Bernese Mountain Dog Club of America Draft Test Purpose The Bernese Mountain Dog Club of America Draft Tests are a series of exercises designed to develop and demonstrate the natural abilities of purebred Bernese Mountain Dogs in a working capacity involving hauling. The Bernese Mountain Dog has historically functioned as a draft dog in various capacities, and performance of these exercises is intended to demonstrate skills resulting from both inherent ability and training which are applicable to realistic work situations. Efficiency in accomplishment of tasks is essential. It is also desirable that the dog evidence willingness and enjoyment of his work in a combination of controlled teamwork with his handler and natural independence. Entrants are responsible for obtaining the most current BMDCA Draft Test Regulations and being familiar with them. Draft Test Regulations may be downloaded from www.bmdca.org at no charge or ordered from BMDCA Ways and Means (fee applies). For your benefit and a successful experience, please read these Rules and Regulations and be familiar with them prior to the Draft Test. The theme for our Draft Test will be the farmyard and it s animals CLOSE OF ENTRIES Entries close at 6:00 p.m. (PST), Saturday, April 19, 2014 at the Draft Test Secretary s address, after which time entries cannot be accepted, canceled or altered, except as specifically allowed in the current BMDCA Draft Test regulations.

TEST SITE Winning Edge Dog Sports 3349 Riverside Drive, Chino, CA 91710 This is a privately owned facility. There is no shade, so please bring your own shade, shade canopies will be permitted. The area is fairly flat on some grass. This is a herding facility so there will be loose dirt. The freight haul will use as much of the natural terrain as possible to provide a variety of surface types including grass, dirt, wood and pavement. There will be natural distractions consisting of horses, cattle and sheep. There is ample parking for 75+ vehicles, and room for overnight dry campers. DIRECTIONS TO SITE The new facility is quite easy to find. In general it is where the 60 and 71 freeways meet. The address is: 3349 Riverside Dr., Chino, California 91710 Coming west on the 60, exit south at Resevoir. Turn right at Riverside Dr., and look immediately left to find McCrosky Rd. Turn left onto the small dirt road, go to the end and drive into the facility. If you are coming south on the 71 freeway from the 57 or 60 freeway, exit at Riverside/Peyton. Turn left onto Riverside Dr. and go past Towne Ave. You will come to McCrosky Rd. and will turn right onto the small dirt road. Go to the end and drive into the facility. Coming north on the 71 freeway from the 91 freeway, exit Riverside/Peyton and turn right. You will follow the directions above from there. TEST SCHEDULE Check in and equipment check times to be determined after close of entries. Course walk-through to follow equipment check Judging to begin as soon as possible after the walkthrough Break for lunch at Judges convenience Awards will be presented at the conclusion of the test CLASS ENTRY DETAILS There will be a limit of twenty (24) entries for each Draft Test. Entry fees: $35.00 for a single dog team - $40.00 for a brace team A separate entry form must be filled out for each dog of a brace team and then stapled together. Even though two entry forms are required for each brace team, each brace team will be counted as one entry in the Draft Test entry limit. BMD s will have priority over all other dogs. Untitled teams have preference over titled teams, where title means the title of the entered class. In the case of a brace, both dogs must be titled to be considered a titled team. If more than twenty (24) entries are received, they will be prioritized per the following order: 1. Untitled BMD s 2. Titled BMD s 3. Untitled other (Untitled means untitled in the class they have entered. 4) Titled other Teams entered in a class in which they have already earned the advanced level title will be drawn after teams without the advanced livel title in that class. A random draw will be held within 48 hours of closing for each group in the list including and following the one that causes a total entry in excess of the Test limit. Alternates will also be drawn and may compete if a slot becomes available because a team is absent or unable to compete. All entrants will be notified of their entry status. Entrants must notify the Draft Test Secretary if a dog has earned a title in the entered class, including if the title is earned after the entry has been submitted. ATTENTION EXHIBITORS The following classes will be offered: Novice, Open, Brace Novice and Brace Open. Handlers must provide their own rigs, harnesses, and tie downs or other means of securing a load on their particular draft rig. Handlers must bring their own weight. Weight will be verified via scale at the test site. Entered dogs must be 24 months old or older on the day of the Draft Test. Open and Open Brace entries must include a veterinary certificate stating the dog s name and weight. This certificate must be dated within 60 days of the date of the test. Bitches in season are not permitted to compete. The two dogs of a brace team need not be owned by the same person or by the handler. ENTRY AGREEMENT I understand that the club holding this event has the right to refuse this entry. I agree that I am solely responsible for the actions of myself and the dog ( the dog ) that accompanies me in relationship to this entry. In consideration of the acceptance of my entry and the opportunity to participate in this event, I agree to HOLD HARMLESS and INDEMNIFY the following listed parties from any claim for loss, damage or injury alleged to have been caused directly or indirectly by my actions or by the actions of the dog in relationship to this event : the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of America (BMDCA) and the event-giving club, their members, officers, and agents; the owner and/or leaser of the premises; any provider of services at this event; any employees or volunteers of the parties listed here, and any BMDCA Draft Judge judging at this event. I personally assume all responsibility and liability for any such claim. I agree to be responsible for any loss and expense (including legal fees) incurred by any of the listed parties based on claims related in any way to my participation or the actions of the dog in relationship to this event, whether the claims are made by third parties or by myself. Additionally, I agree to assume the sole responsibility for any loss, damage, or injury (including death) to myself or to the dog in relationship to this event. I agree to RELEASE, INDEMNIFY and promise not to sue the parties listed above for any such loss, damage or injury to myself or the dog, regardless of the cause, and whether or not the loss, damage or injury may have been caused by the negligence of the listed parties.
