1. The meetng was attended by Ms D. Hzette (EURYDICE), Mr. W. F. de Regt (Charman of the EUDISED multlngual thesaurus management group), Mr. J. Vet (Councl of Europe consultant for matters relatng to the EUDISED multlngual thesaurus) and Mr. W. F. Barrett (Councl of Europe). 2. The agenda of the meetng was as follows: - procedure for submttng proposals for modfcatons to the EUDISED multlngual thesaurus; - publcaton of the revsed edton of the EUDISED multlngual thesaurus; - preparaton of the October 1981 meetng of the EUDISED multlngual thesaurus management group. 3. The followng procedure was agreed for dealng wth proposals for modfcatons to the EUDISED multlngual thesaurus. - Proposals for modfcatons can be made through EUDISED R & D natonal agences and/or members of the EUDISED multlngual thesaurus management group. Proposals would have to be made on the approprate form provded by the Councl of Europe and addressed to: The Councl of Europe Drectorate of Educaton, Culture and Sport Documentaton Secton EUDISED multlngual thesaurus F-67006 Strasbourg Cedex. - The Councl of Europe, Documentaton Secton would transmt the proposals to Mr. J. Vet and send a copy to EURYDICE.. In the event of a proposal beng consdered unacceptable by J. Vet, the proposal form would be sent back to the Councl of Europe for return to the person who had submtted t, EURYDICE beng nformed of the step taken. - Proposals deemed worthy of further consderaton would be sent by J. Vet to members of the EUDISED multlngual thesaurus management group for comment and/or attrbuton of lngustc equvalents. The members of the group to be consulted would be the two representatves per language area for whch there exsts a revsed edton of the EUDISED multlngual thesaurus, the two Scandnavan representatves, EURYDICE, the Councl of Europe. - The members would have one month n whch to respond - Should J. Vet need, n the lght of comments/lngustc equvalents receved, to consult further, he could contact the Charman of the EUDISED thesaurus management group. - Proposed modfcatons would then be sent to Datacentralen for entry nto the computer. The approprate prntout would be checked by J. Vet.

- Once he had assured hmself that a proposed modfcaton was fully acceptable, J. Vet would request Datacentralen to send a prntout of the descrptor n queston along wth ts varous relatons to the Councl of Europe and EURYDICE. _ The Councl of Europe and EURYDICE would make known the acceptance of a modfcaton to the EUDISED multlngual thesaurus. A graphc presentaton of the procedure déscrbed above s gven n Appendx I. It was agreed that ths procedure should be used untl the October 1981 meetng of the EUDISED multlngual thesaurus management group. 4. J. Vet nformed the partcpants that the computer processng of the alphanetcal lsts of Englsh, French, German, Spansh and Dutch descrptors was almost complete. It was agreed that each language verson of the EUDISED multlngual thesaurus should comprse n ts publshed fort: - an ntroducton to be wrtten by J. Vet; - an alphabetcal array of descrptors wth lngustc equvalents n the other four languages, facet number, BT, RT, NT and, where approprate, scope note ; - a faceted array (descrptors only); - a rotated ndex. 5. Preference was expressed for a non-commercal publcaton of the revsed edton of the EUDISED multlngual thesaurus. It was suggested that the cost Of prntng the revsed edton by the Councl of Europe should be compared wth the cost of prntng by the EEC, and that the Organsaton able to offer thé best terms should be charged wth the prntng, the other Orgahsaton makng a contrbuton to the cost of the exercse. The revsed edton would be avalable free of charge on. request, and natonal authortes would, f they so wshed, be authorzed to prnt addtonal copés for dstrbuton free of charge. The number of copes of the frst edton of the EUDISED multlngual thesaurus sold by 31 December 1980 was J - French verson 795 - Englsh verson 589 - German verson 360 - Spansh verson 249. 6. It was decded that the followng ponts should appear on the agenda of the October 1981 meetng of the EUDISED multlngual thesaurus management group: - preparaton and publcaton of the revsed edton of the EUDISED multlngual thesaurus; - graphc presentaton of the EUDISED multlngual thesaurus; - procedure for modfyng the thesaurus; - subthesaur:. language and language teachng;. specal educaton;

- natonal terns n relaton to the EUDISED multlngual thesaurus; - natonal and nternatonal developments relevant to the EUDISED multlngual thesaurus snce the October 1980 meetng of the management group - report on EUDISED R & D and EP actvtes; - report on progress towards makng the EUDISED R & D data base avalable on-lne ; development of an educatonal termnology data base; October*"^^!^ t*16 ^^* **D multlngual thesaurus management group after - electon of a charman to succeed Mr. W.
