Aashtoria Borzoi (Robin and Charlie Riel) had a good year last year. With limited Specialing, Casper ended the year as #13, not bad for a 2 year old. Some highlights were multiple BOBs, a Group 3, BISS, Specialty AOM, BOB at the prestigious Long Beach KC show the day before Eukanuba and an AOE at Eukianuba which qualified him for Crufts for 2 years. We managed to put a couple of points on 2 bitches last year and hope to find the time and money to bring them out this year, while still keeping Casper out in the ring. This year has started well for Casper, he won BOB at one of the biggest Hound Show weekends on the West Coast. The Inland Empire Hound Assoc. Show in Palm Beach, CA. He also won BOB the following 2 days of Palm Beach shows. The competitors down there were so supportive of him and he really seemed to enjoy all the attention. The following weekend was a rest weekend for him as I had another obligation so he couldn't be shown. The 3rd weekend in January was the Rose City Classic in Portland, Casper won BOB all three days he was entered. He will appear on Eukanuba's Animal Planet showing on April 11. I can't wait to see how he looks, but really not looking forward to seeing myself. They say TV adds 10 or 20 pounds. Boy that is something I don't need. LOL!! It has been kind of nice having a couple of weekends off w/o shows. I have been able to teach myself (along with help from homestead.com) to build my own website. Not fancy but easy to get around and in my favorite color. It was fun learning something new that I can keep up and not have to bug others about. Take a look and let me know what you think. It is a work in progress. http://www.aashtoria-borzoi.com/index.html Member News We are headed out to California for a couple of shows and are looking forward to seeing everyone again at all the March shows. Don't forget our meeting at Seattle. Davmoor Kennels (Diane and Jordan Davis) Jordan went to the Portland shows and was Best Junior on Friday with the Saluki Heidi (Ch. Issabaa's Cunning Courtesan). It was a good win as there were 22 entries in her class alone. They also competed in the limited junior invitational that is held at those shows and made the final cut in over 40 juniors. We are extremely grateful to Lyndell Ackerman (Camp Carma Salukis) for sharing Heidi with Jordan this last year. Even with the late start they had in the tear they finished #2 in the junior Saluki breed and #15 in the junior group standings. Diane missed the first two shows of the year but is looking forward to Seattle and seeing everyone there. Her plans are to finish Brodee (Davmoor Vision Keeper) who only needs three singles and bring out Willow (Davmoor Beyond The Mists) and River (Davmoor River Dance) this year. These are all Whitney's kids who have finally grown up. We will see you at the shows. Kirk and Dill Lamb The Lambs are new PSBC members but they have had Borzoi for many years. Among the dogs they have had were Whitney's sister Minnie and a rescue named Andre. Currently they have a pup from Doreen Carlstad (Regius) named Dove and also a pup from Barb Solga (Dar Morev) named Sunny. Dill writes that she is going to be the new Borzoi rep for Seattle Purebred Rescue. She has been doing home inspections and working with Jenya Campbell the current rep for some time now. Dill's e-mail address is lambacres@comcast.net Cathy Gilles is pleased to introduce Katushka's Braveheart at Brightwind, and Katushka's From Here to Eternity at Brightwind. They are 5 months old and will be making the trip to Michigan in May after their debut in Centralia and Elma. The sire is Am/Jap CH Katushka's Maestro Moussorgsky and the dame is CH Fern Meyta's Earthly Delight. page 2
Member News An exciting year is in store for Sedona Borzoi. First, Tamara plans on finishing Briana and Calvin this year! Briana just got her second major at the Portland show and only needs 3 singles to finish! Calvin just needs his last major and will be searching for those (now elusive) little buggers in 2009 :)). Secondly Sedona Borzoi has an exciting litter planned with Cooper and Phaedra Inari! It will be the "Russian Royalty Litter" with Prince Cooper and Princess Inari the sire and dam! Tamara thanks Carol Kubiak Zamora and Dr. Kevin Shimel of Phaedra for offering this lovely bitch for lease!
