February board meeting Just a note. There are NO minutes from the February Board meeting. To clarify : The reason there are no Minutes for Feb. Board meeting is there was no meeting/no quorum. Only Robin, Rita, and I were at the meeting, there was **no meeting**. Minutes approved as published in Yahoo Groups. Corresponding Secretary ( Tami Dance ) - absent, no report. Recording Secretary ( Ann Neftin), AKC Liaison (Jeff Kogan) -nothing new. Treasurer's report ( Rita Hoffman) - passed the monthly accounting for review by membership. Membership - ( Kathy Kogan) - Discussion. Board recommends JoAnn Borchard to membership as she has made an application, and attended to requisite 2 events (Herding Trial). We have two pending members. Sunshine ( Ann Neftin) - nothing new. Discussion. AKC All-Breed Agility Trial- April 4-5 - (Rebecca Chamlee Evy Criswell) - discussion on food for the Trial workers. For Saturday's Trial - Jeff Kathy Kogen volunteered to BBQ hot dogs hamburgers. Evy Criswell will make a green salad. Rita Hoffman will bring a dish. Ann Neftin will bring BBQ beans. Debbie Rohssler will bring drinks ice for BOTH days. Evy Criswell will contact Aljean Harmetz to see if she will do the morning Hospitality. **MEMBERS are encouraged to bring a dish to share** We might need a dessert or two. Approx. 75 people are currently entered ( probably MORE to come as entries are NOT yet closed). Sunday's Trial - Evy Criswell volunteered to bring Subway sandwiches 2 to cover lunch. Ann Neftin will put a notice of this Trial on our Facebook page. CLOSES March 21. Herding Trial (Joyce Herie) was very well received and everyone had a great time. The Board discussed the following for next year, if we will be continuing having a Herding Trial - Premium list out 2 months in advance, taking donations for Trophies, letting everyone know the Herding Instinct Test *can* be entered day-ofshow, Advertise the Trial earlier and in more venues. Many thanks to Joyce Herie and her crew for all their work to put on a first class Herding Trial. Summerfest 2015 - July 2 Conformation Specialty, with 3 All Breeds to follow July 3, 4, 5, 2015. (Debbie Rohssler) - Tami Dance volunteered to do the morning Hospitality. Ann Neftin agreed to Ring Steward. A sign up sheet will be passed around for volunteers to do the judges ring steward's helper's lunches. Also help set-up take down, grounds, etc. at the Awards Dinner. Please volunteer!!! Debbie Rohssler- will get hotel for the judge, badges for workers, info on Supported entry by TVSSC for the All-Breed Club shows at Summerfest. Rita Hoffman suggested we might do the Supported Entry if TVSSC has input on judge selection for Shelties. November Agility Trial ( aka Linda Tjarks Trial) (Jeff Kogen) - raffle discussed. We will need to build our Cash account as each event we are holding is not breaking even, funds are dwindling. Cost cutting and fund- raising ideas discussed. Correspondence (Tami Dance) reported that she received official notice that our April Agility Trial (April 5 & 6, 2015) has been approved. Treasurer's report (Rita Hoffman, absent) printed report passed for members review. Membership (Kathy Kogen) - reported MANY members have NOT renewed/paid their dues. Sunshine (Ann Neftin) - reported nothing new. Legal (Jeff Kogen) - reported nothing new. 2014 Awards for TVSSC (due at this meeting) - discussion. Awards Dinner - March 23 (6:30 pm) location voted by membership Coco's Restaurant, Mission Hills. 2015 Specialty Herding Trial (Joyce Herie) ribbons ordered, trophies, Premium list out. Awaiting Insurance before proceeding. AKC All-Breed Agility Trial- April 5-6 at Tapo Cyn Park - April 5 & 6 - (Rebecca Chamlee & Evie Criswell) - Jeff Kogen reported the issue with distance & Linda Tjarks Trial has been resolved. Evie reserved rooms for judges and needs the club Credit Card for guarantee. Jeff volunteered to do this. Sheltie Only Agility trial 2016 Discussion on a *Shelties Only* Friday Trial either with Pat Charleton, or included into our April 2016 Trial. Tabled due to cost information needed. Summerfest July 2, 2015 - (Debbie Rohssler) - Ann Neftin reported on the Summerfest meeting attended by Rita Hoffman & herself. *NEW*- Badges for volunteers with their names on them will be provided to setup crews for Wed July 1 at 3 pm. Contact Robin Hoffman or Debbie Rohssler if you plan to volunteer to help the club so we can obtain the name badges for your entry to the show grounds. Chris Osborn has been working on the AKC application, adding the new classes and dropping Obedience. Summer BBQ - will be at the Hoffman's home. Date & time TBD. November Agility Specialty (Linda Tjarks Trial- Jeff Kogen will chair. Insurance for Club activities- Robin Hoffman gave us the low-down and highlights on Non-profits & Insurance. There are two, new members pending Sunshine chair was absent, but the Kogens report that Rocky is eating, stable, and on IV fluids. Joyce will invite Debbie Carloni to join our Yahoo group. General Membership Meeting Minutes February 23, 2015 Continued 2016 Nominating Committee: Debbie Rohhsler volunteer to chair committee (in Oct., 2015). Robin reports that for 2016 the offices of Treasurer and President will need to be filled. 2016 Agility Trial: We'll consider hosting a Sheltieonly trial Friday before these weekend trials. Insurance: We're now insured. All show/trial venues have been provided proof. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Nominating Committee is prepared; upcoming officers will not change. Awards Dinner is 3/23 at Coco's, at 18:30. Herding trial is next weekend, all is ready. Instinct testing will be offerred without pre-entry. Lunch will be available, but call Tink or DebbieR to assure there's enough. April Agility Trial: chairs were absent; no changes. Jeff will ask Evy if we need two or one hotel rooms. 2015 Summerfest (Chair Debbie): Judge will arrive BUR, depart LAX, Debbie will take her to dinner Wednesday evening. Treasurer provided $50 check to AKC for last, remaining fee. Debbie will find out who all -breed show judges are. Re Supported Entry, All-breed Chair says we would pay no money, provide no laborjust provide our club's name as "supporting." We'll discuss this further. Chris reports the trophies are all done. It was suggested we have a sign-up list at the awards dinner for people to volunteer trophy donations. Debbie will ask Trial Sec'y (Sharon L) re new puppy class 4-6 & owner/handler class. 2015 July New Trial: We will move this discussion to (possibly) having a Sheltie-only trial the day before our All-breed trial in April, 2016. Non-Profit Status: Dead issue; anyone is encouraged to study further. Serena Marshall "Tequila" (Can CH Shantels Tequila Town), went Best of Breed on 3/14 for his first AKC point! He's also looking forward to being a daddy.. his first litter is due anytime!~~ The non-sheltie (Border Collie) "Wynt", at his first Agility trial in 5 mos, got a first in 20" time to beat (our first time ever in it), and his first FAST Q with a 3rd place. Gina Edwards On 2/15/2015 O Shea earned MACh 12 in Camarillo under Courtney Moore. Marie Eguro Aratone's Sugar Rush "Vanellope Von Schweetz" (BISS CH Barwood Clearsky Fireworks X Aratone Westar Dating A Royal PT) took Best of Breed baby puppy at the So Cal sheltie specialty. Also, Jase (Aratone Westar Triple Threat) co -owned by myself, Mark Hersman, and Mary Heitsman, earned his first AKC point towards his championship recently. Jase is a full litter brother to Gracie Lou (Aratone Westar Dating A Royal PT) Carol Curtiss Kimber got her Novice JWW title at the Rottie trial under Jeff Kogan. She finished the title with 2 firsts and 1 second (had to try the weaves 2 times). Colt got his 2nd and 3rd legs to finish his Novice Rally at the SSC of So Cal Specialty in Bloomington. He finished his title with a 97. Rockie made sheltie history... Joyce Herie Xia finished her conformation Championship on February 21st, at the Linn County KC show with a 4 pt. Major. She is now known as Ch. Westernesse Fun And Frolic, OA, OAJ, OF. At the inaugural TVSSC Herding trial, 2 of Xia's daughters finished titles. Khloe completed her Instinct test title and Kourtney finished her Herding Tested title. Xia's other children are busy racking up titles and High in Trials in Obedience, Herding, Agility and Nosework. According to breed historian, Bob Miller, Rockie has the most titles with 122 AKC titles MACH13 PACH6 L'IL BIT BLACK MAGIX ROCKIE, MXB4 MJS4 MXP14 MXPB2 MJP15 MJPS2 PAX6 MXF MFB TQX XFP T2BP6 (via Joyce Herie - Thanks Joyce for passing on the news!) 5
