DIRECTIONS From I-10 take exit 281 to AZ-83 South. Go about 19 miles to about Milepost 40. Turn Left (East) on Empire Ranch Road which is after MP 40 and just across the Highway from the Fire Danger sign. Go about 3 miles, then stay to the right at the fork. Then turn left at the tee. Follow the road through the creek which is probably dry as usual and up the hill. The turn into the camp area is the second road on the left. There is no camping allowed west of the fence and bathrooms, which is where the first road goes. If approaching from Hwy 82, go North at the intersection on Hwy 83 about 6.5 mi. to Empire Ranch Rd. entrance across from the Fire Danger sign and follow the directions above to the airstrip site. On a happy note, the road in is now paved most of the way in and much easier to travel! Camping is permitted on the grounds, east of the fence and bathrooms. The BLM requires us to pack out all our trash and excess hay, as well as to rake out horse circles and clean up our dogs droppings and any holes they dig. Weed-free hay is NOT REQUIRED at this site. Water and bathrooms are available on site 2 permanent restrooms and also we will have Porta-Johns. The nearest lodging is in Sonoita at the Sonoita Inn (520)455-5935 but room availability is limited. The Stage Stop Inn in Patagonia (520)394-2211 is also nearby. Hay and feed are available at the feed store in Sonoita.- High Noon Feed Store (520)455-5734. We will have our cocktail party/announcements Saturday evening following the day s running. The club will provide beer, wine and soda. Bring an appetizer if you like but not required. We really just hope to have everyone come and mingle! We will have a vendor on site for lunch with their fees posted and will send out a memo with more details once arrangements are finalized.
