The Siamese Cat Club are pleased to welcome entries to our 82nd Championship Show. The Committee hopes you will support your Club and enjoy the Day. The venue has easy access for disabled visitors and free parking available for all. Catering is provided by the venue in the restaurant and the viewing gallery allows exhibitors to watch their cats being assessed. Directions to the venue are on the rear of this schedule and the post code for Sat Nav users is shown on the front cover of the schedule. This year we have an Exhibition Gallery which is open to all Siamese Cats who have contributed on some way to the breed and also Pointed Bi-Colours, and other Cats derived from Siamese who you would like to exhibit at our show. Cats derived from Siamese are also welcome, as are past winners of the Siamese Cat Club Household Pet Section. We hope this will be a very special exhibition of wonderful cats for exhibitors and visitors to admire. We would like to see cats with interesting pedigrees (they do not have to be titled cats) for example successful breeding Queens, Neuters, and retired Studs. All Cats exhibited in this Section will receive a Special Rosette and a Present from the Show Manager. A Special will also be presented to the Best Decorated Pen. All Entries will be eligible for the Lucky Pen Prizes awarded on the day. CLASS STRUCTURE The same class structure applies to Pedigree and Household Pet entries You may enter your cat in only ONE of Breed / Colour, Grand or Imperial Classes, and the class entered must be the one competing for the certificate towards the lowest title it does not hold. Thus Untitled Cats may be entered in the appropriate Breed / Colour Class. Champions / Premiers / Mastercats may be entered only in the appropriate Grand Class Grand Titled Cats may be entered only in the appropriate Imperial Class Imperial or Olympian titled cats may only be entered in the appropriate Olympian class If you do not wish to enter any of the above classes, you do not need to do. Cats may be entered for the Best of Breed only: All cats not entered in the appropriate breed class will automatically be considered for Best of Breed (judged by the judge of the Breed Class) unless you explicitly withdraw them from such consideration). IF a cat which you have entered wins a higher title after you make your entry but BEFORE the published closing date of the show, then you MUST inform the Show Manger, so that it may be moved up a class. 3

Neutered Kittens will be entered in the Kitten classes but please denote the sex as MN or FN as appropriate. Finally before posting your entry please double check that you have signed the form and enclosed the correct entry fee. Cats with an invalid vaccination certificate will be rejected under Section A unless the exhibitor undertakes to provide proof of vaccination, valid for that show, by sending the certificate to the GCCF Office within seven days of the show. Failure to do so will lead to disqualification from the show and the cat s name will be placed on the veterinary rejection list until proof of vaccination is received in the Office. 5

VETERINARY REJECTION / CLEARANCE Unfit exhibits must be removed from the hall and entry fees forfeited. If, in the Duty Vet s opinion it is desirable all other exhibits from the same household, and the owners thereof, shall be barred from attending the show. The Duty Vet s decision is final. Where an exhibit has been rejected or disqualified by the Duty Vet the Show Manager will obtain the reasons and notify the GCCF accordingly within 48 hours of the show ensuring that a copy of the rejection form is forwarded to the exhibitor concerned. The procedure for veterinary clearance is clearly stated in GCCF Rules however exhibitors whose cats have been rejected should note the following points: i) When sending a Clearance Certificate to the GCCF Veterinary Officer please include your copy of the rejection slip. ii) Do not send certificates by recorded delivery as this can cause delays in receipt. If acknowledgment of receipt is required please enclose a stamped addressed postcard for signature acknowledging receipt. iii) Exhibitors should not attend shows until they have received a letter accepting and confirming clearance from the Veterinary Officer. BENCHING & PRESENTATION OF EXHIBITS Make sure your exhibit is comfortable, warm and relaxed. Exhibitors must provide each exhibit with clean white blankets, without distinctive marking or edging, to lie on. (Vet-bed or similar material with green or white backing may be used if preferred) Cellular blankets or sewn blankets and nests are not allowed. Each exhibit must have a white food bowl, white water bowl with fresh water and a white litter tray with the exhibit s normal litter. Food containers must be removed before judging commences and can be returned to the pen at 12.00. Water must be left in the pen for the duration of the show. Hot water bottles / heat reflecting material / cool packs are the only heating / cooling devices allowed provided they are in white covers. There must be no distinguishing marks on any of the equipment. Please check your cat s claws before the show and trim them if they are overlong. The use of grooming aids in the show hall other than the use of a clean brush, comb or cloth is prohibited. No grooming substances or powder may be left in the exhibits coats. Exhibitors are advised not to use any shampoo, or other preparation containing colouring matter on their exhibit as this could change the exhibit s appearance and lead to disqualification. The use of any product, such as those containing SKULLCAP or VALERIAN, which change a cat s normal appearance or behaviour is forbidden at GCCF shows and will lead to disqualification under Section 4 Rule 14. No printed or written matter of any kind, other than official notices and award cards may be displayed on competitive pens except with the permission of the show manager. For Sale signs are not permitted. EXHIBITORS Any exhibitor interfering with, or removing, any Exhibit from its pen during the show, except with the consent of the Show Manager, will forfeit any award that may be due to his, or her, exhibit. No-one may remove any exhibit from its pen except the owner or Club official. Exhibitors are forbidden to carry their exhibits around the hall and they must not be held in a way as to disturb other exhibits. Exhibitors are reminded that they, or their representatives, must be within call throughout the period of the show with the exception of the time the hall is cleared for judging. JUDGING & JUDGES Judging will commence at 10.00 and exhibitors will not be allowed access to the hall until 12.00 without permission of the Show Manager. Judges are empowered to withhold any prize, award or certificate in any class if the exhibits do not, in their opinion, possess sufficient merit. Prizes will be awarded from the Judge s award slip and not from any catalogue or prize card. 6

The Judge s decision is final. Exhibitors are reminded that they may not approach a Judge, nor enter into conversation with the Judges, until their engagement in completed. (GCCF Rules Section 4 Rule 26) In the event of a change of Judge of an Breed Class occurring after the closing date of the show, and provided the exhibitor informs the Show Manager prior to judging that a certificate has been previously awarded by the replacement judge, the Show Manager shall appoint one other judge who shall judge the cat and, if the cat is considered worthy, countersign the certificate which will then count towards Championship status. If the replacement judge at the first show has also been previously booked for a subsequent show after that show s closing date then at that show the judge can be considered a replacement judge for the purpose of requesting a countersignature. Stewards: No persons may steward at all for any judge under whom they or a member of their household are exhibiting in a Breed, Grand, Olympian or Assessment class. This rule also applies to any person who is acting as an agent for the owner of a cat entered in a relevant class. This also includes cats not entered into the Breed class but to be considered for Best of Breed. Stewards MUST be over 16 years of age. GENERAL GUIDELINES ON ENTERING SHOWS Where possible, always complete your show entry from your GCCF registration document (ie. Registration or Transfer Certificate) for the cat that is to be exhibited, printing the details carefully to avoid any misinterpretation of your handwriting. If you have not received your registration document at time of entry complete the entry form with the details from the pedigree and put RAF (Registration Applied For) or TAF (Transfer Applied For), or both, in the Reg d No. box. It is wise to enclose a stamped addressed acknowledgment postcard with all applications to the GCCF but particularly for cats entered at shows so you can be certain they have been received by the GCCF. Exhibitors are advised to keep a copy of the entry form, when registration or transfer details are received check against the entry form and notify the Show Manager in writing of any differences and give the registration number if applicable. This may not be in time for printing of the catalogue but the Show Manager will attach your letter to the entry form this will save unnecessary notification of discrepancies when that show is checked. All catalogue errors are checked against the original entry form and any exhibitors letters are used for reference. The Show Management are permitted to accept corrections, at their own discretion, up to the close of the show (on Show Day); such a change must not be a change of exhibit. If you are entering several cats from your household and the registered owners (exhibitors) differ within that household / family, please enter the cats belonging to each owner on separate entry forms. For cats in joint ownership both owners must sign the entry form. THE COMMITTEE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO: 1. Appoint other judges should those advertised be unable to fulfil their engagement, and to appoint further judges should they be required. 2. Fix and limit the number of exhibits at the show, and to accept or refuse entry without giving reasons. 3. Cancel, amalgamate or divide classes. 4. Publish a catalogue of the show containing information as to the exhibits, together with the names and addresses of exhibitors, and process this information by computer. 5. Retain a percentage of the entry fees, to cover essential expenses, in the event of the show being cancelled for any reason. 7

JUNIOR: Cats over 9 calendar months of age and under 2 years on the day of the show. SENIOR: Cats 2 years and over on the day of the show. MASTER CAT TITLES NOTE: Titles shall be attained by the awarding of appropriate certificates by different judges at Sanction or Championship shows licensed by the GCCF. Please make your claim to Mrs Lesley Szwed, 35 Potton Close, Barn End, Coventry, CV3 3EA. Please include the cat s name, colour, sex and age, together with the names and dates of the qualifying shows, the awarding judges 8

names and photocopies of the relevant certificates. All claims are acknowledged and, periodically, a list of Master Cats etc will be published in the Official Journal, shortly after which medals will be sent to the owners. Please note that in addition to the classes you have entered, your cat may also be handled for the purpose of assessing candidates in the GCCF Judge Appointment Scheme. STATUS OF ERRORS WHAT TO EXPECT Minor Errors These warrant a notification for your reference if the error occurs more than once and it is apparent that the registration details were available at the time of entry or before the date of the show. Continuous repetition of the same error after notification will be referred to the Executive Committee. Examples of minor errors include: a) Spelling errors b) Separation of cats names that should be one word and vice versa c) Administrative / breeder s prefix being omitted from, or partially incorrect name given for an exhibit d) Overseas title preceding the name of an exhibit, sire or dam, etc e) Full breed number known but not given f) Sire and Dam reversed or named incorrectly g) Breeder joint when single and vice versa Incorrect Date of Birth This is usually classed as a minor error unless it affects an entry into classes based on age groups, when it could warrant disqualification of an exhibit from such classes; but if the incorrect date of birth affects the age suitability as a whole, then the exhibit will be disqualified from the show. N.B. AGE LIMITS Kittens not less than 14 weeks and under 9 calendar months on date of show. Adults not less than 9 calendar months on date of show. Incorrect name of Exhibit / Owner / Breeder If registration was obviously available at the time of entry or before the date of the show, disqualification is inevitable. The following discrepancies are those which usually arise: EXHIBIT Totally incorrect name REGISTERED OWNER / EXHIBITOR Joint when they should be single and vice versa. Declaration not signed by registered owner(s). NB. the exhibitor(s) must be the registered owner(s) of the cat and not necessarily the person who takes the cat to the show BREEDER:Totally incorrect name or names. NB. The breeder of the cat is always the registered owner of the dam on the date of the cat s birth. Registration / Transfer not received by the GCCF 21 days before the date of the show These entries will be disqualified. Remember the effective date of all registrations and transfers is the first date of valid receipt by the GCCF, and if you enclose your own stamped addressed acknowledgment card with your application form this will be stamped with the GCCF Office date of receipt. Transfer of exhibit from exhibitor to a new owner received by the GCCF more than 21 days before the date of the show Entries such as these will also be disqualified as the exhibitor s entry form becomes invalid. Incorrect or ineligibility of class entry. These will also be disqualified from the class concerned so always check with the Show Manager if in doubt about which class to enter. If a breed number is changed officially it is important that you notify the Show Manager immediately. Exhibits entered in the Title Classes must have gained their title on, or before, the published closing date of the show. Cats registered on the Reference Register No cat registered on the Register is eligible to be shown and therefore these entries will be disqualified. The only exception to this is when a new breed becomes recognised; and then, cats 9

of the breed may be shown even if they are registered on the Reference Register as long as this was the only reason for the Reference registration. Exhibitors may appeal against any disqualification resulting from show checking, giving their reasons. The appeal will be referred to the Executive Committee if considered valid and, if not, a letter of explanation will be sent to the exhibitor(s). The above advice, however, is aimed to keep your show entries trouble free, not to mention the show checking. CORRESPONDENCE All correspondence must be accompanied by a stamped addressed envelope if a reply is required. Any complaint relating to the Show must be forwarded to the Show Manager within 7 days of the Show. To prevent disappointment it is recommended that exhibitors enclose a stamped addressed postcard with their entries to be returned as an acknowledgment of receipt of their entry. NOTICE OF CHANGE An announcement will be made via the GCCF website of any alterations or additions made to this schedule or in the regulations shall be deemed sufficient notice. SHOW WITHDRAWALS The last date for withdrawal of a cat from a show is the advertised closing date for entries at that show. After this date the cat(s) concerned may not be withdrawn from the catalogue of the show and the 13 day rule about entering two shows within 13 days will apply. Show Managers may be prepared to return part entry fees if the cat is not present at the show but the entry in the catalogue must not be withdrawn. Won its Breed, Champion/Premier, Grand or Olympian Class, if an adult or neuter, and have been awarded the Certificate, or have won Best of Breed if not entered in its Breed Class. 2. Won its Breed Class if a kitten or kitten neuter. Best of Breed must have been awarded for the class, although the kitten nominated may be of a different sex to the BOB winner. NOTE FOR HOUSEHOLD PET EXHIBITORS AND SHOW MANAGERS: 1. A Ginger or Red SELF HP, whether with or without White should enter the SELF (SINGLE COLOUR) CAT WITH OR WITHOUT WHITE class for competition or consideration for Best of Breed/Best of Colour. 2. The description of the Ginger/Red Tabby classes was changed in September 2009 to make it clear for show managers and exhibitors - it now reads: Ginger Cat of any tabby pattern or Any Colour Tortoiseshell or Tortie Tabby Cat, with or without white.. or in the Pedigree Pet Section it is described as: Red Cat of any tabby pattern or Any Colour Tortoiseshell or Tortie Tabby Cat, with or without white. It would be very helpful if Show Managers could please update their schedules to reflect this wording. 3. Blue-cream cats should be entered in the Any Colour Tortoiseshell class. 11
