Channel Islands Obedience Finals 2016 & Limit Show Welcome to the second Channel Islands Obedience Finals, this year being hosted in Jersey. Also we will be having a Limit show on Saturday, with the Finals on Sunday. The show will be at the Jersey Accommodation & Activity Centre, St Martin, the venue has plenty of indoor accommodation (dogs are allowed in rooms) and the camping is right by the show for Caravans, Motorhomes and tents. Order of classes will be provided with running orders. Evening meal - Saturday night We are organising an evening meal in Barney s Restaurant at the venue. Definition of Classes Dogs are ineligible to compete at Limited Shows which have won an Obedience Certificate or obtained any award that counts towards the title of Obedience Champion under the rules of any governing body recognised by the Kennel Club. Obedience Champions are only eligible to compete in Class C at Open and Championship Shows. A dog must be entered in the lowest scheduled class for which it is eligible and may also be entered in another class if desired plus one additional class at the society s discretion. Pre-beginners: To compete in Pre-Beginners a handler or dog must not have won a First Prize in either Pre-Beginners or Beginners nor gained a third place or above in any other obedience class. (Introductory Class excepted). Beginners: To compete in Beginners a handler or dog must not have won a total of two or more First Prizes in Beginners Class, or one First Prize in any other Obedience Class. (Introductory Class and Pre-Beginners excepted). Novice: For dogs which have not won two First Prizes in Obedience Classes. (Introductory Class, Pre-Beginners and Beginners excepted). Class A: For dogs which have not won three First Prizes in Class A, B and Open Class C in total. Class B: For dogs which have not won three first prizes in Class B and Open Class C in total. Open Class C: At Limited Shows, open to all dogs except Obedience Certificate winners and dogs which have obtained any award that counts towards the title of Obedience Champion or the equivalent thereof under the rules of any governing body recognised by the Kennel Club.

Order of classes will be provided with running orders. Qualification criteria To be held annually, alternating between Guernsey and Jersey on the second or third weekend of September. The Qualifying period for entries is from September the previous year to August in the current year. The entry fee per class should be the same for everyone. Qualifying will be based on a points system. Points will be gained for being placed 1 st 6 th at any Limit or Open shows held in the Channel Islands within the qualifying period detailed above. Points will be allocated as follows: 1 st - 10 points / 2 nd 8 - points / 3 rd - 6 points / 4 th - 4 points / 5 th - 2 points / 6 th - 1 point Points can be used to qualify for the class in which they are attained only for example, points gained for places in class A may only be accumulated to qualify for the A Class at the Channel Islands Obedience Class Finals and may not be transferred to another class, even if the dog is currently eligible to compete at the Novice level. Qualifying points needed for each class are as follows: Pre-Beginner - 10 points / Beginner - 10 points / Novice - 10 points / Class A - 10 points / Class B 10 points / Class C - 10 points A dog can be entered in as many classes as it has qualified for and handlers may enter more than 1 dog, as long as each dog is suitably qualified for the class in which it is entered. If not many dogs have qualified for a particular class the organising committee may invite more dogs based on the next highest points.
Rules & Regulations - Limit Show These rules and regulations are to be read in conjunction with the Kennel Club of Jersey Obedience Regulations (Jersey) under which this show is licensed. It is the responsibility of everyone entering this show to make themselves familiar with the Kennel Club of Jersey Obedience Regulations (Jersey), available from the Kennel Club of Jersey. 1. Dogs entered at Kennel Club of Jersey licensed Obedience Shows must be registered with the Kennel Club of Jersey or Guernsey Kennel Club in accordance with Kennel Club of Jersey s Regulations for Classification and Registration. 2. Only dogs of six calendar months of age and over are eligible for competition at Kennel Club of Jersey licensed Obedience Shows. 3. Entry is limited to European residents for the Limited show only on Saturday. 4. Dogs which have won an Obedience Certificate or obtained any award that counts towards the title of Obedience Champion under the rules of any governing body recognised by the Kennel Club of Jersey are not eligible for entry at the Limited Show on Saturday. 5. Not for competition entries will be accepted for dogs aged four calendar months and over. Dogs must be Kennel Club of Jersey or Guernsey Kennel Club registered with their full details recorded on the entry form. 6. Online entries accepted via www.withyourdog.co.uk 7. Running orders will be will be sent by email to relevant competitors unless a competitor has clearly stated they wish to receive their running orders by post. 8. The Committee reserves to itself the right to refuse entries. 9. In the event that the show is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, the society will refund fees, less reasonably incurred expenses. If the show processor has the provisions to do so, competitors will be refunded in the manner in which they had entered the show, but in any event the society will refund fees within 3 months of the show date to all those who had entered and requested a refund within 1 month of the show date. 10. Where dogs are entered solely in classes with a full running order they will be received at any time. It is the exhibitors responsibility to ensure that exhibits are available for judging when required. 11. For the duration of the show all dogs, including those in the exercise area, must be on a lead except when competing or practising prior to competition. 12. Animals allowed in Event. No animal other than one officially entered shall be brought into the precincts of the event during its continuance, except any dogs registered to assist the disabled, or dogs required for educational or instructional purposes or by permission of the General Committee. However, at the discretion of the show society, a dog brought to the show by a spectator may be admitted into the precincts of the dog show, with the proviso that those in charge of the dog sign a declaration confirming the dog is free from disease and that the dog will be kept under proper control at all times. 13. Following discussion between the Chief Steward and the show management, a dog shall be removed from the Show if it is:- a. A bitch which is in season. b. Suffering from any infectious or contagious disease. c. Interfering with the safety or chance of winning of an opponent. d. Of such temperament as to be a danger to the safety of any person or other animal. e. Likely to cause suffering to the dog if it continues competing. 14. Dogs will be disqualified if proved to have been handled in the class by the scheduled judge s spouse or immediate family, or resident at the same address as the scheduled judge. 15. No person shall carry out punitive correction or harsh handling of a dog at any time within the boundaries of the Show. 16. No competitor shall impugn the decision of the Judge or Judges. 17. Should a judge be unable to fulfill the appointment to judge the Committee reserves the right to appoint another judge. 18. Should circumstances so dictate the Society, in consultation with the judges, may alter arrangements as necessary. Such changes and the circumstances surrounding them will be reported to the Kennel Club of Jersey. 19. No prize money is on offer. 20. The shows main sponsors are Royal Canin and IDTC Guernsey. 21. DOGS IN CARS ON HOT DAYS. Your dog is vulnerable and AT RISK if left in a vehicle in high temperatures and even on days considered as slightly warm. Please take care of your dog. If your dog is found to be at risk forcible entry to your vehicle may be necessary without liability for any damage caused. 22. Welfare of Dogs A competitor whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club of Jersey licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not knowingly put their dogs health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Any disciplinary action resulting from the breach of this regulation is the responsibility of the organising Club.
