Next Meeting 7:00 PM Monday November 12, 2018 General Club Business Dear members and friends, For those who prefer to keep our December party in a restaurant setting, I have good news. As announced a few weeks ago, after losing our prior location and under duress for time, we were going to scale back the party this year and hold it at the Training Center. But at the October meeting, Nina Daly stepped up and offered to do the work of finding a new location, setting up the menu and all the necessary planning and she has come through on that promise. Our new location will be La s Bistro in Ormond Beach and the party is still scheduled for the First Monday of the month - December 3 rd. Please see the back page of this newsletter for complete information and the reservation form and money which you must send to Nina. IMPORTANT CHANGE. We have temporarily suspended collecting annual shot records on member s dogs. We will still require shot records for all dogs enrolled in Puppy, Basic, and Intermediate classes. The mountain of papers (some dating back to 2015) became an administrative nightmare and we are reassessing how to collect and keep control of this important information. The existing stack (mostly outdated) of shot records will be shredded to protect your privacy. Note: Any individual instructor may require shot records if they desire. OCOD December Obedience and Rally Trial - December 8&9. This event is now as popular as our long standing July Trial. Ralph still has some slots for stewards and we always need a few on stand-by just in case. Our trials are a fun learning experience for all dog enthusiasts whether you compete or steward or both. Don t miss this opportunity. Pat Mozden

Page 8 November 2018 Chatter-Barks Information about the upcoming Obedience & Rally Trials by Ralph Orlando Trial Chairman Our fast approaching Obedience and Rally trial will be hear before you know it. The trial is December 8-9 (S,S). That means about 25 energetic volunteers needed to cover the 2 days. Right now we are about 10 short of the manpower needs and I have no doubt in fulfilling the need as sign ups come in. On Friday December 7 we will be setting up for the trial. Rings and gating will be checked and set, chairs typically stacked along the front windows for guests to use as needed, any private chairs and crates removed for members not showing, awards & ribbon tables set up, ringside table tables set up with trial supplies at each table. Puppy room toys and equipment will have to be moved into the agility room and neatly stacked so as to leave room for any additional crating needs for exhibitors. There is more but you get the idea. This is a good size undertaking. We will also be using 4 show rings this time so crating normally in ring 4 will not be available. After the trial ends on Sunday the process is reversed. I have been asked by stewards what time is show up time. Typically :45 before start time is the answer. Most judges will arrive 1 hour or so before 1st dog in. They will often need help from their stewards in getting their rings set. They will also brief the stewards to clarify how they want to run their class. Rally stewards will help with placing the sign holders and signs. Needed also will be a few large coolers for bottled water kept on ice. Snack food for stewards will be on a office table and a dining tables for judges will also be set up there. Food for stewards and other workers will be supplied by Gayle's cake shop 2 doors away. There is and has been a white board at our front door showing the menu from previous event and the December will be close to that same menu. Next question is how many can come on Friday Dec. 8th to get all of this done (the need will be determined by what is left to do after the Sunday before clean up). I think the best plan would be to get a lot of the heavy lifting done on cleaning day Dec. 3 when there should be a large work crew leaving less to do on Dec. 7th.
