In This Issue: A Message from our President Ken Walker September Back to School, End of Summer, and hundreds of AKC affiliated clubs and other dog organizations will be celebrating AKC Responsible Dog Ownership Day all across the country. Scott DeMauex and Jamie Hootman (assisted by Dawn DeMauex) are organizing GKC s event to be held September 24th. I know many of you are already involved with this event, but if you have not yet offered your services, please contact Scott, Jamie or Dawn. Please share information on this event with your friends, neighbors, and coworkers. Sept. Deb and I (and our 11 month Elkhound, Annie) are on an extended trip through the Northeast and Canada s Atlantic Provinces. I am preparing this from Cavendish, Prince Edward Island Canada. Interested in conformation and performance, new to both, approx. 1 yr. Joyce Hetager Breed: Bostons She has lived in the Greenville area since 1996. Heather Moran is her daughter. Her dogs are pets, but she is interested in supporting her daughter's efforts, and in learning more about the dog fancy and training. She does not breed. Trish Mitchell Breed: Samoyed. Kennel Name: Koukla Samoyeds Trish has lived in this area all her life. She is an exhibitor and breeder, and has conformation and performance experience with 40 years in the fancy. Jamie Clute Breeds: Australian Shepherd, German Shepherd. Kennel name: Taylormade Jamie is a conformation exhibitor, breeder, and professional all breed handler with 35 years in the fancy. Members Brags Thecla Tyner Ky's Vizslas How exciting Greensboro and Raleigh shows were for Ky's Vizslas! Our girl Rosie, CH Ky's Wynn'N Gold Rose, who earned her championship at our Greenville shows, began her show career to work on her Grand Championship in Greensboro and earned 11 pts with 2 majors, and then in Raleigh pick up two more wins which now gives her 15 points! We are so proud of Rosie! Our girl Kimber, Jakra's N Ky's KImber Flirt'N Fantsy, who in Greenville at our VCC specialty was selected as Best in Sweeps, showed well and received RW in Greensboro a couple of days and in Raleigh was RW on two days drum roll please! W/BW/B on Saturday for her 1st points and a 4 point major! Looking forward to watching this yearling grow up!

(Please pardon the bracing...it was his first time on a platform at the end of a long day.)
Sunshine Committee Becky Ward Wishing a very speedy recovery to Debbie McLees after her recent surgery. She was in good spirits when I spoke with her after her surgery so I hope she is continuing to heal and feeling better. Lisa Jumper was injured at work when she accidentally hit the top of her head and required stitches. Lisa is now feeling better and we all wish her the best of health and be careful!!! I would like to send some sunshine to Jackie Mathis and her family as she has had various health situations in her family so we wish her well and hope to see her soon at a meeting. Also sending wishes for a quick recovery to Linda Knorr, who fell while traveling and broke some ribs. I hope everyone is well and see you at the September meeting.
