Holland Pat O Connor Bonny Silva Karen Coombs Kathleen McKnight The following board members were present: Trudy Kerr Kathy Rosdail Rebecca Logsdon Sharon Sampson Yvonne Samuelson We had the following guests: Julie Coleman Carol Coleman Minutes of Previous Meeting: No changes. President s Report: No report. Correspondence: Trudy Kerr reported that we received the following pieces of correspondence: From the AKC: Notice that the results of our June/July 2012 Agility Trial have been processed. From the San Jose Flea Market: An invitation to participate in their dog events (the date for this event has already passed). From ASSA: A reminder that our dues are due. Also, the ASSA has asked if we want to donate a trophy to the 2013 Specialty and/or make a donation to the Foundation (see New Business). Treasurer: Kathy Rosdail said that we re doing well, but we have expenses coming up for the Match and for Del Valle.
Membership: No applications appear to be pending. We need to find a current membership list. October Specialty: We need a volunteer to coordinate the lunch. Yvonne said that we should go back to having a potluck lunch this year. We also need sign-ups for awards and trophies. Website: Michelle Hughes said that the website is going smoothly. Old Business: Match in September: o o o o We are still looking for a Rally/Obedience judge. Trudy has some leads. If those don t work out, we will ask Loretta Dillinger. We need a judge as soon as possible so we can put out a Flyer. Tom True is the Rally/Obedience Chair. The Conformation Flyer is available and can be found on our website. The judges are John McVoy, Sweeps, and Cendy Eads-McVoy, Regular Classes. We will need at least one table. There will be a potluck lunch. We need to coordinate what people bring so we don t have too many salads or desserts. Christmas Party: Yvonne mailed the signed contract to Sinodinos for the Christmas Party (Saturday, December 8 th ). According to the contract, we have the space from 4 pm to 7:30 pm. The proposed schedule is: a) Raffle at 4 pm; b) Dinner at 5 pm; c) followed by awards. The dinner is a buffet and will cost $25 per person, plus tax and tip. Soft drinks are included. There is a $10 corkage fee. We should bring our own desserts it s cheaper. New Business: Certificate from the ASSA: SSCNC received a certificate in recognition of being a 50 year member of ASSA, plus 3 free medallions. This means that we won t have to buy as many medallions this year. 2013 ASSA Specialty Trophy Donation: Kathy said that for the last two years we have donated $50 to Juniors/Conformation/Futurity and $50 to Agility/ Obedience/ Herding/ Rally at the ASSA Specialty. Sharon Sampson suggested covering an entire class for both conformation and performance, since the ASSA is in our neck of the woods in 2013 (it s in Oregon). The amount to cover the awards for an entire class is $110, so our total donation would be $220. Yvonne will check to see if a full class is available for donation. Donation to the ASSA Foundation: We donated $250 last year (and got a bronze pin that we raffled off). The Board will discuss how much to donate this year. Kathy said that we can always donate more later.
Judges Committee: Yvonne said that she needs one more volunteer for the judges committee. Names of Members Listed in Minutes: Michelle said that, according to the SSCNC Bylaws, the names of all members attending a meeting should be included in the minutes. We haven t done this in a while. Michelle said that including the names of members in the minutes would be very helpful and suggested restarting this practice. The assembled membership agreed (the names will be included, starting with these minutes). Sheltie Rescue: Sharon thanked the Club for making the donation to Sheltie Rescue when they really needed it (the 4 males rescued in Nevada County). Next Meeting: Sunday, September 23 rd at the SSCNC Match at Niles Community Park in Fremont. Good of the Order: No report. Adjourned: 12:55 pm Submitted by: Rebecca Logsdon, SSCNC Secretary Shetland Sheepdog Club of Northern California Club Website I thought that some members might like to know more about how our club website is doing. I have rounded up or down most numbers for ease of reporting. By the time this report is read, the numbers will change slightly in some cases. The club website is averaging around 45 hits per day. We average about 1300 hits per month of which 950 are new visitors. Since the beginning of this year, there has been over 10,000 hits so far. One of the most interesting stats was the number of countries that were represented. Our site has been visited by people from a total of 71 different countries. The United States represented about 7500 hits with about 250 hits from Canada and 150ish from the UK. As for favorite website pages, the Breeder Referral page had about 4250 hits which was the most visited page after our Home Page. Rescue had about 3200 visits and a really large amount of visitors (over 2000) checked out educational topics like colors with "white markings on Shelties" the most visited. Our "Links" page had about 750 visitors. Only 2 visits went to the grooming page! I guess everyone knows how to brush a dog. Submitted by Michelle Hughes, website administrator

Members in Need Our Paige (Westar's Primadonna) has been in the hospital for 5 days fighting for her life after a horrible Pyometra. Her body was septic and one uterine horn was completely black and necrotic. She fell gravely ill very quickly. She had an emergency spay and is still unable to stand or hold her head up. There is a concern that there way be some neurological damage, but we are hoping there isn't. She is drinking from a bowl now and is more alert when someone speaks to her. The vet thinks she has made some progress. She is coming home tomorrow and is going to have a long road to what we hope will be a full recovery. Please keep her in your thoughts/prayers. Shayne
