Page 3 of 6 AKC Kid's Corner 2011 Art Contest Launched The American Kennel Club is pleased to announce the 2011 AKC Kids Corner Art Contest is now open for entries. The contest is in honor of the release of the new safety video "The Dog Listener. Be safe around dogs: Become a Dog Listener!" which educates school children how to steer clear of potentially dangerous situations by teaching them how to greet a dog, how to respect a dog s space (by learning to hear it s nonverbal communication) and how to avoid a stray dog, and what to do when they see a group of loose dogs. School children between the grades K-8th are encouraged to submit artwork showing how their dog expresses his or her mood. Judging is done in two parts to accommodate school schedules. Artwork is accepted throughout the year until 10/31/2011 with judging taking place in May for art work received on or before April 30, 2011 and again in November for artwork received after the April deadline and before 10/31/2011. For more information and an entry form contact the Public Education department at publiced@akc.org or 919-816-3722.
