OUR JUDGES Mr Anthony Rees (Amical) Anthony began his interest in dogs as a child, aged 8 years, primarily with Whippets and Beagles he owned and bred in partnership with his parents under the Marallan Prefix. Winning his first CC at the age of 14 with one of their whippets. When Anthony was in his teens he aquired a Siberian Husky which was to become his first owned Champion. With his wife Caroline, they continued to show their Dobermanns and Siberian Huskies under their 'Amical' Kennel name but decided to put their main emphasis into the Siberians. Even though their kennel is mainly small numerically with their dogs being pets and family members first and foremost, to date they have owned/bred 15 UK Champions and many more CC winners. Some of their main achievements in the breed include Top Breeders, Top Siberian Husky, Top Brood, Top Stud and top Puppy awards. They have won Best in Show and Best Puppy in Show at both Breed Club Championship Shows and General Championship Shows including group placings. Anthony has been passed to award CCs in 4 breeds with appointments to award CCs in a further 3 breeds in the future. Anthony judges all breeds at Open Show level. Having a particular interest in Newfoundlands, both Anthony and Caroline make every effort to watch Newfoundland breed judging whenever time allows. Mr Paul Dodd I was delighted to be invited by the Southern Newfoundland Club to judge the Special Award Champions Class at this years open show. For a Novice Judge like me it represents a special and probably unique opportunity to go over the very best in the breed in one class and learn from the experience. In the 1980's I owned and exhibited Afghan Hounds and a standard Poodle for a short time but it wasn't until eight years ago that I experienced that life changing event, owning my first Newfoundland! I am now totally devoted to the breed and enjoy photographing, judging and participating in working and show events. SHOW SPONSORSHIP Sponsorship for this show has been kindly provided by and (Courtesy of Simon Cheung) Many thanks to the generosity of our sponsors in supporting our Show

Where a Best Puppy in Show competition is scheduled the Best Puppy in Show is a puppy which has competed and is unbeaten by any other puppy exhibited at the same show. A puppy is a dog of six and not exceeding twelve calendar months of age on the first day of the Show. Where the Best in Show is a puppy it should automatically be awarded Best Puppy in Show respectively. Similarly, if the Reserve Best in Show is a puppy which has only been beaten by an adult dog it will also automatically be Best Puppy in Show respectively. Consequently, selection of Best Puppy in Show must follow the selection of Best in Show respectively. Best Puppy in Show must be selected from puppies which have been judged and which are unbeaten by any other puppy. b. Withdrawal from Other Competition: Puppies which become eligible for Best Puppy in Show may be withdrawn from all other competition, other than Breed Classes, prior to the competition for Best Puppy in Show in order to remain unbeaten. A puppy beaten in competition for Best Puppy in Show may subsequently be exhibited in all competition for which it was previously eligible. The dog declared Best Puppy in Show, however, must not compete in any subsequent competition. c. The dogs declared Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show must not compete in any subsequent competition. b. Withdrawal from other competition: Dogs which become eligible for Best in Show may be withdrawn from all other competition other than breed classes prior to the competition for Best in Show as appropriate in order to remain unbeaten. A dog beaten in competition for Best in Show may subsequently be exhibited in all competition for which it was previously eligible. The dogs declared Best in Show and Reserve Best in Show however, must not compete in any subsequent competition. c. Proviso: For the purposes of this Regulation, dogs beaten in competition for Stud Dog, Brood Bitch, Progeny, Brace and Team or a Special Award confined to a single breed, will not be considered to be beaten dogs. 13. Exhibits will not be admitted to Best in Show competition after a period of ten minutes has elapsed since the announcement that exhibits are required for judging, unless they have been unavoidably delayed by previous judging not being completed on time, and then only with the special permission of the Show Management. 14. Exhibitors must not pick up dogs by their tails and leads when lifting them. This is not acceptable. Exhibitors should note that such practice would constitute harsh handling and reports of such practice will be referred to the Committee under Kennel Club Show Regulation F11.

15. All exhibitors must be familiar with Kennel Club Regulation F (Annex B) - Regulations for the Preparation of Dogs for Exhibition. 16. All dogs resident outside of the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete number before entry to the show/event can be made. All overseas entries without an Authority to Compete number will be returned to the exhibitor/competitor. 17. Dogs in Vehicles on Hot Days. Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do s and don ts travelling to and whilst at KC licensed events. When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams. If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all. The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water available to drink. Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog. When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle. Keep the dog in the shade - take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated. Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time. Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please look after your dog s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the General Committee for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rules and Regulations. Exhibitors/Competitors are reminded that show societies have the right under Kennel Club Regulation to refuse any entry. 18. Not for Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded on the entry form and must be Kennel Club registered. Puppies of 4-6 calendar months of age may be entered Not for Competition. 19. No modifications will be made to this Schedule except by permission of the General Committee of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible. 20. Exhibitors passes will not be sent out. Anyone requiring acknowledgment of their postal entries must enclose a stamped addressed envelope. 21. Should any Judge be prevented from fulfilling their engagement the committee reserve to themselves the right of appointing another judge to fulfill their duties. Exhibitors are at liberty to withdraw from competition but no entry fees can be returned. 22. Whilst all efforts will be made to implement all reasonable Health and Safety precautions, the Club will not be held responsible for accidents to persons or dogs at the event. 23. The closing date for postal entries is Saturday, 31st October 2015 (Post Office postmark). Any entry received after Wednesday, 4th November 2015 will be returned. Please ensure that you retain your proof of posting. On-line entries can be made up until midnight on Sunday, 8th November 2015. 24. No electrical grooming equipment may be used within the show precincts. 25. Any owner, competitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog is required to remove as soon as possible any fouling caused by their dog(s) at any Kennel Club licensed show within the licensed venue and within the environs of that event including car and caravan parks and approaches. 26. The owner, exhibitor, handler or other person in charge of a dog at Kennel Club licensed events must at all times ensure that the dog is kept under proper control whilst at the licensed venue, including its environs, car and caravan parks and approaches. This Regulation applies before (at any time during the set up period at the venue), during the event and afterwards (at any time during the breakdown of the event).
