Show Rules & Regulations and Instructions to Exhibitors 1. The Show will be held under the rules of the Irish Kennel Club Limited. 2. The Show will be held at The National Show Centre, Cloghran, Co. Dublin on Saturday 13th August, 2011. Judging will commence at 9.00 a.m in all rings including Obedience and Agility 3. No claim will be considered in the event of an exhibit being late for its class. No persons will be allowed into the judging ring except the Judge, Show Officials, or an Exhibitor taking a dog in for adjudication. The exhibit number of each dog must be clearly displayed by its handler. 4. In the event of any appointed Judge failing to keep his/her appointment, the Committee reserve the right to appoint another Judge or Judges. 5. The Committee reserve the right to alter the proposed order of judging if this should become necessary. 6. Entry Fees: First dog, 18.00 / Stg 16.00 Each subsequent dog: 7 00 / Stg 6.00. Obedience: 6.00 / Stg 5.00 per class. Agility: 3.00 / Stg 2 50 per class. 7. Entries will be received up to and including Tuesday 19 th July, 2011 (Postal). Online entries will be taken until midnight on Tuesday 26 th July 2011 at www.dogshowentry.ie. 8. The Committee reserve the right to reject any entry, advert or other insertion in the Catalogue. 9. Ineligible Entries. A transfer of an incorrect entry as to the sex or breed is allowed if reported to the Secretary s Office prior to commencement of judging. A dog entered in a class for which it is not eligible may b transferred to the Open Class in that breed, but in no other respects. 10. Registrations: All dogs entered for competition at this show must be registered at the IKC Ltd, Unit 36, Greenmount Offi e Park, Harold s Cross, Dublin 6. 11. A Judge will be empowered to withho d any prizes of Green Stars if, in his or her opinion, the exhibits are not of sufficient merit. 12. The Catalogue will be available on the day of the show, price 4.00 / 3.00 or Prepaid with entries 3.00 / 2.50. 13. Car Park is FREE 14. The Catalogue will be comp led from the entry forms and while every effort will be made to have the forms correctly interpreted, the Committee cannot accept any responsibility for mistakes, which may bring exhibitors within the purview of the IKC Ltd., Rule 15, Section 1, or for clerical errors that may occur during compilation. 15. The Promoting Body will not be responsible for any loss or damage sustained through accident by exhibits, exhibitors, or other persons attending the Show. Note: Addition to IKC Rule 7, Section 1 Re: registration of dogs entered Failure to comply with the above will result in: (A) The Dog being disqualified from the event, and (B) The Exhibitor being find Euro 130. PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOUR DOG IS REGISTERED CORRECTLY BEFORE THE DAY OF THE SHOW AND WHERE POSSIBLE ENSURE TO FILL IN THE REGISTRATION NUMBER ON THE ENTRY FORM IF YOU FAIL TO CLEAN UP AFTER YOUR EXHIBIT YOU ARE LIABLE TO A 30 FINE 1

CLASS DEFINITIONS (the word dog denotes both sexes) In the following definitions any award which counts towards the title of Champion under the rules of any Governing body recognised by the Irish Kennel Club will be regarded as the equivalent of a Green Star. Similarly, the title of Champion is continued as if it were attained under the rules of the Irish Kennel Club. A Puppy Class is confined to dogs of 6 months and under 12 months of age on the day of the Show computed from and inclusive of the date of its birth. A Junior Class is confined to dogs of between 9 and 18 months of age on the day of the Show computed from and inclusive of the date of its birth. An Intermediate Class is for dogs between 15 and 24 months of age on the day of the Show computed from and inclusive of the date of its birth. An Open Class is for dogs over 15 months of age on the first day of the Show computed from and inclusive of the date of its birth. A Champion Class is for dogs who have gained the Title of Champion under Irish Kennel Club Rules or under a recognised Kennel authority confirmed by the date of closing of entries of the show, ie. Friday 25th April, 2008. A Veteran Class is for dogs over 8 years of age on the day of the Show computed from and inclusive of the date of its birth. Note: (a) A Veteran dog/bitch who is also a Champion may entered in either Veteran or Champion but not both. (b) A Dog or Bitch may be entered in one breed class only. Dogs under the age of six months are not allowed into the show grounds. All dogs entered must be registered or transferred at the Irish Kennel Club in the name of the exhibitor. BEGINNERS OBEDIENCE CLASS Confined to dogs or handlers which have not been awarded an Obedience Green Star or awarded three or more first prizes (on o under 10 marks) in any obedience test under Irish Kennel Club Rules or under any Kennel Club recognised by The Irish Kennel Club. NOVICE OBEDIENCE CLASS Confined to dogs which ha e not been awarded an Obedience Green Star or four or more first prizes (on or unde 10 marks under Irish Kennel Club regulations) in any Obedience class other than in Beginners Obedience class. CLASS A OBEDIENCE (GRADUATE) Confined to dogs which have not been awarded an Obedience Green Star or four or more first prizes (on or under 10 marks under Irish Kennel Club regulations) in any Obedience Class other than in Beginners and Novice Obedience classes. CLASS B OBEDIENCE (LIMIT) Confined to dogs which have not been awarded a Green Star or four or more first prizes (on or under 10 marks under Irish Kennel Club regulations) in any Obedience Classes with the exception of Beginners, Novice or Graduate Obedience classes. CLASS C CH. OBEDIENCE (OPEN) Open to all. 2

AGILITY CLASS DEFINITIONS - 2011 Grade 1 For handlers or dogs which have not gained a first place in an Agility Class or three first places in Jumping Classes at Irish Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows. N.B. Handlers or dogs previously qualified out of Grade 1 are not eligible for this class. Grade 2 For handlers or dogs which have qualified out of Grade 1 but have not gained a first place in an Agility Class or three first places in Jumping Classes at Grade 2 at Irish Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows, or elected to progress on points from Grade 1. N.B. Handlers or dogs previously qualified out of Grade 1 are not eligible for this class. Grade 3 Open to dogs which are not eligible for Grade 1 or 2 or have elected to progress on points from Grade 2 at Irish Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows and dogs which are not eligible for Grade 4, 5, 6 or 7. Grade 4 Open to dogs which have gained a first place in an Agility Class or three first places in Jumping Classes at Grade 3 or elected to progress on points from Grade 3 at Irish Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows and dogs which are not eligible for Grade 3, 5, 6 or 7. Grade 5 Open to dogs which have gained a first place in an Agility Class or three first places in Jumping Classes at Grade 4 or elected to progress on poin s from Grade 4 at Irish Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows and dogs which are not eligible for Grade 3, 4, 6 or 7. Grade 6 Open to dogs which have gained a first place in an Agility Class or three first places in Jumping Classes at Grade 5 at Irish Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows and dogs which are not eligible for Grade 3, 4, 5 or 7. Grade 7 Open to dogs which have gained a minimum of four first places at Grade 6 at Irish Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows. Two first places must be gained in Agility (not Jumping) Classes. Green Star Agility Class Open to dogs having qualified to compete in Grade 7. To consist of 2 qualifying rounds of Irish Kennel Club Classes, 1 Agility Class and 1 Jumping Class and a final round of Agility to be held at the same Show. An Introduction to our Judges Mr Fred Peddie (Canada); A warm welcome to Fred on a return visit to Ireland. One of the world s most popular and most sought after judges, he has owned the top winning Chow Chows (including a Westminster Group winning Chow) and French Bulldogs. We hope he enjoys his visit to Ireland and Navan Dog Show. Mr. Des Malone (Ireland); Successful and popular exhibitor of German Shepherds under the Earlville prefix. We are sure he will get a bumper entry and we hope he enjoys his judging with us today. A list of trophies and specials on offer will be printed in the Catalogue JAPANESE AKITA Exhibitors please note that the Japanese Akita as a breed no longer exists. There are now two breeds, American Akita and Akita Inu. Both these breeds have their own standard. Once a dog has been assessed as being either of the two breeds it can then be shown in the appropriate classes. At all shows where there are entries of unassessed Akitas, three of the assessors on the panel drawn up by the Irish Kennel Club will be asked to attend and divide the dogs prior to judging of the breeds. 10
