We received this undated correspondence on 21 October, 2012. We also received by email on 9 November, 2012 the report from the Modern Game Promotional Society s (MGPS) recent meeting discussing the proposed ringing scheme. The Feather Clubs Association of Queensland Inc. (FCAQI) recently held a Management Committee meeting where the MGPS correspondence was tabled and discussed. We have agreed to support the optional trial in concept and will recommend to our affiliated clubs to consider relaxing the rules in their show schedules to allow Modern Game Bantams to be shown with closed leg bands. Furthermore, we will consult with our affiliated clubs on their views as to whether the trial should be expanded to allow for other breeds in the future. We will advise the outcome of this consultation. It should be noted, the FCAQI have not given any support or approval for the ring register, movement requirements, registration process or ring sales as yet. This would need to be investigated after the optional trial has taken place and would be impacted by the success or failure of the optional trial. In closing, we wish your members every success in this optional trial and we will be in contact with the outcome of our consultations with our affiliated clubs. Yours sincerely Dejonn Simons On behalf of the FCAQI Management Committee.
3 SAPA From: gbwoods@adam.com.au To: rooeyone@bigpond.com Subject: RE: leg bands Date: Sun, 7 Oct 2012 07:47:41 +1030 Wayne, I did get the letter the second time around and good news! At our SAPA meeting on Wednesday night we agreed to allow Moderns banded under this trial to be exhibited at the state show and to recommend to our member clubs to allow banded birds also. The Royal is a different matter of course. Regards, Gavin. Adelaide Royal Wayne The Royal Adelaide Show has taken the following initiative. Need to let potential exhibitors know. Obviously birds with no rings WILL still be allowed to be shown The Modern Game Promotional Society is running a trial on solid rings. Modern Game breeders will be trialling solid rings this year. This is a bold and progressive move exactly 60 years after the Bantam Club of SA approached the Poultry Committee to have solid rings for poultry accepted at the Royal The request was refused. WING-BANDS, LEG-BANDS Insert Special concession For modern game bantams MGPS solid plastic rings size 12mm for cockerels and size 10 mm for pullets will be permitted on modern game bantams entered for the 2013 Royal Show. This applies only to modern Game and no other external rings will allowed. This trial is to determine whether solid rings (similar to pigeons) are a plausible biosecurity option. Tom Bowden
