and work in the club which was done for love of the hobby and not for personal gain. Adoption: Upon being determined by the Secretary-Treasurer and Points Director to be fully qualified on the basis of the above requirements, the Secretary-Treasurer will submit the name of the nominee(s) to the President of the American Helmet Association for final approval. Upon final approval from the President, the Secretary-Treasurer shall announce in the news bulletin the Master Breeder Achievement and plans for appropriate recognition. The award or awards, in cases where sufficient points have been earned by the breeder in two or more Helmet varieties, will specify the variety in which the member has qualified. Official Rules: (These rules shall not invalidate any points certified under previous rules.) 1. Official District Point Shows (maximum of FOUR) one young bird show and three all age, are to be designated by the District Directors as early in the year as practical; notice of these shows to be furnished to the Bulletin Editor and the Publicity Director for publication. Sectional and annual National shows are to be similarly publicized. 2. The official AHA Standard will be the basis for judging at all point shows. 3. Only shows with a total of thirty-five (35) or more Helmet entries (all varieties) qualify as official Point Shows. 4. Varieties (MFCL Crested, MFCL Plainhead, SFCL Crested, SFCL Plainhead, MFM) will be judged separately and will compete for points separately based on the following: A. A single variety must have a minimum of; 20 MFCL Crested, 15 MFCL Plainhead, 6 SFCL Crested, 5 SFCL Plainhead, 5 MFM B. A single variety must have a minimum of two exhibitors. The minimum must not be of the same residence. C. A single variety represented by less than above will not qualify for points. 5. Points shall be awarded only for point shows having a minimum of three exhibitors each of the minimum must be of separate residence. 6. While members may qualify for only four (4) district Point Shows per calendar year within their own district, they may earn points in two (2) district shows in each variety outside their own district provided it is an official AHA District Point show. There will be no limit to the number of Sectional Shows an exhibitor may exhibit at for Master Breeder points, plus the annual National Show. 7. If an exhibitor of a given bird is not the breeder, no points won by that bird will be credited to the exhibitor. All points won by a bird must go to the breeder of said bird (if that breeder is a member of the AHA). It shall be the responsibility of the exhibitor to keep the AHA show secretary posted on such changes. Page 3

8. A Junior Champion shall be picked from each variety that has a junior in competition. No breeder points shall be awarded for Junior Champions other than points received under rules 1 through 7 in the regular competition. The Junior Champion shall be the highest placing bird, owned by a Junior, in the lineup. If more than one Junior is exhibiting in a variety, and no Junior birds are in the lineup, each Junior exhibitor will pick their best two Helmets. These will then be judged to pick a Junior Champion. An award will be presented to the owner of the Junior Champion in each variety, preferably a pair of quality breeders. There shall be no competition between varieties by Junior exhibitors for an overall Junior Champion. Official Points: Official points will be determined by the following competitive factors: 1. The type of meet; District, Sectional, National 2. Number of birds representing a single variety. Only birds selected for final lineup are eligible for Master Breeder Points. The bird chosen as best Helmet in EACH variety shall determine how such master breeder points are distributed. Distribution of AHA Master Breeder Points: AHA official Master Breeder points will be awarded only to those breeders having entries in the final lineup of the show, providing official AHA rules have been adhered to. The official points system is set up to accommodate District, Sectional, and National shows. The distribution of Master Breeder points will be based on the Points Calculation Tables by Show Type and Number (next page). As the competition increases or decreases in any of the listed categories or event types, so do the total points. This Master Breeder Program may be amended at any time by a majority of the senior membership votes cast after compliance with the provisions of section A through E of Article V of the Constitution, except that under Section D only one News Bulletin review is necessary.
