ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS Do not allow effluent from greenhouses containing this product to enter lakes, streams, ponds or other waters. For guidance contact the provincial Regulatory Agency. For Outdoor Uses: TOXIC to aquatic organisms. Observe buffer zones specified under DIRECTIONS FOR USE. To reduce runoff from treated areas into aquatic habitats, consider the characteristics and conditions of the site before treatment. Site characteristics and conditions that may lead to runoff include, but are not limited to: heavy rainfall, moderate to steep slope, bare soil, poorly draining soil (e.g. soils that are compacted, fine textured, or low in organic matter such as clay). Avoid application of this product when heavy rain is forecast. PRECAUTIONS KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. Corrosive. Causes eye damage and skin irritation. Do not get in eyes, on skin or on clothing. GENERAL DIRECTIONS VENDEX 50WP Miticide provides effective control two-spotted spider mites infesting greenhouse cucumbers and tomatoes. VENDEX 50WP Miticide is not highly injurious to beneficial mites and is non-toxic to honeybees. This product can be used in conventional hydraulic sprayers or in low volume ground applicators. Mix VENDEX 50WP Miticide with water by vigorous agitation; agitate the mixture while spraying. If allowed to stand, re-agitate before use. Apply this product only as recommended on this label. Do not enter or allow entry into treated areas during the restricted-entry interval (REI) of 12 hours. For hand activities involving high foliar contact, do not enter treated areas to perform such work until at least 48 hours have passed since application. DIRECTIONS FOR USE DO NOT contaminate irrigation or drinking water supplies or aquatic habitats by cleaning of equipment or disposal of wastes. VENDEX 50WP Miticide can be used as follows: Greenhouse Cucumber and Tomatoes To control two-spotted spider mites on greenhouse cucumbers and tomatoes apply 50 g VENDEX 50WP Miticide in 100 L of water. The addition of a suitable spreader-sticker will usually result in superior mite control on these crops. Begin applications when mites appear and repeat as necessary to maintain control. Do not apply to cucumbers within 3 days of harvest or to tomatoes within 5 days of harvest. NOTE: 1. Although the safety of VENDEX 50WP Miticide has been demonstrated on a great number of varieties of greenhouse cucumbers and tomatoes an application should be made to a few plants before proceeding to an overall spray program. Under normal greenhouse conditions any plant damage that might occur should become evident within 48 hours after application. 2. Thorough coverage of all foliage, especially the under surface of leaves, is essential. This will require an upward adjustment of spray volume and pressure as the density of foliage increases with plant growth. 3. Do not spray when the plants are under stress or when the temperature of the greenhouse is greater than 32 C. Evening applications are preferable. Ornamental Plants and Nursery Stock To control two-spotted spider mites and spruce spider mites on ornamental plants and nursery stock (greenhouse and outdoors), apply 50 to 100 g VENDEX 50WP Miticide in 100 L of water. Begin applications when mites appear and repeat as necessary to maintain control. Use the higher rate only to control high mite populations. DO NOT APPLY BY AIR. Note: 1. Although the safety of VENDEX 50WP Miticide has been demonstrated on a great number of varieties of the more common ornamental plants an application should be made to a few plants before proceeding to an overall spray program. Under normal greenhouse conditions any plant damage that might occur should become evident within 48 hours after application. 4

2. Thorough coverage of all foliage, especially the under surface of leaves, is essential. This will require an upward adjustment of spray volume and pressure as the density of foliage increases with plant growth. 3. Do not spray when the plants are under stress (e.g. newly transplanted cuttings) or when the temperature of the greenhouse is greater than 32 C. Evening applications are preferable. 4. Apply only up to the tight bud stage of chrysanthemums and the prebract stage of poinsettias. Field Sprayer Application: DO NOT apply during periods of dead calm. Avoid application of this product when winds are gusty. DO NOT apply with spray droplets smaller than the American Society of Agricultural Engineers (ASAE) medium classification. Boom height must be 60 cm or less above the crop or ground. DO NOT apply by air. Buffer Zones Use of the following spray methods or equipment DO NOT require a buffer zone: hand-held or backpack sprayer, inter-row hooded sprayer, spot treatment, soil drench, and soil incorporation. The buffer zones specified in the table below are required between the point of direct application and the closest downwind edge of sensitive freshwater habitats (such as lakes, rivers, sloughs, ponds, prairie potholes, creeks, marshes, streams, reservoirs and wetlands) and estuarine/marine habitats. Buffer Zones (metres) Required for the Protection of: Method of application Crop Freshwater Habitat of Depths: Estuarine/Marine Habitats of Depths: Less than 1 m Greater than 1 m Less than 1 m Greater than 1 m Field sprayer* Ornamentals and nursery stock 30 4 10 5 * For field sprayer application, buffer zones can be reduced with the use of drift reducing spray shields. When using a spray boom fitted with a full shield (shroud, curtain) that extends to the canopy, the labelled buffer zone can be reduced by 70%. When using a spray boom where individual nozzles are fitted with cone-shaped shields that are no more than 30 cm above the canopy, the labelled buffer zone can be reduced by 30%. When a tank mixture is used, consult the labels of the tank-mix partners and observe the largest (most restrictive) buffer zone of the products involved in the tank mixture. 5

RESISTANCE MANAGEMENT For resistance management, please note that VENDEX 50WP Miticide contains a Group 12 acaricide. Any mite population may contain individuals naturally resistant to VENDEX 50WP Miticide and other Group 12 acaricides. The resistant individuals may dominate the mite population if this group of acaricides is used repeatedly in the same fields. Other resistance mechanisms that are not linked to site of action but are specific for individual chemicals, such as enhanced metabolism, may also exist. Appropriate resistance-management strategies should be followed. To delay acaricide resistance: Where possible, rotate the use of VENDEX 50WP Miticide or other Group 12 acaricides with different groups that control the same pests. Use tank mixtures with acaricides from a different group when such use is permitted. Acaricide use should be based on an IPM program that includes scouting, record keeping, and considers cultural, biological and other chemical control practices. Monitor treated pest populations for resistance development. Contact your local extension specialist or certified crop advisors for any additional pesticide resistance-management and/or IPM recommendations for the specific site and pest problems in your area. For further information or to report suspected resistance contact United Phosphorus, Inc. at 1-800-438-6071. VENDEX is a registered trademark of United Phosphorus, Inc. 6
