ALL ABOUT PARKING 2019 (provided by GKC) Day parking is provided and facilitated by the Morgan Hill Outdoor Sports Complex. Gavilan Kennel Club has no authority over issues regarding day parking. Handicapped parking is available. Gavilan Kennel Club and SSCNC assume no responsibility or liability for damage or loss to any vehicle, its contents, or dogs. Fire lanes must be kept open at all times. Vehicles subject to towing at owner s expense with no prior notice. Gates will open each day at 6 AM and close at 9 PM. No entrance before or after these hours. Day Parking Fees will be collected at all gates. DAY OF SHOW PARKING opens at 6 AM ALL EXHIBITORS AND SPECTATORS MUST PAY PARKING FEES $10 EACH DAY OVERNIGHT PARKING 1. Unreserved overnight is $65 per night (CASH only) (Saturday morning arrival $100) 2. No electrical hookups available 3. All vehicles must be self-contained. No discharge of gray water or sanitary tanks on the ground or in open containers 4. There are no dump stations on grounds 5. Those wishing to park together must send in same envelope prior to closing date 6. All RVs must have working fire extinguisher 7. No open fires allowed 8. All vehicles in Overnight Parking Area must be registered with Gavilan KC 9. Gavilan KC passes issued for vans and tag-along vehicles for parking within RV area. Neutered Dogs and Spayed Bitches are allowed to compete in Veteran Classes at Independent Specialty Shows. (AKC Dog Show Rules, Chapter 14, Section 8.) Best of Breed Competition The following categories of dogs may be entered and shown in Best of Breed Competition: Dogs that are Champions of Record; and Dogs that are Champions of Record which according to their owner s records have completed the requirements for a championship but whose championships are unconfirmed. The entry and showing of dogs whose championships are unconfirmed is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where a dog completed the requirements for a championship according to the owner s records. If, at the end of the 90 day period, the championship of a dog has not been confirmed by The American Kennel Club, no further entries of the dog for Best of Breed competition are to be made until its championship has been confirmed by the AKC. Award of Merit: At his/her discretion, the judge may present one Award of Merit rosette for every seven entries in Best of Breed competition excluding Best of Breed, Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed, Select Dog, Select Bitch, Winners Dog & Winners Bitch, that by virtue of their placement, have already been recognized. The exception to this rule is as follows: No Dog which has completed the requirements for a championship prior to the date of judging shall compete in the judging of the sweepstakes. INELIGIBLE DOGS: Should it be that an ineligible dog has received an award in the Sweepstakes, the person to whom such award was presented shall make restitution to the Club and such award shall be deemed to have been won by the dog judged second to the dog declared ineligible. The prize money and other awards shall then be redistributed to conform to the rules. VETERAN SWEEPSTAKES Entry fee is $13.00 as an additional or only class. Veteran Sweepstakes is open to all Shetland Sheepdogs eligible for competition in the regular AKC classes, which on the day of the show will be at least seven years of age. Veteran Sweepstakes entries need not be entered in any regular or non-regular classes. Entrants do not need to be titled to compete and sexually altered veterans may compete. The calendar for this class will be November 1 October 31 of the following year. All Juniors meeting the criteria for this class are required to enter the Master Class and may change their entry without charge, the day of the show if entries have already closed. Once the eligibility time frame for that year has passed, all participants return to the Open Class to compete for the following year. ADDITIONAL RULES Exhibitors must obey (abide by) all regulations of the management of the facility owning the show site. ONLY DOGS THAT ARE ELIGIBLE to be shown under the American Kennel Club Rules shall be allowed within the show limits. ENTRIES: Conditional, unsigned, incomplete entries will not be accepted. Facsimile, credit or debit card are no longer accepted (see page 2 for alternatives). Telegraph or telephone entries cannot be accepted. Entries not on official AKC forms, or photocopies of AKC entry forms without the agreement and rules on the reverse side are NOT acceptable. Owners are responsible for errors on entry forms, and for entering the same dog twice, regardless who may make such errors or duplicate entries. No entry may be changed or canceled, unless notice of the change or cancellation is received in writing by the Superintendent or Show Secretary named in the premium list to receive entries, prior to the closing date and hours for entries, except that a correction may be made in the sex of a dog, or a dog may be transferred from one division of the Puppy Class to another or between the Puppy and Twelve-to-Eighteen Month Class at a show prior to the judging, and except that dogs which according to their owner s records have completed the requirements for a championship after the closing of entries for a show but whose championships are unconfirmed may be transferred from one of the regular classes to the Best of Breed or Variety competition, provided this transfer is made by the Superintendent or Show Secretary at least one half-hour prior to the scheduled start of any regular conformation judging at the show. No dog may otherwise be transferred to another class. (American Kennel Club Rule, Chapter 11, Section 6.) ENTRY FEES will not be refunded in the event of error or cancellation of entries after the published closing date, nor in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by the Veterinarian or Judge, or barred from competition by the Show Committee. If because of riots, civil disturbances, or other acts beyond the control of the management, it is impossible to open or complete the show, no refund of entry fee(s) will be made. ERRORS ON ENTRY BLANKS. Owners are responsible for errors in making out entry forms, whoever may make such errors, and no entry fee will be refunded in event of such errors or cancellation of entries after the published closing date. POST DATED CHECKS or returned checks do not constitute a valid entry fee. The Show Secretary will add a collection fee of $20.00 to the amount of each returned check. Subsequent returned checks from the same exhibitors may result in their being put on a CASH ONLY basis. THERE SHALL BE NO drilling nor intensive or corrective training of dogs on the show grounds or premises. THE CLUB MAY DECLINE entries for any cause and may refuse to receive or may remove any dog on account of disease, viciousness or other cause, and no one shall have any claim or recourse against the Club or any official thereof. THERE WILL BE NO exercise pens, crates, tents or grooming tables allowed in the aisles adjacent to the judging rings. All grooming must be done in areas specified by the Club. DOGS NEED TO BE at the show only at scheduled time of judging and may leave immediately thereafter, unless required for further judging. Judges are not required to wait for dogs. The owner or handler of each dog is solely responsible for having it ready at ringside when it is scheduled to be judged. THE SHOW GIVING CLUB, its officers and directors, the Show Secretary, their agents or employees, assume no responsibility or liability for any loss, damage or injury sustained by exhibitors, or by any of their dogs or property and further assume no responsibility for injury to children. All dogs present must be held on leash or confined to their crates except when being judged or when in the exercising ring. It is to be distinctly understood by all exhibitors that their dogs are to be in their custody and care at all times and that the dog s welfare is their sole responsibility. The showing of unconfirmed Champions in Best of Breed competition is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where the dog completed the requirements for a championship. 3. (Event Class) Consult the classification in this premium list. If the event class in which you are entering your dog is divided, then, in addition to designating the class, specify the particular division of the class in which you are entering your dog, i.e., age division, color division, weight division. 4. A dog must be entered in the name of the person who actually owned it at the time entries for an event closed. If a registered dog has been acquired by a new owner, it must be entered in the name of its new owner in any event for which entries closed after the date of acquirement, regardless of whether the new owner has received the registration certificate indicating that the dog is recorded in his name. Dogs listed in the AKC Canine Partners SM Program may be eligible to enter all-breed AKC Rally trials at the club s option.
