Pigeon Pixels One Loft Race 2015 This is the third year the Pigeon Pixels One Loft Race has been held and for the third year running we sold all available spaces for the event with ease. We increased the prize money this year and have also introduced the Best of the Best race and Knockout competition. We increased the entries to a maximum of 64. We had a large amount of people enquiring regarding entry and all 64 spaces were soon sold. We limited entry to 3 birds per member and each entry cost 35. This generated over 2,500 in prize money for the event, which is the biggest prize fund we have ever had! The Gold Ring Scheme received huge support and 102 per Hotspot will be awarded to the first Gold Ring bird clocked in each of the 5 Hotspots. This year s race series is will consist of the following:- The Pigeon Pixels One Loft Race series will comprise of the following:- 1st Hotspot 103 miles Trophy for 1st place & 100.00 to the winner! 2nd Hotspot 103 miles Trophy for 1st place & 100.00 to the winner! 3rd Hotspot 124 miles Trophy for 1st place & 150.00 to the winner! 4th Hotspot 124 miles Trophy for 1st place & 150.00 to the winner! 5th Hotspot 156 miles Trophy for 1st place & 200.00 to the winner! The 3 rd Hotspot once again took place from 103 miles. The birds were trained during the week in the build up to the race. The first two hotspots saw 100% returns from both races and once again expectations were high for good returns in the third race of this years series. News throughout the week came through that a couple of birds would be making their debuts in this year s event after sitting out the first two races. It was confirmed on the basket night when 45 birds were entered for the race with just bird still deemed unfit to go. Eamon really puts the birds first and if in any doubt they remain in the loft with the bird s welfare first and foremost. Pools were open throughout the week and this race saw a record amount of the Pigeon Pixels One Loft race being placed on the birds. In total 18 birds received their owners financial backing and 180 was due to be paid to the winner of the Nom. The birds were due to be liberated this week for the first time with the full NIPA convoy which saw nearly 23,000 birds take to the sky at once! Members were discussing how the One Loft birds would fare with this amount of birds. Prize money for this race was 150.00 for 1 st Open, 102 for 1 st Gold Ring and 180 for 1 st Nom bird so a total of 432 was up for grabs against 45 birds! That is a very nice amount and all members were fancying their chances! News came through that the birds were liberated in a mass NIPA liberation of 21,847 birds at 11.00am. The weather was tough at the home end and the birds were expected to be tested for sure! This proved correct with the birds being well spaced out for the first time this series. Congratulations on winning 1 st Open goes to Colinp Colin Priestman. Colin is from County Durham and joined the site this year and is having his first experience of the race. He has made a great start though as he was 1 st Open in the 1st Hotspot and 2 nd Open in the 2 nd Hotspot with the nest mate of this week s winner! What a pair of birds and what a fabulous start they have made to the race series with 2 x 1 st and 1 x 2 nd in just 3 races! His bird was clocked at 12.35.23, 1hr 35 minutes for the 103 miles flight. The Dam was entered into the Somerset OLR and returned on the day, from Ypres, in Belgium. Returns were once again to the highest standard possible with Eamon having 44 out of the 45 birds returning to the loft. So 3 races, and just 1 bird lost to date! I will keep saying it.is there a better One Loft manager in the world in terms of returns? If you want your birds to be given every chance of winning you need to send them to the Pigeon Pixels One Loft Race! The birds will now move on to 124 miles for the 4th Hotspot that will take place next week. No doubt, Eamon will be back to business on Monday morning to get the team prepared for the coming race! All birds in the top 10 of the result have received points towards the Ace pigeon and the top 15 birds in the standings after the One Loft Race will qualify for the Best of the Best Race from 236 miles in the Irish National with 500 on offer to the first bird clocked. 500 against a maximum of 15 birds is very good odds you just need birds good enough to qualify for the race! All birds competing in the event will have the option to be returned to their owners at the end of the OLR race series free of charge, or can remain in the loft and compete in the Irish Nationals in the Pigeon Pixels Classic Challenge!
