Puppies under six calendar months of age on the first day of the Show are not eligible for exhibition. 9. The mating of bitches within the precincts of the Show is forbidden. 10. Best Puppy in Show: Where a Best Puppy in Show competition is scheduled the Best Puppy in Show is a puppy which has competed and has been declared Best Puppy in Breed, Best Any Variety Not Separately Classified Puppy or Best Any Variety Imported Breed Register Puppy. A puppy is a dog of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on the first day of the Show. Where the Best of Breed or Best in Show is a puppy it should automatically be awarded Best Puppy in Breed and Best Puppy in Show respectively. Where the Reserve Best of Breed or Reserve Best in Show is a puppy which has only been beaten by an adult dog it should also automatically be Best Puppy in Breed and Best Puppy in Show respectively. Consequently, selection of Best Puppy in Breed and Best Puppy in Show must follow the selection of Best of Breed and Best in Show respectively. 11. Best in Show: Best in Show and subsequent placings must be selected from those dogs declared Best of Breed, Best from Any Variety Not Separately Classified and Best Any Variety Imported Breed Register. Best in Show and subsequent placings must be selected from: a. Those dogs declared Best of Breed b. The dog declared Best from the Any Variety Not Separately Classified classes in each Group or on each day and c. The dog declared Best from the Any Variety Imported Breed Register class or classes in each Group or on each day. 12. Exhibits will not be admitted to Best in Show competition after a period of ten minutes has elapsed since the announcement that exhibits are required for judging, unless they have been unavoidably delayed by previous judging not being completed on time, and then only with the special permission of the Show Management. 13. Exhibitors must not pick up dogs by their tails and leads when lifting them nor handle a dog in a manner which causes its feet not to touch the ground when on the move. This is not acceptable. Exhibitors should note that such practice would constitute harsh handling and reports of such practice will be referred to the Committee under Kennel Club Show Regulation F11. 14. All exhibitors must be familiar with Kennel Club Regulation F (Annex B) - Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition. 15. All dogs resident outside of the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number before entry to the show/event can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete number will be returned to the exhibitor/competitor. 16. Dogs in Vehicles on Hot Days. Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do s and don ts travelling to and whilst at KC licensed events. When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams. If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all. The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water available to drink.

Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog. When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle. Keep the dog in the shade - take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated. Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time. Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please look after your dog s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED. 17. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the Board for disciplinary action under the Kennel Club Rules and Regulations. The use of pinch collars, electronic shock collars, or prong collars, is not permitted at any show licensed by the Kennel Club. This shall apply at the venue or within the precincts of the show. 18. Not for Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded on the entry form and must be Kennel Club registered. 19. No modifications will be made to this Schedule except by permission of the Board of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible. 20. The entrance fee of a dog entered and not exhibited wil be forfeited. 21. No animal other than an exhibit shall be allowed within the precincts of the show, during its continuance, except by the special permission of the Board of the Kennel Club. The Society reserves to themselves the right to refuse any entries they may think fit to exclude. 22. In the event of a judge being prevented from fulfilling his or her engagement, the Committee reserves the right to appoint another in his or her place, subject to the terms of the Kennel Club Show Regulation 22(l). Exhibitors are then at liberty to withdraw from competition, but fees, etc., will not be refunded. 23. The Hon. Veterinary Surgeon or Hon. Secretary will be empowered to exclude any dog which in his or her opinion is not in a fit state for exhibition, either from disease or any other reason, and if such exclusion takes place, either before or after the dog is judged, entrance fees will be forfeited. 24. The Committee will not be responsible for the loss or damage to a dog or property, whether arising from accident or any other cause whatsoever, not for any act of omission of themselves, their Offices, Servants or others, and it is on this understanding only that entries are accepted. 25. Exhibitors must provide drinking bowls and food for their dogs and are responsible for cleaning up and removing any loose hair or fouling from dogs in their charge. This also applies to any other litter, whether in the car park, exercise area or from any other part of the venue and its precincts. This is now a Kennel Club requirement and offenders must be reported for further disciplinary action. Please consider others and ensure that this venue is kept as clean and tidy as possible and every facility will be provided for the cleaning up of any dirt left by your dog or yourselves. 26. Well behaved children are welcome but please note that parents and guardians will be held fully responsible for their actions, and any damage caused within the environs of the show. 27. Should any question arise not provided for in these Regulations then the decision of the Committee shall be final, subject only to appeal to the Kennel Club. 28. Trophies for class winners are to be listed in the catalogue and are to be held from corresponding show to show and are confined to members only, who will be responsible for their upkeep whilst in their care.
