LIGRC Incentive Awards and Challenge Trophies The Long Island Golden Retriever Club, Inc. incentive and challenge trophies are awarded annually to members in good standing whose dogs earned titles in conformation, obedience and field, or met the requirements to win a challenge trophy. To be eligible to receive an incentive award or win a challenge trophy, the member must also either chair a LIGRC Committee or serve on 2 LIGRC, AKC or GRCA Committees or work on 2 LIGRC, AKC or GRCA events during the calendar year in which the submission for an award is made. (The above paragraph was approved by LIGRC members at the June 23rd 1993 General Meeting.) The LIGRC Secretary must receive applications by March 31st. Members must enclose with the application a copy of the dog s AKC registration certificate and a copy of the certificate issued from the AKC or CKC (for bench championships, obedience, agility, tracking and field titles) or from the GRCA (for WC/WCX, VC/VCX and CCA titles). The application includes information such as the shows and trials at which the dog received points or qualifying scores.

LIGRC Incentive Awards Each LIGRC member will receive a token award or a donation in the dog s name to a Golden Retriever foundation for each bench, field, agility and/or obedience title earned by the member s dog or dogs during a calendar year. The LIGRC will give an incentive award to recognize any dog s receiving a Certificate of Merit or better at a licensed field trial; however, such an award is limited to one trophy per dog per year. Dogs may be owned and/or co-owned, but must reside with the LIGRC member in good standing to be eligible for an award. Any member who owns an Outstanding Dam or Sire is eligible for an award. (Refer to the GRCA point system, effective January 1, 1988, to determine eligibility of Outstanding Dams and Sires.) Effective January 1, 1971, any Junior Member who achieves five wins at licensed shows during a calendar year is eligible for an incentive award.

LIGRC Challenge Trophies In the interest of clarifying the ownership as it affects the award of the LIGRC Best of Breed, Am./Can. Ch. Golden Glo s Valentine Best of Opposite Sex, Obedience and Gun Dog Challenge Trophies, the Board of Directors and Members of the LIGRC establish the following as interpretive of the wording "Member owned and member handled" in the Deed of Gift of such trophies: 1. "Member" means a member in good standing of the LIGRC during the calendar year in which such submission for an award is made. 2. "Owner" means the person named on the AKC registration certificate if a sole owner. If two or more persons are named on the AKC certificate, the owner applying for the award must be the LIGRC club member with whom the dog resided as its principal residence during the year for which the award is to be made. A "boarded" dog, one who resides with the LIGRC member, but for whose housing and care a fee is paid to that member, shall not be eligible for an award. 3. The Awards Committee shall rely on the integrity of the members of the LIGRC in their submission for such awards and shall in the case of co-ownership by a nonmember, accept a simple statement that the member applying for the award is the person with whom the dog resided and that, as such, meets the qualifications for submission for the award. (The above paragraphs were approved by LIGRC members at the April 25th, 1984 general meeting.) 4. If a trophy is retired and the exact same trophy is donated back, the original name of the trophy must remain the same. Only new trophies which replace the retired trophy can be renamed. They must have the same requirements as the previous trophy.
