Strong South Devon steers (22m) from Basil Cane of Plymouth saw 193ppk and 1242 with well finished Galloway steers (28m) from Brian Vallance of Bickington also seeing 193ppk ( 1074). Best OTM prime cattle got 181ppk for Andy Richards of Exminster. The blistering trade seen of late for Barren Cows was more than sustained with a top per kilo of 165 pence ( 1049) for a cracking Limousin from Adrian Wilton of Blackawton whilst highest price realised was an enormous 1331 (144ppk) for a tremendous Simmental cow from Charlie Gregory up from St Columb. A well presented lorry load of young grazing sorts from Andrew Lawrence of Mullion sold well and to 155ppk for Limousins as eleven averaged 147ppk and 775. Two well covered South Devons from Phillip & Dawn Cleave, Holne attracted plenty of interest as both attained 148ppk ( 1174 & 1129) also their Limousin cow (probably with some Galloway blood in her) looked dear at 140ppk ( 864). A hefty Angus cow from Andrew Johns of Newton Abbot hit 138ppk ( 943) followed by Peter Hooper, Bovey Tracey with his best halter broken Limousin to 135ppk. The uplift in demand for barreners once again helped the dairy men with Holstein types to 125ppk ( 926) for Friend & Reeve of Sandford with Jersey cows from the Davis family of Westleigh looking a good trade and topping at 100ppk ( 501).
