The wide choice available meant that it was a buyer s market with only the best loads achieving 40 per tonne, the majority in the 30 s but only three loads (including a load of loose silage) in the 20 s. Straw however was an improved trade with big bale barley straw up to 74 per tonne in square bales and 64 per tonne in round bales. Wheat and barley straw a similar trade at mostly 48 to 55 per tonne with a top load at 60 per tonne. Three loads of good quality small bale hay made 165 (twice) and 150 per tonne. Superior Lambs didn't seem to make as big a Premium over others, but maybe that was because all other Lambs were so much dearer! 34 Butchers Cattle 12.00 Noon Auctioneer: Jonathan Farrall 07796952948 Well what a difference a week makes, all classes of Cattle visibly dearer and a pleasure to sell. The only grumble came from the buyers who could have managed twice the amount! Best clean raced away to 250p/kg for a smart Heifer from the Wilcock family, further Heifers to 241 and 235p/ kg from the same stable. Brian Taylor was in amongst it too with Steers to 229 and 225p/kg grossing up to 1332.78, Messrs Hadfield sold a powerful Heifer to gross 1336.20, remember you get paid for every Kilo liveweight. Bulls also recorded a little more bite with a couple over 200p/kg and the majority a good 10p better than last week. Black and White`s to 182p/kg and 1055 in the lump.
