Founded 1975 Issue 12 December 2013 President s Message Merry Christmas to all the Lab Lovers This will be my last address to all of you as I will not be running for President in the coming year. I look back at my last few years in this position and I am grateful to all those who answered my call to step up and help out with the many jobs it takes to keep our Labrador Club running smoothly. I am so very proud of everyone in our little club and the way in which we all pitch in to help each other. It has been a joy for me to stand alongside you in making the Labrador a priority in your busy lives. I wish our new President, Cindy Freeman, a fun time of it all as I know she will make a great President for our Club! You go Cindy! Upcoming Events No General Meeting in December Annual Membership/Dinner Meeting at Huntzingers (see January issue for further information) This has been a fun and little bit crazy year with the added work of the LRC National, but I think in looking back all of us who helped put that large event on feel a good sense of accomplishment for a job well done. The National Club sent a small remuneration to our Club and Puget Sound which was nice. We now turn our focus to the upcoming All Breed: The Rose City Classic All Breed Shows in January, which our Club is sponsoring with trophies and a Sweepstakes Judge on that Saturday. The Sweeps Judge is Lisa DaRoss of Hyspire Labs. Also coming up is our huge Annual Pot Luck dinner which will follow on that same Saturday evening. Please see the Alphabet Chart for what you should bring. It s always a fun meeting where the Club Members pick/vote on our Specialty Judges and we vote in any and all new Officers/Board. It will be at Greg and Susan Huntzinger s home. Should anyone need directions, please call Susan or see her at the show. I am looking for a new Sportsman Show Chair. The job has smoothly run for the last few years with Bob Fagundes at the helm and we so appreciate his work. But now we need a new person who can perform the duties. Anyone interested, please email me. Last, but certainly not least, is the Newsletter Editor Celeste Smith. Celeste has been the best Editor dutifully putting out our interesting Monthly Newsletters even when sometimes she has had to wait for everyone to get her the needed information. She never complained. Celeste will be putting out this last December newsletter for all of us and I know I m not alone in saying THANK YOU so much Celeste for all you have done. I found it difficult to find someone to take over for Celeste, because as those I asked put it best who can follow her! We Thank You Celeste. January brings with it a new Editor for our monthly Club Newsletter. I would like to introduce our newest Editor in Chief, Shirley Trotter. Shirley has some previous experience in putting out a Club newsletter and we very much look forward to seeing Shirley s artistic approach. Thank you Shirley for answering my call! I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year! Your President Barb Gilchrist 1

As some of you are already aware I am retiring as newsletter editor effective this month. I have held this position a little over three years this time around. I say this time around because during the past 22 years that I ve been a member of RCLRC this has been my third time as newsletter editor. Due to my mother s health (she has had a few strokes recently) I have had to take a much more active role arranging for her care and finances. I really don t have time to perform the editor job as I would like. It has lately been put out in a hurry and not to my satisfaction. Shirley Trotter has agreed to take over the duties. I m sure Shirley will do a great job in this position. She takes over with the January 2014 issue. Please send her any information for future newsletters. Her email address is: mulburylabs@yahoo.com.
