Panther Ridge Wild Feline Conservation Academy The Panther Ridge Wild Feline Conservation Academy is an intense feline centered education program for high school students who are interested in zoological sciences, veterinary medicine, wildlife conservation and other animal-related careers. This exciting 5 day program takes an inside look at endangered felines in captivity. Join us for the education of a lifetime! Ages: 14-18 Schedule: June 22-26 8:30 a.m. 4:00 p.m. Fee: $500.00 USD Frequently Asked Questions Activities: Our program activities include coursework in scientific order, proper methods in feline husbandry, diet, enrichment, and conservation relating to animals and careers. Arrival and Departure: The Academy runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sign-in and sign out at the front gate. Participants will be dismissed at 4:00 p.m. each day, and will not be supervised after this time. All participants must depart by 4:00 p.m. Supervision: Panther Ridge Wild Feline Conservation Academy participants will report to an education staff member. They will be with a qualified staff member while at the facility. For other projects, participants will work independently in pairs or small groups; participants are responsible for staying on the grounds and behaving professionally at all times. If participants behavior becomes disruptive they will dismissed from the program without a refund. What species will we will be learning about: The following species reside at Panther Ridge and will be covered by the academy instructors: jaguar, leopard, cheetah, puma, clouded leopard, ocelot, serval, and caracal.
What to Wear & Pack: Participants must wear long pants and closed-toed shoes and socks (no sandals) and comfortable clothes that can get dirty. Each participant will receive one free t-shirt; additional t-shirts may be purchased for a fee. Please wear and/or bring sunscreen and bug spray. Hats and water bottles are recommended. Cell phones and other electronics may not be used during program activities; Panther Ridge is not responsible for lost items. Lunch, Snacks and Water: Participants should bring their lunch/snacks in a cooler bag (we do not have refrigerated storage available.) Please bring a reusable water bottle. The Panther Ridge cannot guarantee that participants will not be exposed to peanuts, peanut butter or other nuts. This program is not recommended for students with severe allergies. How do I register? Please submit the attached registration form. Payment is due in full at the time of registration. Cash or Check is preferred. If not chosen from the program your registration fee will be reimbursed. Incomplete registrations will not be accepted and will not reserve a participant s spot. How will I know I am registered? Release Form I, agree, assume and understand what participation in the The Panther Ridge Wild Feline Conservation Academy entails. I agree, assume and understand that participation in the The Panther Ridge Wild Feline Conservation Academy and activities in all its forms may include "hazardous activities." These hazardous activities can include, but are not limited to activities in and around animal habitats, animal encounters and recreational activities. Participation also includes the use of the Panther Ridge facility. Equipment, supplies and/or materials which are provided by Panther Ridge may also involve risks of injury. I, on behalf of myself and my children, understand that it is my burden and obligation to insure that each child participates with care and control at all times. In using the facilities of the Panther Ridge and participating in these activities, on behalf of my children and myself, I understand and accept that hazards exist; assume the inherent risk that injury may result to myself or my children and agree to unconditionally and fully releases Panther Ridge, its respective employees, volunteers, assigns and/or agents and representatives from any and all past or future claims, demands, actions, causes of action, suits, or other liabilities of whatever kind, including, but not limited to, those arising out of the use of the Panther Ridge facilities, its respective employees, assigns and/or agents and representatives' alleged negligence. I give Panther Ridge permission to acquire emergency medical treatment if no parent or guardian or emergency contact can be reached. The terms of this agreement may not be modified by any employee, representative, agent and/or assigns of the aforementioned companies. Participant agrees to be solely liable and save harmless Panther Ridge, its respective employees, assigns and/or agents and representatives from liabilities, losses, injuries, damages or claims of any kind or nature arising out of his/her child s participation in camp activities of any kind or nature. Participant hereby waives any and all rights of recovery arising as a matter of law or otherwise which you might now or hereafter have against Panther Ridge, its respective employees, assigns and/or agents and representatives as set forth above. I hereby release, discharge and agree to hold harmless and to authorize Panther Ridge to use any photograph pictures or portraits, video or other media for any reason whatsoever,
including the use of any printed matter or other media (television, newspaper, Website, internet) in conjunction with Panther Ridge. Code of Conduct The Panther Ridge Wild Feline Conservation Academy is a unique opportunity, where participants may be in close proximity to animals, and represent Panther Ridge to visitors. We expect participants to behave in a professional and responsible way, including: Put safety first, including safety of themselves and the people and animals around them. Treat each other with respect. Follow directions of panther Ridge staff members. Stay on the Panther Ridge grounds at all times.
