OCTOBER 2016 City of Weston Newsletter Mayor s Corner October 2016 The Mayor s Corner October 2016 City Council Duane Thul, Mayor Liaison: Public Works and Library Tim Crampton, Councilor Liaison: Landmarks, Parks & Rec Suellen Harral, Councilor Jennifer Spurgeon, Councilor Liaison: City Hall, Council President Rick Stephens, Councilor Liaison: Police Department City Phone Numbers City Hall: 541 566-3313 Hours 7:30am-4:00pm Closed 12:00pm-12:30pm Lunch Dog complaints are normally the #1 complaint in most cities, and Weston is no exception. Most dog owners are very responsible. However, there seems to be a growing minority who either don t care or who have the attitude that since we live in a small town, it doesn t matter. Most dogs will bark when they are disturbed. I believe most people understand that. It s the prolonged barking that is bothersome. Even five minutes is a long time to listen to a barking dog. That applies to both day and night. If you are a dog owner, you are responsible for your animal s behavior, regardless if you are home or not. The city s municipal judge has held two trials this summer in the matter of barking dogs. Please make an effort to control your dogs. I understand there are devices, including bark collars, to control this problem. Another problem with dog ownership is the issue of those who don t keep their animals confined to their own yard or kennel. This can have serious monetary consequences. If your animal injures or kills another animal, or worse yet a human, you can be held responsible. In a separate matter, Election Day is November 8 th for national, state, and local issues. Please become informed and vote.
