This will be applied toward the purchase price. Payments may be made if agreed upon by buyer and seller and will be non-refundable. Puppy will not be available to go to his/her new home until he/she is completely paid for. This Great Dane is of healthy temperament and structure and embodies the basic standard of the Great Dane breed. Initial Veterinarian Check-Up Puppy must be seen by a veterinarian of the buyers choice within 72 hours of taking possession. This does not include Saturdays and Sundays. A copy of the vet exam must be sent to the breeder within two weeks or this contract is null and void. If puppy is found to be unsound or not well with a life-threatening illness or condition, a full refund or replacement of puppy will be granted to buyer at the discretion of the breeder. Puppy must be returned to the breeder within 72 hours of veterinary diagnosis with all documentation provided. Initials of buyer and seller signify agreement and understanding of this section (repeated in every section) Ear Cropping If the buyer is having ears cropped, the breeder does not guarantee cropped ears to stand. It is the responsibility of the buyer to properly tape, post, and train ears to stand. Due diligence must be given to ensure the ears stand. There are many videos on YouTube to show proper methods as well as many online groups for cropping. Initials Temperament and Training Breeder does not guarantee the temperament of the puppy once he/she is placed in the buyer s possession. Our puppies are well socialized around children and other dogs and deemed to be of sound temperament at the time of purchase. As a responsible breeder, we expect the buyer to enroll in obedience classes to train and socialize their new puppy. We recommend obedience and socialization classes at the youngest age possible. Initials Food and Nutrition Recognizing that many disorders have been linked to improper nutrition of a Great Dane puppy, the buyer agrees to NEVER feed any regular puppy food, as the protein levels is too high for a giant breed dog. The buyer agrees to feed only top quality dog food with appropriate protein levels suitable for a Great Dane, which is 25% or LESS. Any guarantee placed on this puppy will be immediately voided if it is found that the puppy has been improperly fed and no documentation of brand/quality of food can be provided to dispute this fact. It is recommended that you keep a record and receipts showing the type of food you are purchasing for your new puppy while under the contract period. Distinguished Danes can assist you in choosing the right food. We recommend Hank s Dog Food Giant Breed Formula as this is what we feed it to all of our dogs and puppies. This is what your puppy has been weaned on to. For non-local people that do not have access to this food, we recommend Diamond Hi-Energy or Diamond Large Breed Chicken and Rice formula Health Guarantee I, as the seller, guarantee your puppy for 24 months from the date of his/her birth against life threatening congenital defects. If, within that time, a life threatening congenital defect is found that would cause your dog to be euthanized,, the seller will replace this puppy with another puppy of equal quality and sex at no charge. No money will be refunded. To keep this guarantee, your puppy must have all needed vaccinations by a licensed veterinarian and currently be on heart worm prevention. In the unlikely event of a puppy s death within 1 year from the date of birth die to a life threatening congenital defect, a signed statement from a licensed veterinarian confirming such even as well as an autopsy is required. Please note that in no circumstances will the seller be responsible for veterinary care or medical bills inquired. If the puppy dies within 1 year, the autopsy must be performed by a DVM and the results be sent to the seller in writing before a replacement puppy will be considered. The results of the autopsy will determine whether a replacement puppy is give from the same sire and dam. If no puppy of equal value is available from an upcoming litter, the purchase price of the deceased puppy will be put towards one that is available. Buyer will be responsible for the difference in prices. Initials: Vaccinations The breeder guarantees this puppy to be in good health at the time of pick up or delivery. The seller will provide a vaccination record of the purchased puppy. If the puppy is due for vaccinations and the new owner does not give the needed vaccines, the puppy can contract diseases. If the puppy contracts a disease that could have been prevented via proper vaccinations, then this guarantee is null and void. Not Covered Under Health Guarantee Seller does not guarantee against hypoglycemia or any other common health issues such as diarrhea, wormy stool, coccidiosis, external parasites, cherry eyes, demodectic mange, and stress due to shipping or new environment. Seller is not responsible for immunity levels, mites, pneumonia, heatstroke, ringworm, conjunctivitis, fleas, ticks, and ear infections once a puppy has left the breeder. Buyer is responsible for keeping their puppy away from contaminated areas, out of the heat and cold, drafty places. Guarantee does NOT apply to any health related problem such as nutrition, accidents, or illnesses that were not contracted before possession or delivery of this Great Dane. Initials: Environment and Treatment Here at Distinguished Danes out #1 goal is to raise happy, healthy Great Dane puppies that will better the Great Dane breed. Because of this, we are very passionate about our puppies being well taken care of for the entire duration of their lives. Great Danes are extremely social, family oriented animals. Your dog must reside indoors and not be chained or tied out for any length of time. They will not thrive being left outdoors on their own accord. The potential to become aggressive, develop separation anxiety, or OCD tendencies is a huge concern when a Great Dane is ignoring and left alone for the majority of the day. The puppy shall be confined from traffic with access to a fenced yard, properly sheltered, and given all the love and attention in the world. Our dogs must be family members as well as pets. Fresh food and water must be provided at all times. Living conditions of this Great Dane must be clean and supervised. The breeder agrees to provide lifetime support and information regarding grooming, caretaking, socializing, and training of this Great Dane. We want all of our babies to live full, happy and healthy lives and we like to play an active role in helping any way we can. Initials: Spay/Neuter Agreement This agreement is legal and binding. If purchasing a puppy as "pet only, limited registration you will be required to have your puppy spayed/neutered before any registration papers are received by the purchaser. AKC or CKC papers on dog or puppy will be withheld until notification of altering of the animal is received and verified. Neutering a male eliminates the possibility of testicular tumors and efficiently reduces the chance of prostate problems. Neutering decreases the chance of perianal tumors and hernias, that are in older, unneutered males. Neutered males are less likely to escape a yard and find a female in heat. This reduces the chance of them being hit by cars, getting into fights or lost. Females spayed before their first estrous cycle increases her chance of mammary tumors, ovarian cancer and uterine infection A spayed female eliminates the neighborhood stray males from coming over or through your fence to breed with her. Permanent ownership of this dog is contingent upon your compliance with this Addendum. Proof of the spay/neuter must be received by the buyer within fourteen (14) days after the surgery. In the event that the dog s health does not allow this agreement to be honored, Distinguished Danes must be provided with a statement from your veterinarian that this dog is not yet in physical or emotional condition for surgery. Based upon the veterinarian s evaluation of this dog the buyer will contact the veterinarian and establish the earliest date that the procedure can be performed. Buyer will notify the breeder of this amendment in writing, at which time all other conditions of this agreement will apply and be enforced. This is the responsibility of the buyer, not the veterinarian, to ensure that Distinguished Danes has received verification that the surgery has been performed. Failure to comply with this agreement by the date below, unless otherwise agreed to in writing, will be considered a breach of the Contract, and buyer will transport this dog back to Distinguished Danes and will not be entitled to a refund. By my signature below, I agree to have this dog spayed/neutered by no later than, and I understand that this spay/neuter agreement is an agreement that this dog will not produce a litter of puppies either as purposely bred or by accidental breeding. I also agree that should puppy not be altered that I will return said puppy back to Distinguished Danes with no refund. Initials: Contact Pictures and contact with the breeder must be provided by buyer at least once a month for the duration of the health guarantee and hopefully long after. ways we can see how our offspring are turning out and if we should continue a specific breeding line. If contact is not kept, this is cause for termination of all guaranties. We will not honor any health guarantee if we are unable to see how the puppy is doing throughout the months. Initials: Return Clause This puppy is under NO CIRCUMSTANCES to be sold, given away, or turned over to a rescue or shelter of any kind. If buyer can no longer keep their puppy/dog for any reason, the puppy is to be returned to the breeder along with all registration paperwork signed over to the breeder. The breeder will then assess the dog and place them in a new home that is more suitable. We will go through all the proper channels to get to know the prospective new owner so we feel comfortable where our baby will end up. We do this to ensure that none of our puppies that have been sold will end up in a rescue, euthanized, and rejected because no one wants them or they end up somewhere unsafe. We created this animal and feel responsible for its well-being for the duration of its life. The puppy, at no time, may be transferred, sold, given as a gift or in any other manner allowed to be obtained by any animal retailer, wholesaler, laboratory, shelter, or anyone who deals with the selling of dogs in any commercial manner. If the buyer places this Great Dane elsewhere and negates this contact, the breeder will use whatever means and authorities necessary to recover this Great Dane by right of this contractual agreement. All recovery costs will be the responsibility of the buyer, as well as any court costs or attorney fees if we are forced to use them to take repossession. Initials: In addition, if the buyer is ever charged or convicted of animal abuse or cruelty by any state, local, or federal agency, the buyer forfeits all rights to the Great Dane puppy and will immediately turn over custody to the breeder. The buyer will not receive any refund of monies paid to the seller. Initials: AKC Naming Requirement We at Distinguished Danes are proud of the lines we have built and the time and love we have put into this wonderful breed. Because if this, we require that when you name your puppy through AKC, you include the word "Distinguished" somewhere in the name.
