Mixed Breeds & Unrecognized Breeds These dogs are now eligible to compete in CKC Obedience and Rally Trials. In order to enter, the dog MUST have a CKC Canine Companion Number (CCN). Application forms and complete information are available on the CKC website: http://www.ckc.ca Note: There are new classes in both Obedience and Rally. For information about these classes and eligibility to enter them, please refer to the new, 2018 CKC Obedience and Rally Rules and Regulations. This rulebook will be available from the CKC office. Obedience Classifications NO DOG MAY BE ENTERED IN BOTH NOVICE A & B AT SAME TRIAL NO DOG MAY BE ENTERED IN BOTH OPEN A & B AT SAME TRIAL Pre-Novice This class shall be for all purebred dogs and those breeds as designated on the list of miscellaneous breeds and of either sex, which have not earned the title of P.C.D. (Pre-Companion Dog) in Canada. A dog may be entered in the Pre-Novice that has not earned the title of C.D. in Canada or a comparable title in any other country. Novice A - This class is open to all dogs, providing the dog has not earned the title of CD in ANY COUNTRY. One dog ONLY may be entered in this class by any one exhibitor. No licensed handler, trainer or any person who has previously exhibited a dog through its UD title in Canada or Elsewhere shall be allowed to compete in this class. Novice B - This class is open to all dogs, which have not earned the title of CD, and may be shown by the owner or any other person. The dog may not necessarily be CKC or ERN Reg d to compete in this class Novice Intermediate This class is an elective class and earning the title is not a requirement to enter the Open Class. This class shall be for any dog of any recognized breed or listed breed, mixed breed or unrecognized breed that has earned a CD or higher title. Scores earned by dogs competing in this class are not eligible for High In Trial. Dogs are eligible to compete in this class indefinitely. Dogs in this class may be handled or exhibited by the owner or any other person. Open There are four (4) Open classes: The Open HA and Open HB classes, which include the Out of Sight Group Stay Exercises and the Open 18A and Open 18B classes, which include the Change of Positions and Group Sit - Walk Around exercises. Open HA & 18A- This class is open to all dogs which have earned the title of CD IN CANADA, but have not earned the title of CDX in any country. One dog ONLY may be entered in this class by any one exhibitor. The exhibitor MUST BE THE OWNER or A MEMBER OF HIS/HER IMMEDIATE FAMILY and MUST SHOW THE DOG IN ALL EXERCISES. No licensed handler, trainer or any person who has previously exhibited a dog through its UD title in Canada or Elsewhere shall be allowed to compete. CKC or ERN Reg d number must be provided on the entry form at time of closing of entries to be eligible to compete in this class Open HB & 18B - This class is open to all dogs, which have earned the title of CD in CANADA, and may be shown by the owner or any other person. This dog MAY ALSO COMPETE IN THE UTILITY CLASS. A CKC or ERN Reg d number must be provided on the entry form at time of closing of entries to be eligible to compete in this class Utility A - This class is open to any dog of any recognized or listed breed which has earned the title of CDX but has not earned the title of U.D. Any person who has trained or exhibited a dog that has earned a M.O.T.Ch title may not handle dogs in this class. This dog must be shown by the owner or a member of their immediate families. A CKC or ERN Reg d number must be provided on the entry form at time of closing of entries to be eligible to compete in this class. Owners may enter More than one dog in this class. The same person must handle the dog in all exercises. When a dog is wrongfully entered in this class, any score will be cancelled. Utility B - This class is open to any dog of any recognized or listed breed which has earned the title of CDX or U.D. Dogs in this class may be handled by the owner or any other person. A CKC or ERN Reg d number must be provided on the entry form at time of closing of entries to be eligible to compete in this class. Owners may enter more than one dog in this class. The same person must handle the dog in all exercises. No dog may be entered in both the Utility A and Utility B classes at any one trial. Prior to the start of judging, the judge will decide the order of exercises to be performed. Rally Ring Size 40 x 60 Rally Classifications Novice A - Dogs competing in the class may not have won a CKC Rally Novice (RN) title or any CKC Novice Obedience Title. The handler of any dog in this class must be the owner, co-owner or member of their immediate families,. A dog may not be exhibited in this class after official notification from the CKC that the dog has won the title. No dog may be entered in Rally Novice A &B in any one trial. A persona may enter more than one dog in this class. Novice B - Any dog may compete in this class until a qualifying score in Rally Advanced class is earned. The owner or any other person may handle a dog in this class. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. Intermediate - Elective class for dogs that have earned a RN title. May continue to compete in this class indefinitely. Advanced A - This class shall be for dogs that have won the Rally Novice (RN title but have not won the Rally RA title or any CKC novice obedience title. Than handler of any dog in this class must be the owner, co-owner, or member of their immediate families. No dog may be entered in Rally Advanced A & B in any one trial. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. Advanced B - This class will be for dogs that have won the Rally RN Title. A dog may continue to compete in this class indefinitely. The owner or any other person may handle that dog in this class. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. Excellent A - This class shall be for dogs that have won the Rally advanced RA title but have not won the Rally RE title or any CKC Novice Obedience title. The handler of any dog in this class must be the owner, co-owner, or member of their immediate families, No dog may be entered in Rally Excellent A&B in any one trial. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. Excellent B - This class will be for dogs that have won the Rally RA title. A dog may continue to compete in this class indefinitely. The owner or any other person may handle a dog in this class. A person may enter more than one dog in this class. Master Class - This class will be for dogs that have earned the RE title. A dog completing the RM title may continue to com-pete in this class indefinitely. The owner or any other person may handle dogs in this class. GENERAL RULES 1. Entries must be received by the Show Secretary prior to closing date. Withdrawal of entries prior to closing date may be made by telephone, but must be followed up in writing to reach the Show Secretary by closing day (mail, email, fax). 2. No entry form will be accepted unless all particulars called for on the entry form are complete. Incomplete or unreadable entries will be returned. No entry will be accepted unless accompanied by the entry fees. Telephone entries will not be accepted by the show secretary. 3. Exhibitors must abide by errors made in entering their dogs regardless of how, or by whom the entry was made. Changes after the closing date are prohibited. 4. KDDC reserves the right to refuse any entry subject to CKC Rules. 5. The Show Superintendent will have full charge of the show. CKC Dog Show rules will be followed. 6. All dogs must be exercised in the exercise areas provided. Please clean up after your dog. Exhibitors must also clean up outside the buildings. 7. No dog will be allowed in the show building unless entered in the show. Demonstration dogs are exempt. 8. No refund of entry fees will be made if it is impossible to open or complete the shows because of riot, civil disturbance, or other acts beyond the control of the KDDC. 9. KDDC will use due care and diligence for the welfare of dogs and exhibitors but will not be responsible for or assume any liability in the event of accident or other mishap caused to either dogs, exhibitors or spectators whether the results of accident or otherwise. A dog should never be touched without the permission of the owner or handler. 10. There is no night watchman. Exhibitors leaving dogs in the building do so at their own risk and must leave contact information prominently displayed on or near their crate(s). 11. Dogs should be in the show building 1 hour prior to judging. It is the responsibility of the owner or handler to have the dog at ringside. Handlers are requested to report any absentees and have assistants at ringside if they are engaged elsewhere. 12. CHAMPIONS AND CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS SECTION 1 A dog awarded Winners at a championship show held under the Dog Show Rules shall be credited with a number of championship points (ranging from 0 to 5) and the determination of the number of championship points to be accredited to a dog awarded Winners shall be provided hereunder. SECTION 2 The schedule to be employed in the determination of the number of points to be allocated to a dog awarded Winners shall be as follows. (15.1.2) The new system provides for additional points if a dog awarded Winners also places in the GROUP as listed below. In no case may a dog earn more than five (5) points at a single show. In order for a dog to be recognized as a Champion and its owner provided with a Championship Certificate, the dog must: (a) earn at least 10 championship points under at least 3 different judges; and, (b) be individually registered in the records of the CKC or have an Event Registration Number. (c) have earned at least one 2 point win either at the breed or group level. (15.1.13). Best Puppy in Breed Where a dog awarded Best of Breed is not a puppy, those puppies which have not been defeated either directly or indirectly by another puppy in the breed will compete for this award. Judging follows the award for Best of Breed. A puppy awarded Best Puppy in Breed is NOT required to stay to compete for Best Puppy in Group (15.3.1f) MOVING CLASS DOGS TO SPECIALS A dog which is individually registered in the records of the CKC or has an ERN number at the time of closing of entries, and has completed the requirements for a championship in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 20 of the Dog Show Rules, after the closing date and time for entries for a show, but whose championship is yet unconfirmed by the CKC may be transferred from one of the regular classes to Specials Only providing the transfer is submitted to the show secretary in writing at least one (1) hour prior to the opening of the show, by the owner or handler. Effective January, 1994: If your dog has the required number of Championship points and you do not have your registration number before entries close, and you receive your registration BEFORE the date of the show, you may move your dog up to Specials if you provide the Show Secretary with the registration number and the dog has been entered in the classes as a LISTED dog. Listing fees, however, WILL NOT be refunded. An error in the class, date of birth or sex may be amended on the entry form up to one hour before the start of the show. Rule (8.2.5). NON CKC MEMBER PARTICIPATION FEE Canadian Residents Only Effective Jan. 1, 2011, the C.K.C. instituted a Non-Member Participation fee for all Canadian Residents who participate in a CKC event, but are not CKC members. To protect Awards/Titles earned, the non-member will have a choice either to become a CKC member or pay the non-member participation fee. Failure to comply within 30 days of notification will cause all awards and titles to be cancelled. This applies to dogs wholly owned by non-members, resident in Canada and does not apply to U.S. exhibitors, nor to CKC members or dogs co-owned with a CKC member
