AGILITY: 527-5255 Janet B. 767-6798 Anna J. APPLICATIONS: Can be found on our web site www.ocodb.org Disclaimer: the views and opinions expressed herein do not necessarily represent the views and opinions of the Obedience Club of President s Message, Dear members: NEXT MEETING 7:00 PM Monday, April 10, 2017 Ralph Orlando will update us on the Military War Dogs Each month our schedule includes more and more activities. Our training center will start the month with the Orlando Obedience Club s Obedience and Rally Trial. We are one of the few (the only?) places in Florida and beyond where a dog club can lease space that is trial ready. Regulation size rings, premier matting, equipment, and ample parking make us an outstanding location. Thank you to the clubs and other groups who rent our space. On April 26 th, our own Canine Fancy Dancers will hold their annual show. I have seen the cast practicing in our training center and I can promise you - the 2017 show will be one to remember. Of course, OCOD is much more than people training their own dogs. We are also dedicated to public outreach to benefit of dogs and their owners. At our April membership meeting, Ralph Orlando will speak about our fundraising efforts for Military Working Dogs. Since beginning this mission, Ralph and OCOD have raised thousands of dollars to purchase much needed equipment for these highly trained canines who serve their country. This is a talk you won t want to miss. Finally, on Saturday April 29 th, OCOD will have team in the Annual Halifax Humane Society s Mutt Strutt on the beach. This is a great opportunity to support one of our local shelters and promote good canine behavior at the same time. See more details elsewhere in this newsletter. Hope you can be there. We are a busy club that offers activities to anyone who likes dogs. If you are sitting at home by yourself and bored, it s your own fault. Get involved. Pat Mozden

Page 8 April 2017 Chatter-Barks (Minutes Continued) New flooring: The manufacturer was in to look at our flooring and reported that we really do need a cleaning machine to keep up the proper maintenance of the flooring. There was discussion about the purchase price of a few options. Burns Supply has a used machine that should be a reasonable price. Since the original vote last year included the purchase of a new machine, it was decided to have the building committee review the options and make the purchase. Carole motioned we adjourn, Linda seconded at 7:41PM. Respectfully Submitted, Chris Franczek OCOD Team for Halifax Humane Society Mutt Strutt And now I get to put on my Public Education hat. We haven t participated in as many events recently. That is partly due to my duties as President and partly due to event schedules. I now favor events that are shorter, reach a good number of people, and are held early in the day. The HHS Mutt Strutt fits those criteria. The Mutt Strutt will be held on Saturday, April 29 th. The event activities begin at 8 AM with the walk beginning at 9. Donations and collecting pledges are welcome, of course, but you do not have to pay anything to walk with our group. If you are able to attend, please register following the directions below, wear your club t-shirt, and join us on the beach just before 9. Go to HHSMuttStrutt.org. In the upper left click on, register here, agree to the waiver and then click on join a team. Select OCOD, do the ID and password thing and that takes you to the registration page. This helps us fulfill our mission of promoting dog training to the public. Our team is open to anyone. Please invite your friends, neighbors, and family to register and join us with or without a dog. I hope to see you there. Pat Mozden
