Bring in trucks and trailers after 5:30 p.m. Exhibitors or their representatives should make an effort to be there promptly for their birds. Release slips will be provided at the Poultry office after 3:00 p.m. Trucks, trailers and other poultry carrying vehicles with crates will not be permitted to park at or near the poultry barn. Large trucks and trailers must park in truck parking lot north of exhibitor campgrounds or in another designated area. Regardless of the number of entries in each class, by any one exhibitor, only two premiums will be paid in any of the single classes and only one premium in any of the group classes. All poultry must be free of evidence of contagious or infectious disease. Please bring your 9-2 or 9-3 testing paperwork. The Poultry Department Director reserves the right to reject any entry, if in his opinion, it is for the betterment of the show. Definition of Terms Used The fowls will be hatched as follows: Cock, a male over one year of age; Cockerel, a male under one year of age; Hen, a female over one year of age; Pullet, a female under one year of age Displays A special award will be made on points won in varieties which have a class for Best Display. The points won in each class shall be multiplied by the number of entries in that class in computing the total score. A first prize shall count 6 points, second prize, 4, third prize 3, fourth prize 2, fifth prize 1. When two or more contestants have the same number of points and are tied for a placing, the money covering the placing in question will be added together and divided equally among those contestants. Exhibitors competing for best display must exhibit not less than 1 cock, 1 hen, 1 cockerel and 1 pullet. The same exhibitor cannot win both first and second display. No substituting of birds or changing of entries will be permitted after entries are closed. Competent attendants will have full charge of feeding and caring for birds. No wet feeding will be permitted during the show. Water containers will be furnished for all poultry except waterfowl. JUDGING The American Standard of Perfection as revised by the American Poultry Association will be the guide for the judge in awarding the premiums. The fowls will be judged by comparison. No fowl that is unworthy will be awarded any premium. No cards showing ownership will be allowed on coops during judging. ENTRY INFORMATION One entry blank per exhibitor is required. The Junior entry blank is a different one than the Open. If you want to enter both Junior and Open, then two blanks are needed. Entry due date of June 20 means the entry blank and payment must be postmarked, not received by this date. Metered mail is not acceptable. You may use your credit card to pay for your entry fees. Checks should be made payable to: Ohio State Fair. It's permissible to pay for multiple family members with only one check, provided all entries are sent in the same envelope. ONLINE ENTRY INFORMATION PREMIUMS Premiums (amount listed after the class information) is processed and mailed at the conclusion of the fair. Any exhibitor who has not received due money by October 31, 2017, should notify the Entry Department at 717 E. 17th Ave., Columbus, OH 43211, phone 614-644-4052; e-mail b.prince@expo.state.oh.us or 614-644-4049; s.french@expo.ohio.gov IMPORTANT Exhibitors whose premium payments are over $499, will need to have a W-9 and Vendor Information Form filled out. These forms are required by the State of Ohio in order to process payment. You may find these forms online under competitions. You may enter online at www.ohiostatefair.com. Exhibitors should keep their exact login information (username/password). LATE ENTRY (June 21-July 20) requires a $50.00 late fee per exhibitor, per species, plus the usual per animal charge. If wanting to enter both Junior and Open, then it would be $50.00 for each area, plus the animal entry fee. Any entry made July 21 and after will be charged $75.00 per exhibitor, per species and per animal charge.
