Coventry & Leicester Cat Club Saturday the 23 rd of February 2018 Kirstyn Nicholas I can not thank Leslie and the team enough for allowing me the honour to judge at such a well run and friendly show. This team, in my opinion, really encompass the welcoming side of the cat fancy and to allow me to judge alongside my daughter on her 10 th Birthday was very special to us both. As my first booked stewarding engagement I whooped with delight to be asked and was on cloud nine for weeks! My continued gratitude to my very best friend, Lorrayne Hanks for her expert stewarding and kind and gentle handling of the exhibits. It was one of my favourite days of the year and sharing it with you was simply perfect! Most importantly thank you to all that placed their cats under me. I hope I did not disappoint too many people and I hope that I can reassure you all that there were many worthy winners on the day. The standard of cats was higher than I have ever seen, and I was truly blown away by more than one exhibit. Congratulations to you all as never has the saying you take the best exhibit home been truer. I was lucky enough to choose best Kitten and I had two fabulous kittens to choose from. My winner had kept us entertained all day eagerly seeking attention and purred like a train when given the chance for a cuddle. She was my daughters cat of the day. Huge congratulations. Class 873 Imperial Class Ac Non-Pedigree Grand Master Cat Imperial Gummery GMC Pumpkin Spice (SH Tortie & White) FN 2yrs 6mnths What a fabulous way to start the day! A total lady who met my eyes with confidence immediately demanding fuss. She was a little unsettled at first and so we began our interaction in the security of her pen where she rolled on her side and eagerly rubbed herself against my hand. The level of preparation to this coat is to be admired and it was luxurious to the touch, silky smooth with a high level of gloss. The red is rich and vibrant and the black well defined with a flashy pattern that I am very partial to. My steward whooped with delight when we noticed that she has that extra toe, how very special and as I had expected sparkling white. She soon calmed (Pumpkin Spice not my steward) and so we brought her out and put her on the trolley, had a little chat, turned her away from her pen and she immediately relaxed. It was my pleasure to award this lady an Imperial Award and so very deserved. Congratulations to those who get to share their life with such a special lady. Class 881a Sh Ginger of any Pattern or Ac Tortie/Tortie Tabby Cat Male/Female BIC Lynch IGMC Teddy (SH Ginger & White) MN 2yrs 9mnths I have met this young man before and everything said before still stands. Early in the morning many exhibits were unsettled but this gentleman refused to be anything other than the professional he is and oozed confidence. His coat is prepared to the highest of standards, soft and sparking within the white areas. The coat on his tummy is slightly longer and curls around your fingers. Teddy is in top condition and deceptively heavy with a muscular and strong body. Cross IGMC Neville (SH Ginger) MN 1yr and 11months
Such a sensitive look on these young man s face, sweet and almost sorrowful expression reflected in those soft green eyes. His red is superb, and his tabby marking are clear and defined, soft to the touch and not a single stray hair. Unfortunate to be up against the more confident BIC winner today. I hope to meet him again when he is a little happier and consider the tale he tells in that expression. Fitzhardy OBIGMC Gizmo (SH Tortie & White) FN 5 Years This lady has all the WOW in the world for me. Fabulous flashy tortie girl with vibrant, warm colouring and I just loved the tips to the ears. Her eyes have determination reflected in the strong green and her beauty spot tops it off as a nod to Marie Antoinette in the French Revolution. Unfortunately, once out of the pen she did not decide to mellow and in no uncertain tone told me that she preferred to rest in the comfort of her bed chamber thank you very much! This said I love a lady with attitude and I hope to meet her again. Gummery GMC Pumpkin Spice (SH Tortie & White) FN 2yrs 6mnths Please see my report Imperial Lewis IGMC Miss Mary (SH Dark Tortie) 2yrs 9mnths I simple loved this girl and I truly wanted to give 2 BIC s (I did try but got caught). Her autumnal rich colours are warm and evenly mingled presenting a truly pretty as a picture vision. Her coat is dense and crisp but did feel slightly gritty and I wonder if she had been rolling in her litter tray? The pleasure in this lady is in her temperament and my congratulations to the person or persons who share their home with such a cuddle monster. She is confident and gregarious enjoying every second and I simply didn t want to put her down. Class 886 Lh/Slh Ac Tabby Cat (Ex Red or Tortie) of any Pattern This class caused me the biggest headache of the day and I deliberated and deliberated before deliberating some more! It could so easily of gone either way as both cats were prepared to the highest of standards and came out the pen well. Although different they are both of fabulous Maine Coon Type and my congratulations to both owners. BIC - Watson IGMC Alfie Moon (SLH Blue Silver Classic Tabby & White) MN 5yrs and 4mnths WHAT A CAT!!! The strength to this gentleman s head is incredible, his bold green eyes are mesmerising and truly take your breath away. He has such presence and the light highlighted the silver within his coat bringing it to life. He is very substantial but comes out easily understanding that he is to be admired. The preparation to this coat cannot be improved upon and the most has been made of the lion like ruff that frames his head. His ears are strong and the flash on his nose only complete the perfection. Huge congratulations and I am more than a little jealous that you get to share your life with such a stunner! Rawlinson GMC Rocco (SLH Silver Classic Tabby) MN 2yrs 4mnths FABULOUS!!! Everything a Maine Coon should be and more. In my opinion a Maine Coon should still maintain that look of a wild cat, such as the Lynx, to be found at home in the boreal forest of Russia or central and eastern Asia. This boy does not disappoint! I loved the fierce expression and strength to jaw. His tabby marking is clearly defined, and his tail is full and flowing. My sincere compliments
to the groomer. He was a little less confident out of the pen and the light appeared to unsettle him slightly but please be reassured he is a winner in his own right and will only continue to improve with age. Class 888a/b LH/SLH AOC or Pattern Cat Yet another impossible class to judge! My show world started with my own special Blue Birman boy, who I have also shown in HHP s, and so I know only to well the hard competition in this class. BIC and MC Scott Verity (SLH Seal Point) FN 8yr 1mnth LOVE LOVE LOVED HER! Her heart shaped face and endlessly deep eyes captivated me from the start. She is a tiny dot of a girl with a cloud like coat that was prepared to the last hair with fabulous contrast and a temperament to die for. She rolled in my arms and looked up at me paddling the air in delight. I couldn t help myself and swooped in for a kiss only to have her tiny paws gently stroke my face. I was lost! She was a mass of loveliness wrapped up in a layer of confusion her first show???? WHAT??? Over 8years old???? WHAT???? She is made to be adored and I am delighted to be one of the first to fall in love with her. I so hope you continue to share her with us as I will take any opportunity available to cuddle and share kisses. Robinson MC Emily (SLH Blue Cream Tortie) 11 months Such a pretty girl with fabulous warmth to her coat and clear bright eyes that showed depth when catching the light. She was desperate to get out of her pen, loving her day. She almost leaped into my stewards arms and purred in delight while we took in her beauty. So confident and its obvious how much she is loved. MC to Burgess Del Boy (SLH-Cream) MN 9 Months This boy is very close to perfection for me. My notes start with GLOURIOUS and I think that describes him perfectly. His coat is of the warmest cream and every single hair has been prepared to stand away from the body covering him with a life of its own. I am a sucker for eyes and his are of deepest amber, round and classy. Unfortunately, he was a little overwhelmed by the day and preferred to hide underneath his blanket. We spent some good time with Del Boy and came back before the award as I feel he has something very special, but I do think that the noises and bustle of the day effected how well he showed himself off. I hope to meet him again when he is more relaxed. Bennet MC Binx (SLH Blue Mitted) MN 1yr 10months A boy made for cuddles he has the most incredible aqua marine eyes and uses them to his full advantage if he had lashes to flutter I am confident he would! Lovely cotton wool textured coat that covers a deceptively muscular body. Burgess OBIGMC Sydney (SLH Cream Silver Shaded) MN 2 years Brother to my MC winner he most definitely knows how to strut his stuff!!!! This boy oozes confidence and took his place on the judges table in a manner similar to how a king takes his throne. A coat that holds fire in its cream and richer than many reds. Well prepared although had a sneaky little knot that had crept in behind his ear. Eyes not quite as bold as his brother but as round as a plate and framed perfectly. Coupland IGMC Olly Purrs (SLH Lilac Tabby Point) MN 2yrs 8months What a flirt! Not sure who this boy has been watching but he is all head butts and full on body rubs. He loves his time out on the bench and rightfully so. Gorgeous blue eyes that hold a mischievous
glint that together with his provocative energy shows such character- and all this is wrapped up in a lovely delicate lilac coat. Lovely. I loved this boy and he ran my winner close. Hughes IGMC Mario (SLH Seal Point Bicolour) MN 2yrs 11months A few cats have the ability to come front of mind and this is one of those lads. He has a strong expression with a blaze that runs down his nose and a chin that has been dipped in the cream. A substantial boy with a gentle giant of a nature. Deep blue eyes that watch you, assessing every move. Robinson OBIGMC Theo (SLH Seal Tabby Point) MN 4yrs and 8months In a very hard class, within a show with fabulous cats, this boy has simply the BEST eyes! They are bold and perfect in shape and are the centre piece of a head that is broad and of lovely type. Another boy who knows how to do his job and confidently surveys all around him. Fabulous grooming although he is beginning to shed some of those winter layers. Smith and Pugh IGMC Onni (SLH Blue Tabby Point and White Bi Colour) MN 2yrs 11mnths I smile when remembering this boy who rolled on his back, legs in the air and begged for attention. Aloof he is not! Fortunately, his lucky family had groomed his tummy with skill as very proud of it he was. Britches like candyfloss was my steward s expression and it fits him perfectly. Class 891a and b SH AC Tabby Cat (Ex Red or Tortie) of any pattern BIC Kidd s Kate (SH Blue Silver Tabby) FN 1yr 6mnths Straight off the Whiskers advert I introduce to you Kate! A little star who is bound to steal many a heart. Such fabulous contrast/pattern and bold silver not common in Pedigree section lovely and soft and with growing density. Such a sweet and sincere expression with more than a hint of mischief behind her lovely round eyes it was a difficult choice between 2 fabulous examples one mature and one only starting on her journey. Today the flashy pattern won the day as both myself and my 2 nd steward daughter are suckers for a touch of bling. Kidd IGMC Rupert (SH Blue Silver Tabby) MN 6 Years A big teddy bear of a boy with real presence and a fabulous grumpy expression. Luckily looks are very deceiving and once out and settled on the table he vibrated with deep belly purrs. Crisp, dense coat quality, true blue and very well prepared, I see owned by the BIC winner. I would love to know if these 2 are related and huge congratulations on them both! Class 897 Ac Ex Stray Cat or Kitten 1 st to Lewis IGMC George (SH Classic Tabby) MN My favourite class in this section and this boy did not disappoint. His coat is rich with fabulous vibrancy. I adored the ticking and to combine this with such distinct tabby markings is quite spectacular. His eyes are gentle green ovals and he watches you with knowing trust. I love playing guess the mix and for me he has the grace of a Maine Coon with a strong muzzle, bold long ears and wisps that in my imagination could be lynx tips. Thank you to the owner for sharing this boy with us and allowing us all the pleasure in knowing just how well he has landed on his feet!
Class C905 1 st to Lewis IGMC George (SH Classic Tabby) MN Double win for me! Class 922 Ac Cat or Kitten with the most Appealing Expression More heartache for me in this class. 1 st Stone Maud (Sh Black Smoke) F Oh, my days! Pure impish delight with the cheekiest of faces and a temperament to die for. Bikini ready body wearing a chic poodle cut with dense curls on her head and tail a little lacking on her body. Such a confident little minx who I could have easily popped into my pocket at the end of the day! 2 nd Clothier-Bowden & Voysey Black Orchid (Sh Black and White) FN This lovely baby tells a story and I only wish I had more time to cuddle and listen. She was eager to get our attention and chatted loudly as we met the gaze of eyes that have expression and depth. I adored her whisker pad and just couldn t wait for my cuddle sorry steward. we found her very relaxed and she nuzzled in wonderfully. A lovely baby and I look forward to meeting her again. Ps Love her name it suits her perfectly. X2nd Scott Verity (SLH Seal Point) I have raved loudly about this girl previously 3 rd Bowles Tedddy (SLH Seal Point) Is there anything cuter than a Birman or Ragdoll baby? I think not, and Teddy is such a confident little love who is going to melt many a heart. Fabulous deep blue eyes that you could dive straight into and a coat so soft, begging to be stroked. X3rd Potts IGMC Miss Molly (SH Tortie Smoke) This lady is quite breath taking and has the best warmth and mingling to her coat and strength of body. She is sophisticated and classy with a presence that makes a judge sit up and take notice. I think the class that would describe her best is one who holds herself with the most dignity. Class 926 Ac Senior Cat 1 st Davies Lulu (SH Black) FN Another darling to judge who took her day in her stride. I have been lucky enough to be owned by a few black cats and I have always found them to have a swagger that is all their own and she is not an exception. Class 935 Ac Master Cat Non Pedigree Neuter Female 1 st Gummery SUP OSIGMC Bubble Spice (Long Hair Black and White) FN I have long admired this lady and was delighted to be given the opportunity to judge her although I must admit to being quite unsettled by her I already knew she was classy. I already knew she was gentle I already knew that she had won many classes and BIS.so what was there to learn???
Bubble Spice is a one in a million-show cat. She just knows how to show herself to the very best of her ability and it is truly breath taking to see. I do not have the words to explain and it makes no sense, but she simply dazzles for a judge. She is groomed to perfection and her white blinding and her black deep and rich to the roots. I can only congratulate the owners as that takes some work to achieve. Simply a fabulous girl! 2 nd Kemp SUP K Tigeress (SH Tabby and White) FN This little lady, not long in adult classes, holds her own and more. Again, a girl with magic and I can not wait to see how she matures. Lovely little blaze that runs down her face and bold expressive green eyes that meets a judge and claims attention. I just love her coat and the depth to those markings, Tigeress suits her perfectly and I can easily imagine her stalking prey within the depth of the jungle. 3 rd Lewis IGMC Miss Mary (SH Dark Tortie) FN Already written up Very high standard class Class 938 Ac Non-Pedigree Kitten 1 st Dolling Martha s Shades of Grey (SH Silver Tabby) FN What a way to end a day. Heaven. This little girl had the judges queuing up to meet her and more than a few of us wanted to take her home. Such a pretty girl with lovely silver markings, fabulous soft coat quality and I could have kissed those black toes. I can t wait to see how her eye colour develops as they are already of the boldest amber and she uses them to her full advantage. Congratulations and I love the naughtiness in her name.
