Cancellation of a Trial A trial can be cancelled at any time before or during a show by reasons of riots, civil disturbances, fire, an act of god, public emergency, act of a public enemy, extreme weather conditions or any other cause beyond the control of the Trial Committee. ESSFTA reserves the right to cancel the event in extreme weather conditions. The well being of the dogs, exhibitors and spectators is of paramount importance. Eligibility This trial is open All dogs fifteen (15) months of age or older that are registered with the AKC or that have AKC Limited Registration, Indefinite Listing Privileges (ILP) or an Approved FSS Breed are eligible to participate. Bitches in season, aggressive, blind or deaf dogs or dogs suffering from any deformity, injury or illness which may affect the dog s physical or mental performance are ineligible to participate. Exhibitor Information Bitches in season are not eligible to participate. Obstacles: Obstacles used will be in compliance with specifications in the AKC Regulations for Agility Trials, Ch. 3, Ch. 8, sec.7 & Ch. 10, sec. 9. Height Cards All information and rules for height cards can be found in AKC Regulations for Agility Trials, Chapter 2, Sec. 4. If you do not have a height card you may still enter a show. When you get to the show a Judge of Record must measure your dog PRIOR to competing, except for 24 class dogs, unless there is a Volunteer Measuring Official (VMO) or Field Representative present. Judges will measure dogs before the first class of the day and between judging classes. Height Divisions Owners are responsible for entering the proper height divisions. All dogs entered must submit a copy of their permanent height card or a valid temporary card or be measured by the judge of record prior to competing. This excludes dogs jumping in the 24-inch height division unless an AKC Representative or a Volunteer Measuring Official are present or dogs with height cards on file with the trial secretary. Height divisions for Regular Titling classes 8 Inches...For dogs 11 inches and under at the whithers 12 Inches....For dogs 14 inches and under at the whithers 16 Inches... For dogs 18 inches and under at the whithers 20 Inches...For dogs 22 inches and under at the whithers 24 Inches...For dogs over 22 inches at the whithers 26 Inches Dogs may be entered at this height at their owner's discretion. Exhibitors may choose to enter their dog in a higher height division than required by AKC, but not in a height division lower than the AKC mandated height Height Divisions for Preferred Titling classes 4 Inches...For dogs 11 inches and under at the whithers 8 Inches..For dogs 14 inches and under at the whithers 12 Inches. For dogs 18 inches and under at the whithers 16 Inches....For dogs 22 inches and under at the whithers 20 Inches..For dogs over 22 inches at the whithers All dogs entering the Preferred Classes for the first time MUST enter at the NOVICE level in both Pref. Std. & Pref. JWW. You may not combine regular and preferred classes. AKC REGULATIONS FOR AGILITY TRIALS : Copies of this booklet may be obtained by writing the AKC at 5580 Centerview Drive, Raleigh, NC 27606-9767 or from the AKC website: www.akc.org. Exhibitors are expected to be familiar with these rules and with the agreement on the reverse side of the entry in this premium. Class Information: Entry requirements for each class are listed in Ch. 2, sec.1 and Ch. 8, sec. 3 & 4 of the AKC Regulations for Agility Trials amended 9/1/02. Novice A is for dogs that have never acquired any AKC Agility title. Dogs in Novice A must be handled by a person that has never put an AKC Agility title on a dog and the handler must be the owner, co-owner or a member of the owner s household. Dogs eligible for Novice A may be entered in the Novice B class at the discretion of the owner. Everyone else enters Novice B. Preferred: All dogs entering the Preferred Classes for the first time MUST enter the novice level in any Preferred class regardless of their previous title level in the Regular classes. DOGS IN THE PREFERRED CLASS MUST JUMP THEIR PREFERRED CLASS JUMP HEIGHT. THEY MAY NOT ENTER HIGHER. Dogs cannot be entered in Regular and Preferred Classes on the same weekend. Dogs may switch back and forth between Regular and Preferred but not at the same trial. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE OWNER OR THE AGENT TO ENTER THE APPROPRIATE CLASS. THE CLUB AND/OR THE TRIAL SECRETARY ASSUME(S) NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR WRONG OR INCOMPLETE INFORMATION GIVEN ON THE ENTRY BLANK BY THE OWNER OR THE OWNER S AGENT. Course Familiarization and Warm-ups: Handlers in all classes are permitted to walk the course, without a dog, prior to the start of the class. A warm-up area, consisting of a regulation agility jump, shall be provided for all exhibitors. Prizes and Awards Regular & Preferred: Rosettes will be awarded to the 1 st through 4 th place dog in each jump height, in each class. A qualifying ribbon will be awarded to all dogs receiving a qualifying score. All prizes, awards and ribbons must be picked up before the end of the show. No ribbons, etc. will be mailed after the show. High In Trial and High Combined Special Awards on October 10 th only High in Trial Only Regular Standard (not JWW or Preferred) scores count. Run must be clean with a score of 100. Highest single point total will be awarded high in trial award. Point total is determined with the following formula: Novice = seconds under standard course time (SCT). Open = seconds under SCT multiplied by 1.5. Excellent = seconds under SCT multiplied by 2. High Combined - Must qualify in both Standard and Jumpers with Weaves with a score of 100 in each class, award will be determined by seconds under standard course time from the Excellent B Regular classes only. In consideration of the acceptance of this entry and of the holding of this event and of the opportunity to have the dog judged and to win prizes, ribbons, or trophies, I (we) agree to hold the AKC, the event-giving club, their members, directors, governors, officers, agents, superintendents or event secretary and the owner and/or lessor of the premises and any provider of services that are necessary to hold this event and any employees or volunteers of the aforementioned parties, and any AKC approved judge, judging at this event, harmless from any claim for loss or injury which may be alleged to have been caused directly or indirectly to any person or thing by the act of this dog while in or about the event premises or grounds or near any entrance thereto, and I (we) personally assume all responsibility and liability for any such claim; and I (we) further agree to hold the aforementioned parties harmless from any claim for loss, injury or damage to this dog. All dogs that have not been officially measured for an Agility Jump Height Card may still compete; however, they must be measured by a Judge of record, an Agility Field Representative, or a Volunteer Measuring Official, prior to running. The Judge's measurement will be valid for this trial or back-to-back trials only. If a measurement is necessary, it is the exhibitor's responsibility to have their dog(s) measured prior to running.
