Dogs which according to their owners records have completed the requirements for a championship but whose championships are unconfirmed. The entry and showing of dogs whose champion-ships are unconfirmed is limited to a period of 90 days from the date of the show where a dog completed the requirements for a championship according to the owner s records. If, at the end of the 90 day period, the championship of a dog has not been confirmed by AKC, no further entries of the dog for Best of Breed com-petition are to be made until its championship has been confirmed by AKC. The judge may at his/her discretion present an Award of Merit for dogs competing for Best of Breed. GRAND CHAMPION SELECT When quality warrants, after BOB and BOS are awarded, a Select Dog (SD) and Select Bitch (SB) may be chosen from the remaining Champions (Non Regular Class winners that are Champions and Qualify for BOB are eligible) - (WD or WB are not eligible) (AKC Dog Show Rules, Chapter 3, Section 14 Effective 5-12-10) AWARDS OF MERIT After awarding Best of Breed, Best of Winners, and Best of Opposite Sex, the judge may award up to a maximum of six (6) Awards of Merit to exhibits in the breed ring that are, in the judge s opinion, outstanding specimens. The total number of Award of Merits the judge is allowed to award is determined by the total number of dogs and bitches competing in the Best of Breed Competition as follows: 4-9=1 10-14=2 15-19,=3 20-24=4 25 or more=5. BEST PUPPY - OFFERED AT MORNING SHOW The judge will select a Best Puppy from the First Place Dog and Bitch winners from the 6-9 Month and 9-12 Month classes. BEST BRED BY EXHIBITOR - OFFERED AT AFTERNOON SHOW The judge will select Best Bred By Exhibitor from the first place winners from the BBE Dog and Bitch class. BRED BY EXHIBITOR (BBE) CLASS ELIGIBILITY (Offered at both shows ) All dogs entered in the Bred-By Class must be individually registered with the AKC. The person handling the dog must be a breeder of record of the dog and an owner of record of the dog. To exhibit in this class, family members must be a breeder and owner of record. NON-REGULAR CLASSES INVOLVING SINGLE DOG ENTRIES Veteran Dogs (over 7 Years of Age) Veteran Bitches (Over 7 Years of Age) Neutered Dogs and Spayed Bitches may compete in the Veterans Classes only at independent specialties. Kay Barthel Memorial Perpetual Trophy Statue is a Limited Edition cold-cast bronze of German Shorthaired Pointers on a walnut base. Let s Talk it Over This trophy is offered for Best of Winners at the Specialty Morning Event only. For permanent possession this trophy must be won three times by the same owner, not necessarily consecutively and not necessarily with the same dog or bitch. The trophy is to remain in the possession of the GSPC of San Diego Club until won outright. Club is responsible for engraving on the trophy each dog s name and ownership each year it is won. PUPPY SWEEPSTAKES The Sweepstakes is open to all eligible German Shorthaired Pointers at least 6 months of age and under 24 months of age on the day of the show. The age group classes (each divided by sex): 6 mos & Under 9 mos 12 mos & Under 18 mos 9 mos & Under 12 mos 18 mos & Under 24 mos The first place winner of each class is eligible to compete for Best in Sweepstakes and Best of Opposite Sex to Best in Sweepstakes. VETERAN SWEEPSTAKES The Veteran Sweepstakes, NEED NOT be entered in a regular or non-regular class at this show, including champions, neutered dogs and spayed bitches. The classes (each divided by sex): Veteran 7 years to 10 years of age Veteran 10 years of age and older The first place winner of each class is eligible to compete for Best in Veteran Sweepstakes and Best of Opposite Sex to Best in Veteran Sweepstakes. PUPPY AND VETERAN SWEEPSTAKES PRIZES AWARDED AS FOLLOWS: Division of Stakes: The Club will retain 20% of total Sweepstakes entry fees. Best in Sweepstakes - 50% Best of Opposite Sex - 30% Sweepstakes prize money will be given to the handler in the ring. Any money not awarded will be retained by GSPCSD

Four-to-Six Month (Beginner Puppy) Competition Regulations Classifications - The Four-to-Six Month Puppy competition shall be for dogs that are four months of age and over but under six months on the day of the event. Classes will be offered for breeds and varieties and divided into Groups as described in Chapter 3, Section 1 of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows and the Miscellaneous Class breeds as listed in Chapter 3, Section 23. The Miscellaneous class competition will be the equivalent of Group competition and the winner will be eligible to compete in Best Four-to-Six Month Puppy in Show. The FSS competition will be the equivalent of Group competition and the winner will be eligible to compete in Best Four-to-Six Month Puppy in Show. Entry and Eligibility - Entry and eligibility requirements include: The Four-to-Six Month Puppy event may be offered at licensed or member dog shows at the option of the show giving club. Four-to-Six Month Puppy Competition must be listed in the premium list, entry form and judging schedule, if offered. AKC registration number or an AKC litter number will be required for entries of an AKC recognized breed as listed in Chapter 3, Section 1 of the Rules Applying to Dog Shows. A foreign born dog may enter this class if they are registered in the country of origin. FSS number or FSS registered litter number will be required for Miscellaneous and FSS breed entries. All entrants are to be vaccinated (including rabies) in accordance with their veterinarian s protocol. Professional handlers are not permitted to exhibit in this class. Professional handlers are defined as any person who belongs or has belonged to a professional handlers organization, distributed rate cards, or otherwise advertised or represented themselves as handling dogs for pay. Titles - The Certificate of Merit (CM) title is an introductory title to AKC conformation events. Entrants in each breed shall compete for Best of Breed and Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed. Winners of the Best of Breed in each of the individual breeds or varieties will be awarded points toward the CM title based on the number of dogs defeated in their breed or variety. Winners of Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed in each of the individual breeds or varieties will be awarded points toward the CM title based on the number of dogs defeated in their sex. Group winners will be eligible for the highest number of points earned by any breed within that Group. Best Four-to-Six Puppy in Show will be eligible for the highest number of points earned by any breed entered. The Certificate of Merit requires 15 points awarded in accordance with the following points structure. Dogs Competing Points 2-1 4-2 8-3 12-4 16-5 Ribbons - Best Four to Six Puppy in Show will be as follows: Best of Breed Orange Best of Opposite Sex Lavender - Best Four-to-Six Month Puppy in Show Pink & Green

Any person that issues a check that is returned for non-payment, will be required to pay a fine of $30.00 per check and all items with which check or checks were issued shall then be paid by cash, money order, or cashier s check. CHANGES, ADDITIONS, CORRECTIONS OR CANCELLATIONS to entry forms must be received in writing by U.S. Mail, Telegram, or by FAX, Signed and Dated by Owner or Agent prior to the close of entries. Not acceptable by Telephone. ENTRIES MUST BE SUBMITTED with required entry fee on an Official American Kennel Club Entry Form. Entries submitted in the form of telegrams or by telephone, cannot be accepted. ENTRY FEES SHALL NOT BE REFUNDED in the event that a dog is absent, disqualified, excused by Judge, or barred from competition by action of the show committee, or because the dog is ineligible to compete due to being entered incorrectly. There is no refund of entries fees for duplicate entry or overpayment of entry fees. If because of riots, civil disturbances, fire extreme and/or dangerous weather conditions, and Act of God, public emergency, act of a public enemy, strikes or another acts beyond the control of the Club or Show Secretary it is impossible to open or complete the show, no refund of entry fee will be made. AN ADMINISTRATIVE FEE of $2.00 will be charged for all cancellations or changes made prior to closing of entries. ONLY DOGS THAT ARE ELIGIBLE to be shown under the American Kennel Club rules shall be allowed on the show grounds and dogs excused form further judging are to be removed promptly. ALL DOGS SHALL BE held on leash or confined to their crates, except when being judged or when being exercised. THERE SHALL BE NO drilling nor intensive or corrective training of dogs on the show grounds or premises. DOGS MUST BE READY FOR JUDGING. The Club and its Show Secretary will not be responsible and are not obligated to furnish any service for notifying exhibitors or their agents of breed or class judging. Judges will not wait for any dog hold ing up a class. Owners or agents alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging rings. DOGS NEED TO BE AT THE SHOW only at scheduled time for judging and may leave immediately thereafter, unless required for further judging. THE CLUB reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value, ALL TROPHIES must be claimed the day of the show. None will be mailed or otherwise distributed. CLASS CASH PRIZES will be paid in the ring to the persons showing the dog. Claims for prize money must be made in the ring before the judging of that Breed is over and the Show Secretary s Office is advised at once. The Show Secretary and Show giving Club disclaim any liability for cash prizes after the judging of the Breed is over. THE WELFARE OF AN EXHIBITOR S CHILD is assumed to be the responsibility of the exhibitor. It is distinctly understood that exhibitors will exercise control and restraint over their children on the day of the show. For everyone s safety, no baby strollers or wheeled child carriers are allowed on the show grounds. ALL PERSONS ATTENDING THIS DOG SHOW hereby waive any claim for damages against German Shorthaired Pointer Club of San Diego, its members, or agents, in the event a motor vehicle must be entered to rescue a dog from overheating or suffocation due to improper ventilation. German Shorthaired Pointer Club of San Diego ITS SHOW SECRETARIES, THEIR AGENTS, EMPLOYEES, ETC. WILL USE DUE CARE AND DILIGENCE FOR THE WELFARE OF DOGS AND EXHIBITORS, BUT WILL ASSUME NO RESPONSIBLITY FOR ANY LOSS, DAMAGE OR INJURY SUSTAINED BY EXHIBITORS, HANDLERS, OR TO ANY OF THEIR DOGS OR PROPERTY PARTICIPATING IN THESE SHOWS, AND FURTHER ASSUMES NO RESPONSI- BILITY FOR INJURY TO CHILDREN AT THESE SHOWS. ANY EXHIBITOR OR PERSON in their employ found to be littering or failing to clean-up after their dogs will be brought before the event committee. EXHIBITORS should follow their veterinarians recommendation to assure their dogs are free of internal and external parasites, any communicable diseases, and have appropriate vaccinations. GENERAL RULES FOR EXHIBITORS AND THOSE ATTENDING THE GERMAN SHORTHAIRED POINTER SPECIALTIES AND DEL SUR WEEKEND SET-UPS: Personal tents and personal generators will be allowed in designated areas only, no exceptions. No exercise pens or set-ups within 20 feet of the rings or in the Fire Lanes No exercise pens or set-ups in Main Day of Show parking lot. All dogs on grooming loops must be attended at all times. No Vehicles or Vehicle Traffic will be allowed on the show grounds for loading or unloading. Unloading is open from 6:00 am till 7:30 am. ATTENTION EXHIBITORS: Please note: gas stations and grocery stores are in Escondido 8.1 miles from show grounds. This show site has a NO Smoking and No Alcohol Policy. Please help the club retain the show site by following these rules. All exhibitors will be held responsible for the clean-up of their dogs. This includes all aisles, all surrounding areas, all parking lots, hotels and motels. Please put all trash in the proper receptacles. Any exhibitor who does not adhere to these rules may be subject to disciplinary action. PARKING DEL SUR DAY OF SHOW PARKING: $7.00 PER DAY, SATURDAY & SUNDAY, TWO DAY PASS $10.00 FRIDAY, SATURDAY, SUNDAY, 3 DAYS $15.00 and will be collected at the gate.
