GOLDEN RETRIEVER CLUB OF COLUMBUS, OHIO INC. Annual Awards Trophies The GRCCO Award Year runs from December 1 through November 30 of the following calendar year. This allows the Trophy Chairperson enough time to accept applications for trophies from club members, and to verify all information in the Gazette before the trophies are awarded in February. DO NOT SUBMITT INFORMATION PERTAINING TO ACHIEVEMENTS FOR PRIOR AWARDS YEARS, UNLESS IT PERTAINS TO QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CHALLENGE TROPHY BEING APPLIED FOR, IT WILL BE DISCARDED. Please keep copies of everything you submit. Trophies can only be awarded to members in good standing, has obtained the six (6) required points, own the dog and the dog resides in the members home. A dog who is co-owned and officially resides in the member s home is also eligible for these awards 1
Awards Amendment GRCCO Club Activity Points as Approved by the General Membership on April 19, 2007, amended by the GRCCO Board on November 13, 2008 A total of six (6) club points per awards year is required. You must acquire at least three (3) general meeting points, plus three (3) activity points. The Board reserves final vote on any discrepancies. A. General Meetings will count as one (1) point for each meeting attended. The GRCCO Banquet will count as one (1) general meeting point. Your name must appear on the roster sign in sheet to receive a point for said meeting. B. THE CARAMEL S AGILITY AND OBEDIENCE TROPHY The purpose of this trophy is to encourage GRCCO members to purse versatility in canine performance events with their dogs. This trophy is to be awarded to the Golden Retriever owned by a member of GRCCO that has amassed the greatest number of points earned in AKC agility and obedience trials during the awards year. Applicants for this trophy must have received at least one qualifying score in both AKC agility and obedience events during the awards year. The dog must be trained and handled by his owner. In the event a tie occurs, the dog earning the highest obedience title will be awarded the trophy. THE SAM TROPHY This trophy is to go to the dog owned by a member of GRCCO that has amassed the greatest number of points earned in AKC obedience trials during the awards year. The dog must be handled by the owner or a member of his immediate family. Points are to be awarded in the following manner: 5 points - First in class 4 points Second in class 3 points Third in class 2 points Fourth in class 1 point Qualifying score, not placing This trophy replaced the Desperado Trophy, which replaced the Rusticana Trophy. Gi-Ki s Secret Agent FIRST YEAR AWARDED: 2001 Awards Year BENDALE TRI-TROPHY The purpose of this trophy is to promote the Golden Retriever in all three areas of the AKC (GRCA Field) competition: Obedience (tracking included), Bench and Field. In order to be awarded this trophy, an exhibitor must compete in all three (3) areas within one (1) award year, unless the dog has previously earned the ultimate title from a particular area of competition (CH, UD, AFC or FC), in which case will make him eligible for that particular area of competition. WYLWIND GOLDENS TROPHY The Wylwind Goldens Trophy is the Best of Breed trophy and will be awarded to the Golden Retriever that has defeated the greatest total number of Goldens in AKC licensed conformation shows. Points are accumulated according to the total number of Goldens defeated by the individual dog that has been awarded WD, WB, BOW, BOS or BOB. Point accumulation for the year is based on the club award year. This trophy replaces the Christmas Kennel trophy, which replaced the Spannen Kennel Ch. Duckdown s Spannen CD trophy. DONOR: Bruce and Ruth Wylie IN HONOR OF: Am. Can. Ch. Laurell s Man For All Angels OS FIRST YEAR AWARDED: 1999 Awards Year KODIAK GOLDENS BEST OF OPPOSITE SEX TROPHY This trophy is to be awarded to the GRCCO member-owned Golden Retriever that is of the opposite sex to the Wylwind Goldens trophy winner and who has defeated the most Goldens during the annual awards year. Points are accumulated for this trophy only after the dog or bitch has gone WD, WB, BOW, BOS or BOB at an AKC point show. Reserve wins do not count towards this trophy. This trophy replaces the Holiday Kennel Best of Opposite Sex Trophy, which was retired because of its deteriorating condition. The trophy was first awarded in 1980. Points will equal dogs defeated per AKC records in conformation only, by winning WD, WB, BW, BOS or BOB. Only defeats while handled by the breeder/owner will count toward the total. If proof of handling becomes an issue, a win photo will be used to determine the out-come. If no win photo is available, then two witness statements will be required. The Rally Girls Rally Novice Trophy The purpose of this trophy shall be to encourage GRCCO members to pursue the Rally Novice Title. The member whose Golden Retriever earned the highest average score of three legs counting toward an AKC Rally Novice Title from either the A or B class. In the event of a tie, the order of placement within the number of competitors in the class will be the deciding factor for the award. The dog must be trained and handled by the owner or a member of the immediate family.
