Message from the President Greeting everyone; The Great Dane Club of Central North Carolina would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all exhibitors and guests that made our Great Dane Concurrent Specialty shows a success. The GDCCNC club members, Show Chairs, Terri Dillistin and Carol Ragan and I would like to thank everyone who contributed raffle baskets, trophy donations and gifts to help make our specialty complete. We hope you enjoyed our venue, hospitality and connecting with friends. Congratulations to all the winners! Sincerely, Wanda Hepler Message From the Show Chair Well we have another Specialty under our belts, and I believe a very successful one! This could not have happened without the help of many. First and foremost, I want to thank Carol Ragan. She was technically my Assistant Show Chair, but she and I did this venture together. Carol, thank you so very much for volunteering. Lol. Carol and I want to thank everyone who donated a raffle basket. Every one of them was specially made with thought and care. Thank you. We also want to say thank you to those who helped sell raffle tickets and manned the tables. To our Judges and Ring Stewards who had the ring moving smoothly, thank you. Rose Hielscher for our beautiful trophies, Peppi Grecco for our Rosettes, Christy Balazs for ordering and having our BISS chair embroidered. Richard Cyr McMillon, Wanda Hepler, and Colleen Cara thank you for getting announcements out on Facebook. Chris Hepler for taking care of the hospitality food. George Hielscher for taking pictures. Our club is not one of the larger Great Dane Clubs out there but we are mighty, and we do know how to get things done. To all those that helped outside of the ring and to all those that entered and participated inside of the ring thank you! Because of you this 2018 Concurrent Specialty was a SUCCESS! Upcoming Events Chris and Wanda Hepler will be hosting a Dog Fun Day at their home (2132 Hathaway Lane, Graham, NC 27253) on April 7th in conjunction with our April club meeting. Our special guest will be Elizabeth Engle, DVM. Dr. Engle is an American Veterinary Chiropractic Association (AVCA) certified doctor who performs chiropractic adjustments on animals. Animal chiropractic is an alternative to medication for many dogs, cats and horses in chronic pain. It is based on the same principles as chiropractic for humans. It is a non-invasive method of both injury treatment and wellness care. Maintaining good alignment is essential for consistent performance and optimum health. Dr. Engle will perform chiropractic adjustments at a cost of $40 per dog. Please sign up for an adjustment by sending an email to Terri Dillistin at terri.dillistin@gmail.com. Wanda is a certified CGC Evaluator and will offer testing for a fee of $7.00 per dog. All proceeds will go to the club. The Canine Good Citizen Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test may receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club. On January 1, 2013, Canine Good Citizen became an official AKC title that can appear on the title records of dogs registered or listed with AKC. Dog owners who complete the CGC as a Title process may list the suffix "CGC" after the dog's name. The Canine Good Citizen Program opens a way into the pet therapy program. All dogs, including both purebred and mixed breed dogs are welcome to participate in the AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Program. Please sign up for CGC testing by sending an email to Wanda at heplerdanes@gmail.com. Bring your dogs and enjoy this fun social event. This will truly be a fun day! We look forward to seeing you there!
