YOUR SPONSORSHIP SUPPORTS CRITICAL LIFESAVING PROGRAMS At Providence Animal Center, formerly the Delco SPCA, we offer life-affirming rescue, medical care, treatment, protection and placement of companion animals that forever upholds the critical importance of the human-animal bond. Since 2015, Providence Animal Center has been undergoing historic facility improvements to the nearly 90-year-old shelter. In 2018, the Year of the Dog, we started updates to the dog kennels, which will be accomplished in two phases. Kennel revisions will be complete in the fall of 2019. Providence Animal Center is a 501(c)3 private nonprofit that is not affiliated with any county, government or other animal welfare agency. Providence Animal Center relies on private donations alone to continue our important work, such as: Rescue and adoption services In 2018, Providence Animal Center placed 3,664 animals into forever homes, many of them transferred to our lifesaving Center from overcrowded shelters through our TAILS (Transporting Animals Into Loving Situations) program. Without our help, these precious orphans would never receive a second chance. Low-cost veterinary & behavior services Providence Animal Center offers low-cost veterinary services including spay and neuter, pet dentals and soft-tissue surgeries, offsite vaccine clinics and preventative care through Wellness Clinics, offered 5 days a week, reaching thousands of clients who otherwise would not be able to afford to care for their pets. Subsidized spay and neuter programs are offered for cats and Pit Bulls in the community. In addition, low-cost behavior services are also available for dog owners, all in efforts to keep pets out of shelters and in loving homes. Pet food pantries for low-income families Through partnerships with local food pantries, Providence Animal Center provides over 500 pet meals monthly. Pet pantry clients have expressed that they would need to relinquish their pets to an animal shelter if not for the pet food pantry. Clients are also offered free vaccinations and spay/neuter surgeries annually as well as holiday treats. Humane Investigations Our Humane Society Police Officer investigates up to 1,200 instances of animal cruelty in Delaware County and Chester County every year. These animals are often relinquished to our care. When they are not, we fight for their justice in court. For many, it s a long and very costly road to recovery before they can be placed up for adoption.
