Cavaliers of the South 12/04/10, Nashville, TN Judge: Mandy Mulligan (Nightingale) I would like to thank the Cavaliers of the South for inviting me to judge their wonderful championship show in Nashville this year. Everything ran very smoothly due to the efficiency of Earline Barrois and Nancy Maddox. I want to give a special thank you and vote of appreciation to Mimi Hodges who acquired the most phenomenal rosettes that I have ever seen. It made the day so special for both the winners and for me. Well done Mimi! I would also like to thank the exhibitors for showing their lovely dogs. I was very pleased with the entry. I thought the quality overall was excellent. The majority of the dogs were so well presented and in good condition. One thing that comes to mind is that our standard calls for well muscled hindquarters. Many of the dogs that I went over could use a little roadwork or more running in the yard. The hindquarters give the drive the dogs need to have that beautiful fluid movement around the ring. Also I would like to remind exhibitors to resist trimming. There were a few examples of trimmed dogs today. I wish a very Happy New Year to all in our club. We have a unique and wonderful group of people and dogs that we should all be proud of. I am pleased that my family and I can be a part of this Cavalier world. Junior Puppy Dog (5) 1. Seneca Manor Native Dancer (Gerkin) Sweet 5 ½ month old blenheim with lovely proportions and good bone for his age. Attractive head, lovely eyes. I liked his length of neck and shoulder placement. Level topline and correct tailset and carriage. Best mover in the class. Showed with confidence and pizzazz for such a young man. Very promising pup that should do well. 2. Orchardhill Quiet American (Venier) Almost 9 month puppy showing his maturity in this class. Loads and loads of straight coat. He has a beautiful head with large, dark round eyes. Neck and shoulders correct. Topline was the problem today. He was roaching his back, particularly on the move. 3. Parkbury Sole Mate (Parker) 7 month old blenheim with a nice compact body. Good topline and spring of ribs. Pretty head, correct topline. Good movement. Tailset a bit low. 4. Krystle Born On The Fourth Of July (Torgersen) Baby puppy showing on his 5 month birthday. Very sweet face, good bone, but carrying too much weight which spoiled his movement and topline. Senior Puppy Dog (2) 1. Dreamvale Smart As The Dickens (Warshaw) Adorable tri boy that has so much going for him. Starts off with a pretty head, lovely eyes, long ears framing face with correct high earset. Well proportioned with a good amount of bone for his age. Level topline, correct tailset and carriage. Good rear angulation obvious in his drive and movement. Nice coat coming. His name is appropriate as he can be a little dickens in the ring. Best Puppy Dog, Best Puppy in Show 2. Benchmark Jet Setter (Compel) Another nice tri boy, larger than the first and a very different type. Attractive masculine head. Moves well. Correct topline. Showed well. Graduate Puppy Dog (3) 1. Alderbridge Logan Crestbury (Alder) Blenheim dog with broad head and nice large eyes. Moved well with level topline. Good bone. Well muscled. Nicely broken markings. 2. Lanmar Eclipse (Hubbard/Bucy) Lightly marked tricolor with very attractive head. Nice neck and shoulders. He moved well with correct topline. A bit slight on bone. 3. Lanmar Edward Cullen (Horsley/Hubbard) Blenheim dog littermate to #2. Many similar qualities with nice head and good movement. Just a little longer cast than his brother. Both of these boys show promise. Novice D (1) 1. Riverview Medicine Man (Barrois) Nice tri dog with a masculine head, lovely neck and shoulders. Good bone, well sprung ribs, deep chest. Level topline on the move. Nicely marked. Needs more development of hindquarters. Young dog that I would expect to mature nicely. Bred By Exhibitor Dog (1) 1. Ch Jayba Pucker Up, JW (Lander) Fabulous heavily marked blenheim dog that I have admired many times. He has the sweetest, most beautiful head, lovely big eyes, correct earset. Wonderful typey expression. Nicely made with deep chest, correct spring of ribs, short loin. Moves with level topline. Well muscled and in tip top shape. Presented beautifully. Junior Am Bred Dog (4) 1. Chadwick Scotch On The Rocks at Hundsonview (Yassky/Eckersley) Well marked blenheim dog shown in excellent coat. Attractive head with well placed round eyes. Lovely neck and shoulders. Excels in

topline and movement. Well angled hindquarters in good shape and muscle tone. Best mover in the class. Showed extremely well. I was thrilled to learn later that this class win gave him his Junior Warrant title. 2. Mimric Monogram, JW (Hodges/Perkins) Heavily marked blenheim, very attractive dog. Very excited and animated. Nice head, good bone for age. Stands four square with front under him and level topline. Presented in impeccable condition. 3. Saintbrides Seafarer (Kates) Well made blenheim dog with a fabulous body shape and movement. Good bone, level topline. Attractive masculine head with really lovely dark eyes. Deep rich color, beautiful markings with blenheim spot. Could use more coat. 4. Tusus Joshua Tree (Hardwick) Young blenheim with sweet face. Smaller than others. Moved well. Needs time to mature. American Bred Dog (9) This was a lovely class. 1. Tusus Party Like A Rock Star (Hardwick) Top quality heavily marked blenheim dog, best overall in the class in every way. Pretty head with large, dark, round eyes. Lovely neck into well laid back shoulders. Correct front, depth of chest, and spring of rib. Level topline and correct tailset and carriage. Moved with drive and ease. I was impressed with this dog, and I would expect him to do very well. 2. Tassajara Hugh Jackman (Seidman/Hughes/Berkau) Heavily marked blenheim boy with the most adorable head. Sweet face and expression. Good topline, moved very smartly. Well angled rear. Appeared a little closer behind today than #1. Really liked him. 3. Darane Jon Bon Jovi (Kates) Well made blenheim dog with so much to like. I think he was carrying a bit too much weight today and it threw off his topline. He has a beautiful head with lovely eyes. Dark pigment. Love his shape, length of back, short loin, strong rear. Well presented with plenty of coat. 4. Orchardhill Home By Dark (Sage/Venier) Very athletic dog with a lovely strong head, big dark eyes, and pleasing expression. Moves with drive and style. Excellent topline and strong rear. Well muscled and great attitude. Health/Conf Dog (1) 1. Ch Grantilley Galliano (Beavers/Hubbard) This is a dog that I have admired in the past. Hadn t seen him in quite some time, but boy did he look great. At 7 years old, he retains the beautiful head and expression that he is so well known for. Well proportioned, level topline, shown in excellent shape. Well muscled, strong mover. It was a pleasure to go over him and see him in the ring again. Special Limit Blenheim Dog (4) 1. EngCh Cinderlace Cromwell at Jayba, EngJW (Lander) Classy blenheim dog that moves around the ring like a superstar. He is so well made and lovely to go over on the table. Carries level topline and tail right off his back. Very masculine head with attractive expression. 2. Avalcier Princeton (Venier/Li) Another beautiful dog of very different type than #1. Gorgeous head with fabulous eyes. Extremely dark pigment. Moved well and good topline, carried his tail a bit high today. Flashy. 3. Flying Colors Apolo OHNO (Horsley/Gish) Larger boy, but very well proportioned. Attractive head, nice neck and shoulders. Moved well with correct topline and tail carriage. Super long ears. 4. Redthea King of Hearts (Fenley) Smaller boy with sweet expression. Another that moved well and level topline. Loved his head with nice eyes, well cushioned, correct muzzle. This was a nice class of different type dogs, all with something to offer. Special Limit Tricolor Dog (2) 1. Darane Boys Don t Cry (Kates) Nicely made young boy with beautiful body and shape both standing and on the move. Lovely head and expression. Shoulder placement just right. Nice depth of chest, correct spring of rib. Well muscled rear that is evident in the drive when he moves. Carried his tail a little high at times during the day. 2. Westwind Me N My KC (Koehring) Very attractive dog of different type than above. Well proportioned and well balanced. Larger than #1. Masculine head with nice eyes. Lots of bone and substance. Also moved well with level topline. Special Limit Ruby Dog (4) 1. Windham Lost Sailor (McCauley/Hashagen) 2 yr old ruby boy with deep rich color. Attractive head with large round eyes and appropriate cushioning giving that sweet expression. Correct high ear placement. Well proportioned and good shape. Nice straight front legs, good depth of chest and spring of rib. Well angled rear and moved with drive. 2. Tanglewood Rebellion (Saban/Fairchild) Well built boy excelling in neck and shoulders. Pretty head with large eyes. Moved with level topline. Good rear angulation. 3. Tanglewood Scottish Affair (Saban/McDowell) Another nice boy that I see is brother to #2. Very similar in so many ways. This boy has a bit larger eyes. The brother has better rear angles. 4. Closeburn Graham Macinnes (Trad) Large ruby boy with beautiful eyes. Carried his tail high today. Special Limit B&T Dog (1) 1. Kaceem Jonathan (Ames) Even though he was the only one in the class, he impressed me from the moment he came in the ring. Lovely head, beautiful eyes, well cushioned face with a very pleasing

expression. His body is his fortune with a deep chest, well sprung ribs, short loin. Front under him, elbows close to body, chest actually reaching elbow. Well angled rear and moved with drive. Perfect topline and tail right off the body. He was presented in good coat and showed well. Reserve Winners Dog, Best Black and Tan in Show. I was very happy to learn that this finished his Championship. Well deserved! Open Dog (3) 1. Ch Jayba Don Juan, JW (Lander) Beautiful dog with Cavalier type oozing from every point. He was happy and animated in the ring today, really having fun which just added to the picture. He has a gorgeous head with huge eyes and the sweetest expression. Just a pleasure to go over on the table with everything in the right place. Deep chest, well sprung rib, short loin, correct topline and tailset. You can tell this is an active dog with well muscled hindquarters. On the move he looks fabulous in profile as well as up and back. Tail carried straight off his back. Hard to fault him today. He was on! Very pleased to award him Winners Dog, Best In Show, Best Bred By Exhibitor, Best American Bred, Best Blenheim in Show. 2. Ch Tusus Kissed By An Angel (Henson) Another lovely blenheim dog that is hard to fault. Very strong mover with a well made body. Perfect topline, lovely neck and shoulders. Pretty head with large eyes and high set ears. Good pigment. Rear movement not as strong as #1 and a bit bigger than my taste. Very worthy champion. 3. Ch Charnell Cosmopolitan, JW (Herring) Yet another beautiful blenheim what a class that I have previously admired. He has a wonderful head with large round eyes and very sweet expression. Shown today in profuse coat. Well conditioned. Short coupled with good bone. Topline not at its best today. Junior Puppy Bitch (12) Gorgeous class with lots of promise for the future! 1. Primrose Hearts Afire (Lovett) This sweetheart is just my type. Everything so well in proportion. Compact little girl with good bone and substance. Lovely head, neck and shoulders. She has pretty eyes with just the sweetest expression. Well angled rear, level topline, moved beautifully around the ring. Best Puppy Bitch 2. Brookhaven Enchanting Dawn (Ayers/Martz) Beautiful pup with lovely eyes and great pigment. Excellent neck and shoulder placement. Good bone for her age. Moved well with correct topline and tail carriage. Really nice, promising girl. 3. Jayba Love Bite (Lander) Another beautiful girl with sweet head, lovely neck, well angled front and rear. Moved nicely. A little longer cast than the first two. 4. Lanmar Pometini (Hubbard/Beavers) The most precious little girl, so sweet and adorable. Compact, cute. Good topline, nice mover. Bite off.
