Irish Wolfhound Club Championship Show 40 th Anniversary Friday 30 th March 2018 Judge- Ian Sexton I would like to thank the committee of the Irish Wolfhound Club for allowing me the Honour of Judging their 40 th Anniversary Show, I would also like to thank all exhibitors from home and abroad for their wonderful entry, I thoroughly enjoyed my day. MPD (7) 4 1 st. Mrs A S Macaulay s Ashgroave Foraster Via Gartlove (NAF TAF). At just 6 months old a very promising puppy, balanced, well boned and substantial throughout, typical head of the correct proportions, strong muzzle and a dark eye, correct bite. Long neck, well laid shoulders and a deep chest, ribs well sprung and carried well back, correct length of loin, well constructed rear quarters, with well bent stifles and low hocks, correct feet, good coat texture. He moved soundly coming and going and strode out in profile. Best Puppy Dog. 2 nd. Ms J Braine s Hollyhenge Black Russian. Another 6 month old, black with white tips, lovely head, dark eye and ears well set and carried, long neck, well laid shoulders and the correct amount of width across his fore chest. Deep chest and ribs well sprung, topline correct and nicely angulated rear quarters, coat of the correct texture. Nicely angulated rear quarters and low set hocks, his front movement was a little unsettled today and I just preferred the movement of the first placed puppy. 3 rd. Mr K & Miss M Evans-Jones & Halsall s Valheru Rhagnar. A 7 month old, tall and raw at the moment but showing a great deal of promise for the future, masculine and well boned, head and muzzle of the correct proportions, dark eyes and the correct bite and dentition. Long strong neck, well laid back shoulders and a deep chest, ribs well sprung and carried well back, correct length of loin and broad thighs, good feet, movement a little erratic at the moment, correct coat texture, this puppy can only improve with age and maturity.

PD (1) 1 st. Miss A & Mr L Webb & Simmons, Lonnkyle Paladin at Foinaven (IMP CAN). An 11 moth old, looking a little heavy over his shoulders at the moment, well grown for his age, masculine and well boned throughout. A broad skull and a strong muzzle, powerful neck, well laid shoulders, topline correct and a deep chest, ribs carried well back and the correct length of loin. Broad muscular thighs, correct coat texture, I would have preferred more bend of stifle, movement a little unsettled when coming on. JD (7) 4 1 st. Mrs T A Appleyards Bonafortes Odysey. A 17 month old having a very shapely and typical outline, balanced and in proportion, masculine head and muzzle, dark eyes and the correct bite. Ears carried correctly, long strong neck and well laid back shoulder blades, front legs straight with a slight bend to his pasterns, deep chest and well sprung rib cage, ribs carried well back and the correct length of loin. Correct topline and strong well angulated rear quarters, his movement was sound and true coming and going and showed reach and drive in profile, coat of the correct texture, well handled and presented, I am sure he has a promising future ahead. 2 nd. Dr PP & Miss S Das Purkayastha s Ballyphelan Asansol Among Neckrebagh. Just turned 12 months old, a dark grey brindle, substantial throughout with good bone and substance, broad skull and correct length of muzzle, dark eyes and the correct bite. Strong rear quarters with broad muscular thighs, good bend of stifle, correct feet, he moved soundly with reach and drive. 3 rd. Mrs D Hanlon s Ranfurly Prince. Another one just over the 12-month mark and new to the junior class, I would prefer more overall size and substance, head long, strong muzzle and a dark eye. Neck of the correct length, well laid shoulders, deep chest and a well sprung ribcage, topline correct, a little steep in croup and I would prefer more bend of stifle.

Mrs Ahrend s Appropriate Boccaccio (ATC AU02900DE). A 2-year-old brindle with white tipped feet and tail, I preferred the head of the first placed dog, but he has a skull that is not too broad and a strong muzzle, dark eyes and well set ears.
