STUDY GUIDE

About the Show Your favorite girl-and-cat duo is on the big stage and ready to have fun! Learn all about counting, shapes, math, and music in this new adaptation that draws from several different episodes of the beloved series to tell a handful of new stories. Join Peg and Cat as they take on grown up chores, make new friends, and solve some REALLY BIG PROBLEMS! Inspired by the Peg + Cat books and television show by Jennifer Oxley and Billy Aronson. Some of the activities in this study guide were based on those from https:// pbskids.org/peg/activities. The Characters Who are the actors in the show, and what characters will they be playing? LaDareon Copeland as Ramone / Opera Pig Amber Dickerson as Peg Zach Hasbany as Cat Brittany Law as Big Dog / Stagehand Leah Sanginiti as Mom / Mermaid / Bird

Before the Show Read the Books Watch the Peg + Cat show and read the Peg + Cat books! Theatre Etiquette It s helpful to review the rules of theatre etiquette before seeing a show, especially since this may be the first live theatre experience for some of your students. Please take a moment to discuss the following pointers prior to seeing the performance. Use the restroom before seeing the show as we do not have intermission during our school performances. Be respectful to the performers and other people in the audience by not talking during the performance. Remember, the actors can see and hear the audience just like you can see and hear them. Appropriate responses such as applause or laughter are always welcome. No photography or videotape recording of any kind. Please turn off all cell phones!

Get to the theatre! Peg and Cat need to get to the theatre for their Live show, but Big Dog is in the way! Can you count how many steps it would take to get the theatre if they travel different routes? Which way would be the fastest?

After the Show Three Dimensional Shapes! Can you help Wizard Ramone magically transform each flat, 2-dimensional shape to its solid, 3-dimensional counterpart? Draw a line from the shape on the left to it s new magical version on the right!

Free Write or Class Discussion Questions 1. When Mom asks them to deliver the letters, Peg and Cat are very excited to do a grown-up chore. What do you think makes something a grownup chore? How do you feel when someone asks you to do a grown-up chore? 2. Peg and Cat each get to hold two letters, and they decide to take turns holding the special red letter. Does this seem fair to you? Why or why not? Do you remember a time when something seemed unfair to you? 3. Peg and Cat are afraid of Big Dog when they first see her, but once they get a chance to meet her, they become great friends! Have you ever been afraid to meet someone? What happened when you finally met them? Did you make friends with them eventually? 4. Wizard Ramone s magic cylinder helps Peg find pyramids for the Mermaid, and later to help find Cat when he s missing. If you had magic powers, what would you like them to be? 5. Cat runs away when he s not having a good time playing with Peg and Big Dog, and then they have to find him. Do you think this was a good idea? Why or why not? What would you have done if you were Cat? 6. When Big Dog comes to play with Peg and Cat, Cat becomes angry and sad when he thinks that Peg likes Big Dog more than him. Have you ever felt jealous or angry? Why do you think you felt this way? What did you do to help get rid of those feelings? 7. What did you notice that made Peg + Cat Live different from the Peg + Cat books or television show? What did you notice about how the actors on stage spoke to the audience? What about the stagehands who helped with scene changes and props?

Shape Hunt Peg and Cat s world has turned black and white! They need you to find all the shapes below and color them in before they can leave the Highlight Zone.
