A tremendous run of barreners from Rob & Sharon Luscombe of South Brent saw Simmental s making 165ppk (x3) and realising to 1286 whilst a pair of well-fed Blue cows from Peter Hooper, Bovey Tracey peaked at 157ppk and 1082. The sale kicked off averaging around 244-248ppk for the first 3-400 lambs sold, but as phones rang and buyers were informed of numbers and trade elsewhere in the country bidding became more laboured and buyers were increasingly selective. That said, best heavy lambs sold to a premium throughout the sale with Harry Stamp of Highbridge selling a 59kg Hampshire at 125, more overweights at 53-56kg sold to 119 for CA & S Kekwick of Cheriton Fitzpaine, 115 for both Jack Frankum of Exeter and Kevin & Becky Matthews of Launceston and 114.50 for the Derryman family of Yarcombe. A smart pen of 50kg lambs from MA May & Son of Copplestone climbed to 25-32 33-39 40-45 46-52 53+ 22 408 1737 273 20 123.50 and more of the same weight sold at 118 for Graham Sercombe of Cheriton Bishop.
